Having friends that also plays Visual Novel

My introduction to anime and eroge were actually by my freinds. I never did engaged in any japan stuff before that. During high school I was introduced to Fate Stay Night eroge and Princess Lover anime and that was what made me to an otaku as of today. But I was only the one to go far as playing untranslated eroge and taking up japanese learning. Sadly they were not as enthusiastic as me.

When going to college I did had one that do play only translated visual novels, he was more to playing social games though and anime. Not so many in college really engaged to anime stuff.

So how about you, got any freinds other that on the net that engages on visual novels ?  . . .  .eroge and galge isn't a very common type of game people play in contrast to rpg, shooter, racing or sports.

I would like to know . . . .

:( I don't have any friends outside of the net so those on the net are my real friends.

But having someone who plays the same VNs you do is really great, when I started playing VNs it was during beta of TERA online where I was in a great guild, I finished planetarian and Little Busters and so when the game got boring and the guild basically stopped playing it, I recommended LB to Luch, my best friend there. He only played one route in KS before but didn't feel like playing more or trying different VNs, but I was bugging him to play it and so he did. And ever since then we played the same VNs, following up with Hoshimemo, wanko, president, miku vns, flyable heart, hatsukoi imouto, rewrite, iroseka. (except some slight variations like I tried 1 route in 17 and muv-luv, he played one in konosora etc).

And its great talking about a VN right when you play it with someone who is also just playing it and not someone who finished it months or years ago.

So even though its a bit different than your original question, I think its important to find someone who plays the same VNs as you do, otherwise its like "do you have a friend who also reads books" or "also play computer games" - sure but if they read or play different ones I don't really have much to talk with them about.

never had any friends that play VNs in this part of the world you'll find enthusiastic people about anime but not VNs i think i'm the only one from my country that plays them

it's really sad not to find anyone to discuss VNs with but that's just the way it is,i think the language plays a part as well because not everyone is good at english

but i'm glad i found a place like fuwanovel to talk with people about VNs :D

I have a friend who introduced me to VN through Type-Moon stuff, he reads some once in a while (Recommended me Kara no Shoujo too, he liked it so much and wanted someone to talk about it so he bugged me until I played it. And it was great.)

I also have a friend I introduced to VN. It was really a blessing to have someone to talk about Muv-Luv when I played it. Although other people around us in class were kinda annoyed because we kept talking about Muv-Luv for hours and distracted them from paying attention.

Even though anime is really popular here, the common consensus is still that VNs are either porn games or just "another weird Japanese thing" . Tried to get my friends into it, but they just flat out refuse to even give it a shot, which annoys me. However I DID get my brother to give Narcissu a shot, after much persuasion and since it's on Steam. He totally loved it and even promised not to judge things before trying them.

Around the time I got into Visual Novels I tried to get others to play them along with me but most of the time when I told anyone about them they lost interest since it involves a lot of reading, but one friend actually found it interesting so I gave him a couple of recommendations starting with Fate Stay Night and Sharin no Kuni and he got hooked on them ever since even though sometimes I have to urge him on sometimes since he procrastinates a lot. Same guy later came to be my best friend and the only person I can talk about Visual Novels with.

actually, i thought i was the only person in the middle east playing them, so it was quite a surprise for me when i read your location. though you seem to be as knew as me. VN,s seem to be spreading a lot faster than most people anticapated.

i hope this isnt against the rules, but :

السلام عليكم!كيف حالك يا أخي؟ ما توقعت تلاقي واحد عربي هون صح؟ ^_^

But personally, i have had some success with one of my friends. i recommended katawa shoujo to him a while ago. i wonder if he tried it out yet...

I introduced a couple people to VNs and they usually tend to like it although they're mostly interested in the ones that have an anime version or the ones that are less eroge like so sometimes our tastes differ but they now search for VNs on their own which makes me feel great that I've made people interested in looking up VNs~

I did read Corpse Party (BloodCovered + 2) and AXANAEL together with my roommate. Yeah, at the same time.

It was... well, it was pretty hilarious. Especially when the h-scenes came along, it got really funny. :D But we got through the whole thing with no issues and enjoyed it. That's about it, though.

Nope.  I've tried to get friends into it, but I always get a noncommittal "yeah, that sounds interesting," with no follow up.  Some people just don't want to read.  Granted, one of my friends is dyslexic, so he has an excuse at least.

That profile is just so beautiful :0

Back to the topic.

I don't really have visual novel orientated friends. Most are just focused on mainstream anime and manga such as naruto or bleach. It is a shame for me.

Yep, trying that as well.

And uhh, I've tried introducing it to friends, but one of them says it's kinda boring, and another says he's too busy. I dunno, at this point, I've kinda given up getting my friends into it. I kinda figure it's fine though. I'm enjoying them myself, and it's not like people who are into them as me or you don't exist, so it doesn't feel totally bad. Fuwanovel's a good place for that.

anyway, to answer the question, yes I have friends playing visual novels, but not many. most of them prefer the novel to have gameplay, but others don't care and just want to read a good story.

I have like two friends who play VNs and it is really fun to talk about VNs with them but sometimes I think it is not necessary because I had that time when I like stopped watching anime and playing VNs because we were talking all the time about VNs..... it was really bad. That's why I gave up about teaching anyone VNs since I don't want them to waste my time :v

I tried once but a friend of mine found it boring and gave up after a while since he was bored(I told him to try majikoi since he is the "romcom" kind, maybe it was a bad choice) .... that's to be expected cause after all not all people love reading all these words found in one VN since we were not raised accustomed to reading a lot  , I dunno why I put it that way and not all people are good in English.

So even though its a bit different than your original question, I think its important to find someone who plays the same VNs as you do, otherwise its like "do you have a friend who also reads books" or "also play computer games" - sure but if they read or play different ones I don't really have much to talk with them about.

That's really important, I have one of my friends who's reading visual novels but we rarely read the same VNs. For example currently, I am playing Rewrite while he's playing G-senjou no maou so .... we don't really have anything to talk about right now. Especially that the only VNs we have both played are katawa shoujo and fate.

Woah! I didn't know there was such a thing!! So it's getting popular huh? That's amazing!!

Well yeah they are getting more and more famous and popular even in middle east but I think that's mainly due to the anime adaptaions. It is like how people start reading manga , at first it is to complete something whose anime adaptation wasn't completed like Slam Dunk for example, then they start reading different manga. That was how I got into VNs but the main thing was that I like games where "your choices affect the storyline" , but I quickly got addicted to VNs that I do't really play anything other than them.

I have one friend (sadly, we'll be separated because she's going to college in another state) that I talk to about vns and anime in general. I introduced her to Little Busters! around when the anime adaptation was announced and she ended out loving it XD I think that her being a bookworm was a good factor for her to sit through that long vn.

Like other said here, I tried to introduce vns to 2 friends who like anime without much success. I think that main obstacle is the fact that vns = reading and the amount of time it requires to finish it.

I only have one friend who plays VN's and he is probably the only one who understands the difference between a VN and an eroge. We don't see each other much anymore but when we do, we are able to have great conversations.

Before I moved to study Japanese all my friends were a bunch of Japanophobes, often trash-talking a guy who used to read manga during class. So talking to them about my Japan-related interests was kind of out of the question. But, as I expected, I met a bunch of people interested in anime, manga and the like in Japanese class after I moved. One of which is kind of interested in VNs, but only wacky stuff like School Days, Yandere, Hatoful Boyfriend, and such. So I sometimes recommend him some stuff when I find it.

no problem with having e-friends to chat with about visual novels, if anything it is easier because I can pick and choose who i interact with about them if I hadn't found some of the chats I wouldn't have realized I had such...particular tastes.
