There is no real Western market for visual novels, an extremely small proportion of players actually purchase visual novels through steam, j-list, etc. I believe that sexual content is a major theme of visual novels. Take that away and you have lost many of the greatest visual novels ever made. I enjoyed Swan Song myself. Thought it was pretty different than the school life idea that has been used countless times.
