Icebound is a dark fantasy, mystery visual novel that takes place in a world locked in the depths of an ice age. It features a non-linear plot with story-affecting decisions, optional romance, and puzzle game elements. Its story aims to be witty, mature, and intriguing until the bitter end.

On the harsh and unforgiving world of Permia, two races, human and feran, share a fragile peace. In the north resides the Holy Empire, whose machinery and society both run like clockwork, and in the south, the Council, a powerful alliance of tribes who have mastered the spiritual arts. In this world, there exists the ability to manipulate the forces of nature - only those who can master their training and tame a Familiar can receive the title of "alchemist".

A wandering alchemist named Dougal winds up in the isolated town of Isenbarr with his Familiar, Isaac, hoping to earn some much-needed money. But when he stumbles across a potentially lucrative bounty offered by a master alchemist and his clockwork servant, he must match wits with three eccentric residents to obtain the legendary Philosopher's Stone.

In his search for a deadly monster, Dougal discovers truths that might be better off hidden, and a striking secret agent whose mission is all but clear. Could Agent Lamia really need Dougal's help, or is she after the Philosopher's Stone as well...?

what is this kickstarter that i keep hearing of ;s

Basically Kickstarter is a crowdfunding website. People put up their hopeful projects with a video, some explanation, and some partially completed work to show off their idea and thy ask for people to donate various amounts to fund their project. The funders are generally rewarded with some piece of the final project in varying degrees. For example, if someone wanted to fund Icebound, they could give, say $10, and at that donation value, they would be promised an electronic copy of the VN when it is released. You should check it out, there's a lot of interesting stuff up there and it's a great thing, because it helps connect the people who want to make stuff with the people who are willing to give something to have it made. Crowdfunding is just fantastic in general imo, and there are some sick projects in the art/game/whatever interests you sections.
