wow more than 50 characters thats a metric butt ton. if you have connections with mangagamer have you talked to them about why they haven't picked up this title, after all they did the first one . and as for it coming out now you have to understand this vn involves gameplay elements and is a large title at upwards of 50 hours of play time it would take a fan trans group quite a while to hack and translate this project you're probably looking at a minimum of over a year and thats if there is no hiccups along the way and there almost always are.  but i have to agree with wanting to play this one aswell i have the original on my hard drive but haven't gotten around to playing it. i loved the anime series though.

The license to Shin Koihime is super expensive so no you won't just be able to get them to publish it. Translation costs are not the only issue, the license cost is also one.

Most translators won't touch this with a ten foot pole (because it's a mangagamer title) but keep trying and you might find one.

I don't think the translation cost is the biggest problem though. Since Shin is even bigger than Koihime the voice acting licence will be even more expensive. They'll most likely have to release it without voices again at first and they'll probably need to sell more than 2000 copies (what they needed last time) to recoup the cost and get the voices back.

Just be prepared that there's a pretty big risk that mangagamer will say: "No we can't publish this yet and if you publish this we'll be forced to sue you."

I also have connections with MangaGamer, so if everyone wants me to, I could likely get them to publish it.

The question has been put to MG many times, and this is what they had to say on the matter.

Koihime Musou, as a game consisted of 3.5MB of pure text. This is 1.5x the length of a game like DEARDROPS, or 2-3x the length of a game like Shuffle. At 2,000 sales @ ~35EURO, it is doing *OKAY*, even with its large voice cast. (That's 70,000 EURO for those not doing the math.)

Shin Koihime Musou, is nearly twice as long at over 6.5MB of pure text. This is 3x the length of your average story game sold for 35Euro, and over 6x the length of your average nukige sold for 20-25Euro. Given that the text is nearly twice as long, all the translation costs would be proportionately double what they were for Koihime Musou. And that does not even include the voice acting costs, which may very well be greater than double that of Koihime Musou.

For Shin Koihime Musou to be feasible, we would need to be confident that one of the following was certain to happen:

A) Sell over 2,000 copies at ~70-90 EURO a piece.

B )Sell at least 2,000 copies of each third of the game at 30 EURO a piece.

C) Sell over 6,000 copies at 35 EURO

Thus far, the numbers we have seen on our account books have shown that both A) and C) are currently impossible in this market. However, there is absolutely no data support whether or not B ) could succeed.

So the question we face is: Take the risk and license Shin Koihime? Or license this wider selection of games instead that poses less risk and higher return?

We would love to license and release Shin Koihime Musou as much as we know you all would love to play it. The problem is that the current state of the market isn't supporting the logistics. We need either a larger consumer base, or a consumer base willing to pay more for quality product.

I have an update; they're very willing to publish it. The main issue seems to be the fact that it would take a lot of time and dedication to fully translate the game. Which means that if we can get a team going, we may honestly be able to get this game published.

Actually there is a guy that is translating shin koihime mousou on youtube he has already translated touka's route  and he is continuing with Karin's  maybe we could ask him to give what he has already translated to mangagamer and maybe help further on the translation. His username on youtube is Akumu Ryuu

Hello, I have a question, isn't Koihime musou already translated ? Or are you speaking about the sequel ?

And if yes isn't the sequel shorter than the original game ?

We are talking about Shin Koihime Musou it's the sequel and it's a lot bigger than koihime musou. I believe there is also a fan disk called Shin koihime musou Moe which is smaller than Shin koihime musou maybe you' re reffering to that

Okay thanks, VNDB must be wrong about it then, because in the game the lenght of the prequel is >50h while the sequel is between 10 and 30.

I'll have to contact him soon, thank you!

I brought it up to them that translating Moe would be a bit easier, but either is still a large project. Their main issue with going forward with it is that they don't want to devote all of their time and resources to translating such a huge game and neglecting their other projects.

As a fan, I wouldn't mind getting either (or both!!) but it would be a pretty large project for any that are willing to participate.

Well since the guy on youtube has translated more than 1/3 of the game already i think shin koihime musou will be much easier but you' re right as a fan I wouldn't mind getting either but both would be the best scenario

The sequel is definitely longer. There are three or four factions to play through, with additional stuff like side stories being around like in the original. That's actually why I'm having such a problem getting a team, this project is HUGE.

If I'm not mistaken, that guy has not translated any of the eroge scenes. That would unfortunately give MangaGamer more work.

Actually he has translated Shoku faction's eroge scenes of course just before and after things go ecchi since youtube doesn't accept porn. He is currently translating Gi's main route so when that's done he will probably start with the eroge scenes. There is also the possibility that he has fully translated Shoku's eroge scenes but has edited them for youtube, I think you should ask him though about that.

Finally a hope that this game will be translated, I loved the first game and tried to play Shin Koihime Musou with the help of translators, it helps but it's not that helpful, then I decided to translate it myself, but since I had 0% knowledge about japanese language I couldn't, then I started learning japanese for it. I'm still a rookie in that, so helping in translations is out of question for me, but I can work in photoshop, I found the way to extract the images and I can edit them too, so if there is anything I can contribute in any way I would like to :)

Ok because I'm a nice guy and I wanna see this thing take off I've sent the guy a comment leading him here. If there is anything else I can do to help let me know. I honestly don't know what else I can do since I can't translate and I know nothing of the process.

And I'm here. First of all, no, I don't have H-scenes themselves translated. All I have are srt files for playthrough videos I recorded, I translate it as I make them. But as far as I noticed H-scenes are 80% made of moans, so I don't think it'll be much of a problem. After I'm done with Gi route's main story, I can upload an archive with all those srt files to mediafire or something.

I'm sure someone with enough time can make a script based on all of what you have as long as they have access to all videos. As for whats not translated yet, it's just a matter of getting someone to finish whats missing in those routes.
