It says air is on ds/3ds but i cant find it

Recommended Posts

According to VNDB Air was never on DS or 3DS for both the Japanese and English release of it so I'm not sure what site you was using but it showing Air as being on DS or 3DS is wrong.

https://vndb.org/v36

It's only been on the following:

Dreamcast, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2, Other (Mobile), Android, iOS, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, PC and Switch.

it says under platforms that it is on ds. thanks for confirming tho

Except it's not on DS at all (and never was), I trust VNDB to have accurate information.

That website has incorrect information, it was never on DS or 3DS, it's more than likely that beta of Fuwanovel is outdated and probably not used anymore since it doesn't even list the other consoles it was on like PS2 or Dreamcast etc.  No clue how you even found that beta website of Fuwanovel, I doubt it's supported anymore.

There is certainly no official port of Air on the Nintendo DS. It's possible that if you know what your doing with DS hacking and homebrew stuff, there is a way to get it to work, but that's obviously more of an engineering project than any practical way to read Air on the go.

That wouldn't be necessary anyways since it's available on the Switch, although it would be the all-ages version, I don't support those versions since I'm against visual novels sold with cut content.

H-scenes in KEY games are so bad and out of place that they just ruin the experience. It's no wonder that KEY removed them even for subsequent PC releases (Memorial/Perfect Editions etc). But what can I know - to each their own porn I guess, even if it's the shittiest kind of porn squeezed into an otherwise great story in a desperate attempt to boost sales :P

Perhaps it was available on vnds in the past? I'm not sure if vndb still shows vnds ports.

Air was actually the first vn with h-scenes that I played. It was definitely a very weird experience. :ehh: Especially with how out of place most of them were.

Ps. Also, I remember reading somewhere that originally Air was supposed to be an all-ages vn, and the h-scenes were added at the very last moment.

air is """available""" on gba and older ds can play gba games natively

You weren't kidding! Apparently it's called Air Pocket Advance.

There's also a Game Boy Color version called Air Pocket:

The GBC version looks surprisingly good all things considered (it sounds like shit though). The GBA version actually looks (and sounds) pretty good and seems to be a decent port. Even the opening theme sounds pretty good on the GBA version. And to believe there are people out there that shit on the GBA sound chip...

All the information about it is in Japanese, but you can read up more about it here. Apparently the way the port works is that they developed special software that would convert the files of the game from your computer into a GBA compatible version. So unfortunately they don't provide a simple ROM for download, you need to have the game and figure out how to convert it yourself with this very outdated software. Although I guess theoretically, their converter might be compatible with a translation patched copy of the AIR.

If you go to the link I provided, you can find a picture of them paying the port on a Nintendo DS, which is where I think the misconception that it's a NDS port came from. As Yuuko mentioned, it's a gba port being played on the NDS.
