[NSFW] Translating a mille-feuille game, edits not working [Solved]

First let's address the elephant in the room. This is a porn game.

Game Title: HengenSouki SHINE MIRAGE: countdown to defeat

Found fix, keeping question for future google searchers.

I extracted the data.xp3 and patch.xp3 with KrkrExtract and then removed the xp3 files from the game directory.

I created two folder under the game directory, data and patch.

I decided to modify the interface graphics first, and it worked fine. I didn't have to repack the files to get it working.

Issue;

There are files with the extension .ks and they're are clear text. I found the line I wanted to edit.

It existed in a file named 0-02.ks

"str" => "攻撃力を1.5倍にアップ",

I translated it to;

"str" => "Increase Attack Power by 1.5x",

I found the file under data and under patch, so I edited it in both places just to make sure.

The change isn't showing up where it should. (or at all). This text doesn't exist anywhere else. I used Notepad++ to search all the files excluding png and ogg.

I used GARbro to make a patch.xp3 and it didn't change the text either. The text isn't a graphic.

Question;

Is there some place that caches the data, or maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Figured it out while writing this question.

KiriKiri games cache the text in their saved games. Deleting the save shows the new translation. I can also fix it in the save file, but I wasn't very far into the game so no issues here.

Unrelated, I can change the save location to the game directory instead of under Appdata. Kind of cool.
