Site Work Failed, But We Didn't Die

Ugh. Still more roadblocks. Need to get an as-yet unknown password from Nay in order to get this sucker changed. For now, please enjoy the mess of a forums we've got, and dream of the forums we will probably never one day have.

Noraneko 2 Censored Overseas Release Announced

Definitely true, and I wish it wasn't like this. Noratoto deserved more than a lackluster translation and a butchered all-ages release.

The TL is amazing

I don't know wtf is going on with the quoting right now, but uh, gonna have to leave this one like this too. Actually quoting breaks the whole site it seems

You are dumb

I still wonder who actually buys these vns. Definitely not the original target audience.

But you know? I'm totally not surprised and it's a perfect case study. This is what mindless piracy does. You have all these horny teens pirating every single game out of two reasons: 1. They have better things to spend what little money they have on 2. Why buy anything at all, if it's always available for free?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For you, I have no words.

This has to stop. Harukaze did the right decision.

Ignoring Kiririri here, what I think about Fruitbat here would be that they like AGM here in that the latter policy is to only translated all age game, so perhaps like Pulltop with AGM there's a contract in that Harukaze should localized censored version here. Not that I don't have a hard proof of whichever have the biggest responsible here, but seeing that Fruitbat did consistently localized all age VNs I would put the blame on Harukaze for accepting the contract with Fruitbat here. Granted that we can say that Harukaze did fear Valve's tantrum, but it's not like it couldn't be circumvented here have Harukaze ask right partner (ie Mangagamer, Sekai, Nekonyan, or even JAST is fine). Also the reason of no lt enough money for sex scenes vouce is definitely weak, because they can just removed the voices in the sex scenes and the fans will find a way to adding the voices while they can slowly gather the money to pay the licenses. I guess there's no use to cry over spilled milk here, because it's already happened.

As for Pulltop, well they have JAST for Princess Waltz and Mangagamer for their Konosora store for the reminder, so there's no reason for them not to work together with either one of them to licensed Miagete. I understand though if they did hesitate to work with either JAST or Mangagamer back at 2013 with Konosora because they may have a crisis happen, but I believe that Pulltop should already have a stable situation at 2017 so at least they can try to ask JAST or Mangagamer for Miagete. At least they sort of redeem themselves by localized Umikana here in that I can say it's the best Pulltop's overseas release, if only because it's originally all age VN in Japan and it's obviously mean that there shouldn't much fuss about censorship here. Also while VNDB change MoeNovel was Will Plus subsidiary according to one interview (Presumeably to avoid MoeNovel's critic that conveyed towards Pulltop), I still treat MoeNovel as Pulltop anyway because most of their VNs are from Pulltop and that two of Will Plus VNs (Damekoi and Starless) didn't have the sex scenes censired to appeal 12 yo French Girls. You may argue that MoeNovel have Cross Channel, but if we remember that Frontwing have both of Sharin and Subahibi then it's normal.

PS - I just learn that JAST also have a fair share of censorship, but at least their censorship is not as much as Pulltop to say it in a simpler term.

Uuhm, Kiririri, I don't think that bad manners are allowed on that forum... :(

Ehm... Ugh.

Plus: finally I can read Noratoto in 2 parts in English

Minus: no 18+. Usually I don't care, until I find my waifu in game... -_-

And then it becomes a problem... Haaagh...

Poor players...

Will just post this here but just like I suspected, the reason why Noratotos are not getting 18+ versions are because they want to keep the company, Tokyotoon, all-ages.
If you take a look at their new game's website you can see it says it will release on Steam with English and Chinese versions too. It will also only be all-ages with no 18+ version even made.

Well perhaps we can say that Tokyotoon is at fault as well, although seeing that their next game have Noraneko staff we can say that Tokyotoon is rebranding name for Harukaze. So what I can say is that Harukaze here is more or less like Leaf, and in this case then I would prefer Harukaze to act like Leaf in that they chose to not localized their older VNs that have sex scenes (With it at least there'll be no censorship controversy). Oh well.

Anyway, today we suddenly have this released. So if you didn't have any problem with the lack of sex scenes and been wanted to play it, then get it at the store here and have fun.

The decision to throw out the H-scenes here is really irritating. I mean they offer the title dirt cheap for about 15 bucks and people will still be unhappy because of it. If they would have included the H-scenes they could easily sell it for 2 - 3 times as much and probably still sell more copies of it.

But I guess it's the same problem like in Moenovels's case: they hired a translation studio that doesn't do adult scenes. Couldn't they just hire a freelance translator instead of Frognation Ltd.?! The title would have certainly sold good enough to offer the translator a fair payment. And considering the apparently not exactly tremendous salaries the competition seems to offer, it shouldn't have been difficult to find one. Not to mention that I doubt that Frognation Ltd. was such a cheap alternative.

Can't they just a hire a freelance translator for an H-scene DLC?! They could at least offer a compromise and say that if the title sells good enough, they'll consider it.

I thought there was already said that the problem is in voice actors licences...

And their real names are listed in credits, not aliases (usually they are voicing hentai under aliases). Well... Yeah. That's bad.

Or we will wait fan-restoration patch, or... Waiting 18+ DLC? But it has low possibility...

That's exactly the reason why I'm so irritated that they're selling the game so cheap. I'm pretty sure that they could sell more copies for even 2 - 3 times that price if they'd just have included the H-scenes. I mean, how expensive are those voice royalties just for the H-scenses? Greater than the whole rest of the voices + the entire translation + the whole management cost to localize the title? Seriously?! I mean, do they have the British queen doing an H-scene or what?

Good that you guys didn't even bother reading my post!!!

Nah, I read it but I just don't buy it. Harukaze itself obviously doesn't care about all ages at all and I don't really get why their rebrand Tokyotoon should, except for the translation studio not willing to deal with adult content. Besides that, they can always do the same like Sekai Project and stay 'totally' all ages by cheating in the porn through another brand.

They obviously do care about all-ages content though.

They have expanded to anime, light-novels and even mobile games.

Advertising with the train company was also for the "anime" because you can't do that with porn just like Maitetsu showed us when their thing was cancelled. Harukaze believes that if they want to make it big then eroge is not gonna cut it. You need to appeal to bigger masses and I think Harukaze can do it with their IPs.

They did make a new company though, at the end of the day. There was no reason for them to release one of their eroge IPs under that new brand in the west. They could have used Harukaze, which is already an 18+ brand, which won’t change. So, they absolutely could have done an 18+ release here, and chose not to to save money, simple as that. That doesn’t really show much care for the west if you ask me

Yes there was??? How dumb can you be and not understand such a simple thing???

First of all, watch your language, that's the second time you've done this in this thread. If you want to actually explain your point, go ahead, but if you're just here to insult people, you might as well just refrain from posting.

To reiterate my point, Harukaze wanting to create an all-ages brand does not change what they have already released in the past under their current label. So, them releasing an old IP, Noratoto, in the west 18+ would not change anything. It's exactly the same game, and anyone actually googling the game will find the 18+ content anyways. It's an eroge, after all. In other words, their all-ages re-brand and their release of Noratoto could absolutely have been separate things, done under the two different brands. And since it has already been stated directly by their partners that the reason for the censored release was voice license costs, it's very obvious that this was just a move done to save money, not specifically a move done tactically along with this re-branding.
