VNs with rap/hip hop aesthetic

This game has some BGM with what I think is hip-hop elements, but that's the only hip-hop element it has.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the genre... You can judge the one with the most "influence" for yourself: https://clyp.it/gfzknzot

By the way, Akatoki is my biggest "general" recommendation. A VN that is likely to be enjoyed by the widest possible audience.

This is coming from my generalized experiences, but you won't find any rap-influenced JVNs out there.  Part of this is because rap never went beyond a niche of a niche of a niche music genre over in Japan (hip-hop had more success), and part of it is that Japanese culture already had a pre-existing style that was similar in superficial ways (shamisen-accompanied  bunraku).

Hip-hop accompanied break-dancing still has a niche following that is pretty solid over there, though.

I honestly can't recall any hip-hop music in the VNs I've played... but part of that is that very little to no genre distinction is present in VN OSTs.  The primary musical styles (as I can recall) are classic instrumental, Japanese instrumental, techno, what can only be called 'video game music', and j-pop.  There is very little variance.

For EVNs, though, I can't say.

You want something like Samurai Champloo, Boondocks and Afro Samurai. Sadly, there are no other anime like them, much less visual novels. I've looked.

I wanted to find something urban. I was born in the city so I love this kind of atmosphere. Concrete jungle.

There is Collage. It uses real pictures, the story is decent and the soundtrack is nice, if not a bit repetitive - the songs are loops taken from the Internet. Not hip hop, though.

Where did you find punk and heavy metal VNs? I know about Kira Kira and that was awesome.

I wasn't expecting Sex Pistols and Kamen Rider references (I also love tokusatsu).

There's also Rock Robin but I haven't played it, and Love, Money and Rock 'n' Roll is not out yet.

Your best bet would be waiting for an OELVN developer to create a hip-hop themed game. They have original and interesting ideas sometimes, you know?

Maybe read graphic novels. I can't recommend any that fit the criteria but you should be able to find something via Google search.

I think Lynne might have some of that grimy urban atmosphere, not sure if it's what you're after though lol since this would be a musical descendent at best - you can listen here https://sleepyagents.bandcamp.com/album/lynne-ost

Beside the musical aspect, it's set in rundown, low class England and you can feel it. The graphics match as well.

I've heard praise for Ebi-hime's works. Looks pretty cool.

I'll look around and see if I can find anything else.
