Despite making huge profit from Aokana series they decided to abandon eroge industry and their announced games because "the profit didn't meet their expections" and moved to mobile games. After their mobile game failed they came back to Aokana to take easy money away from their fans who they don't give a damn about.

The people writing the story and making the engine etc has nothing to do with those sorts of decisions anyway

The people writing the story are also freelance so you can support them in other ways. It's not like the creative staff gets any royalties from the product either.  Do you support companies that use child labor too because the children did nothing wrong??? Sprite is here to just milk you and then disappear again after they can't milk Aokana anymore. If you want to support people who have already multiple times showed that they don't give a shit about their customers then feel free to do so. Wouldn't surprise me if they make a kickstarter for the games too to maximize profit.

I'll just bluntly say that using children labor as analogy is quite inappropriate to say it lightly and rude at worst, so the less said about that the better even if it's to prove the point (And that's all for what I can say).

For EXTRA 2, good for sprite I guess in that we finally have them revive. But then again I'm sort of didn't care much for fandisc, so I'll just pass on this. Of course if the fans still want to support them, then so be it. Besides if you do the research enough, I think you should see that some of Japanese fans could be quite passionate with their purchase even with the fact that sprite did quit the VN industry before came back. Whether it can help them in the long run or not, we'll see.

Why I'm not surprised? But anyway at least it's good to know that there'll be some censored contents on PS4, and you can just get the uncensored version by just play the PC version. Then again, some child may only have PS4 so at least it should be suitable for them if somehow they want to play Aokana.

The Switch version will be completely uncensored too, as far as I know. (Well, aside from removal of the 18+ content, obviously.)
It's kinda funny how it's Sony who goes to town with the ban hammer nowadays. Nintendo used to censor products for the sake of aiming for a younger audience, while Sony was trying to brand PlayStation a mature platform, but now the roles are reversed, with several games being released uncut for Switch while the PS4 versions are censored to some extent.

After seeing reactions about the altered PS4 version of Aokana, PQube are apparently conducting a survey about censored releases. No idea if it's going to make any difference in the end, but I'm at least glad they're not just ignoring the issue.

As of right now, only 16.8% are willing to buy the censored version, and the rest will either buy the game on a different platform or not at all.

I dont get Sony, they wont censor Western games (a game just released a while ago with some graphic scenes) but for some reason Japanese games are evil?

Yeah, they're having some sort of weird crusade against anime-style content for the western market. It wouldn't be as upsetting if they at least were consistent about censorship, but western studios seem to be free to do more or less whatever they want, including showing nudity as long as it's not downright pornographic.

I think that the censorship here is because most of the girls in Aokana [all the heroines] are underage or at least look underage. It's very complicated, even with the famous "Every character is an adult" warning and Sony could be heavily criticized for it. It's different when say The Witcher does nudity, because there the characters look like and are adults.

At the same time, they have no problems with, say, approving bikini DLC in Persona 5, where the purpose isn't to act as bathing suits, but rather only to let players check out the bodies of confirmed 15-17-year-olds.

Yeah, a big part of the problem is that some games seem to be exempt from censorship rules while others are not. It reminds me a lot of the wishy washy, inconsistent censoring on Steam (for VNs in particular) which they have received a lot of flak for.
