Sanoba Witch

My review/comments on Sanoba Witch can be found on my Fuwablog, at the link below.  Feel free to discuss it with me here, though I also appreciate commentary on the actual posts.  The review is split up into heroine paths, which I posted as I completed them.

Kujiragami no Tearstilla

I decided not to blog this one, because of how disappointing it was.  I was hoping for a possible resurrection of the quality I saw in Maikaze, Suzukaze, and Lunaris Filia... unfortunately, that wasn't what I got.  Of course, Whirlpool is probably the most straightforward mass-producer of charage out there... but this turned into another GIB surprisingly fast.  Unfortunately, I can't give this a passing rating for the VN of the Month...   I managed to complete all the paths within twelve hours... but it felt like all of those hours were wasted, when I was done.  The true ending is ok... but I honestly felt like I'd wasted my time anyway.

Sakura Synchronicity

Similar to Tearstilla, I won't be blogging this one.  This game is a story-focused VN, meaning that it focuses on a distinct plot... to the detriment of the development of all the characters.

I don't mean to be a bastard... but this VN feels like they cloned the most annoying parts of Nekonade Distortion (another VN by the same company) and grafted it onto a less screwy setting.  The atmosphere is definitely surreal... without the benefit of the emotionality that normally accompanies Japanese surrealism.  The common route is both short and boring, as are the heroine routes.  This is made worse by the fact that at the beginning the heroines were fairly interesting... until the VN abruptly heads for individual routes and yet still manages to fail to develop the characters significantly enough to allow you to identify with them.

I honestly don't know what they were thinking with this one... but it obviously wasn't anything intelligent, despite the fact that the actual sci-fi aspects would have been interesting, if they'd put forth the effort to make the rest of the VN so.

Edit:  The biggest beef I had with this was Rise's path, which was unbelievably detached and flat...  I don't think I've ever encountered such an unemotional bit of drama.

^__^

Same one I used, btw I'd recommend doing the route order Clephas recommended. Yumi>Azusa>Iyo>Kotori.

Yeah I am now on Yumi's route I think. Yumi is so freaking hot, I mean too hot idek how this could get any better lol

Btw thanks for the reply guys! :D

In the above blog post, I announce February's VN of the Month, as well as asking you all for your opinions on which of three VNs I should play first for VN of the Month for March's releases.  If you read this, feel free to vote and help decide which of those three I will play first.

Think about the nature of the oni he made.  There is no way they could qualify as heroines, and even they say that.

The pic is of Reinhardt Heydrich from Dies Irae, one of the two primary antagonists.

My posts for Shirogane Spirits and Hananono (new Applique game)

That's five VNs so far from March... to be honest, I'm really getting worn down.  I like VNs, but while Hananono was a good VN, it didn't give me the huge emotional stress relief I was looking for (despite Ouka's path being good).  Saga Planets' VN looks mediocre from everything I saw of it, and I'm really reluctant to play it at all (I'm tempted to permanently shelf it from what I'm reading online).  A lot of it was that Minato soft's new VN was such a huge disappointment... but I really need an emotional nakige or a powerful utsuge to let me blow off some emotional steam.  Unfortunately, neither Saga Planets nor Pulltop really looks like it is going to fulfill that desire (why the heck did so many old-hand VN makers produce VNs for March?  At this rate I'll have to play eight VNs just to get a full run of the non-gameplay field of decent-looking non-nukige).

This is my link to the pages for March's releases.  I am completely done - though without playing Mirai Kanojo - and I'm not interested in continuing (the new month's releases are already coming out, lol).  For those who are interested... the contest between the VNs came down to a four-way fight between Shirogane, Hanasaki, Valkyrie, and Utakata.  Naturally, I considered them all as fairly as possible, but in the end I picked Hana no No ni Saku Utakata no as VN of the Month March 2015

These are the two games I've completed so far this month, Chrono Clock and Kami no Rhapsody.  I think that, other than Bansenjin, these were the ones people were looking forward to the most from April.  On to Bansenjin...
