With the first panel (Jast on Day 0) less than 24 hours away (unless f-up with the timetables) it's time to pull this thread up again. Usually Otakon is the convention I look forward to the most in regards to VN announcements but I have a feeling there was quite a bit of hype on twitter surrounding this AX, which kind of got me excited. And looking back, last AX at least had 2 announcements that I am looking forward to and the year before there was the Baldr Sky announcements, so there is the potential for really great news. Let's hope that JAST steps up their game and lead with some nice announcements first.

Am I the only one wondering why MangaGamer is bringing MIN-NARAKEN? It points towards the announcement with an old partner is Alicesoft, but I can't spot an obvious VN to match here. The only Rance title not already released by MG where he was involved is Kichikuou Rance, but there is already a fan translation out for it. I assume they want to see how it goes with Sengoku Rance before announcing anything else with an already released fan translation. Also I don't view that one as an obvious choice for the next Rance announcement. To make it even less likely, no less than two Rance titles have been announced, which haven't been released yet. This points towards something else, but which one? Most likely something not directly connected with anything already released by MG, hence no clues in the MG release history.

Also it looks like Sengoku Rance is 100% translated and edited, but still without a release date. I wouldn't be surprised if we get such a date shortly.

My wishlist is without a doubt that MG will release the remakes of Rance 1+2+3, since they are really missing in the overall Rance storyline. I think they will eventually, but it doesn't look like they will be announced anytime soon.

guess there´s only this many staffmembers available coming to work on these 3 titles, all or most already being busy doing segoku/quest/whatnot. sure mg could just go and contract another bunch of whomever, but since consistency is a thing i´d rather have them otherwise. not to mention they´re pretty much into the series, which also reflects on the overall reading experience. and them remakes getting handled eventually isn´t even worth speculating, rance is popular as fuck, sells as fuck and would inevitably lead to mg getting fucked in the butt by fans if trying to say: nah fuck rance, we´ve done enough, let´s move on.

If I may suggest to OP @Formlose Gestalt here, you can list the announcement at the opening post as well, although you may already considered that though. Anyway as for the expectation while I understand AX hype here, I think it would be better to not have much expectation here. Of course any good announcement from AX should be welcomed, so more or less I kind of look forward to the announcement mildly.

For JAST announcement here, while I already have a lot of faith for them that they'll gonna announced something that will be either redundant or just a small title lol, their tweet in regard of Nitroplus VN is slightly interesting. We can guess what kind of Nitroplus VN that they'll announce, but I guess Kikokugai here should be the safest guess because it already did have the translation. Of course if JAST want to announce something like either Sumaga release month estimation or Muramasa license, then be my guest there. Although it would be nice though if they can announced something like Chaos Head, because it's been sitting there for nine years and yet we already have the spiritual sequel for that (Chaos Child) was officially localized, and that's not into Steins Gate. I'll comment on JAST announcement later at this afternoon.

JAST announcements:

  • Flowers Summer and Trample on Schatten BOTH releasing on July 16th, with early copies available at AX.
  • Togainu no Chi, Lamento, and Dramatical Murder announced for JAST Blue, their BL brand.
  • Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi. announced. This game is really popular.
  • Sweet Pool is coming soon, and not just "jast time soon."
  • Work on Flowers Autumn has started (though JAST already announced their intent to translate the entire series a few years ago)

I'm glad that finally my faith here is shattered partially by JAST did announced some newer title there lol, even though some of those were mostly BL. They already announced the exact date for two of their interesting title, in which it was already a big accomplishment from them compared to the last year AX. That said with JAST usual work pacing I afraid that Totono might become obsolete by the time they finished with this, especially if JAST did announced Totono just because DDLC trend - Totono is the one who preceded DDLC plot twist. In the end, what I can say is that JAST did better compared to the last year, so hopefully they could keep up like this in the next year.

PS - Too bad though there's no Muramasa or Chaos Head, but I guess it can't be helped here.

It's good to hear that Trample on Schatten is coming out soon.  That's honestly a surprise.  But N+C has something like eight titles.  Did they really just announce all of them?  Or did they announce they have access to them?  KtKtKnK is also a good announcement, but they didn't have anything to add for Sumaga or Django?

I'm not bitter or anything, but I'm fairly certain JAST acquired Django before Rome fell and we're still waiting ... just sayin' :(

There was actually django news at the panel!

It's canceled.

No, really. They said that unless Nitro+ ever releases a windows 10 version (not a guarantee), it's never happening.

Reddit is saying that in the Q&A, Jast said Django won't be coming because it doesn't work on Windows 10.  I've asked for confirmation in Jast's forum.

Edit: Damn ninjas.  Quit reading my mind like that, Decay.  You'll go blind.

That would explain why Django was stuck in 'awaiting translation' for literally years.  They put it on the back burner when Win10 released.  Three years ago.  Did they say anything about Sumaga?  That game was 70% through editing but it seems to have also completely stalled.

So Django joins La Voyeur: Used Condom and Newscaster Mariko and Slave Bazaar, and one other Nitroplus title Jingai Makyou.  Hopefully they won't now start denying they ever announced it (like they did to JM!)

Ask about Sumaga while you're at it. I'm curious if that's in the same boat.

So am I. Sumaga seems to have completely stalled the same as Django, literally no progress in a very long time. My thread is here: http://discuss.jastusa.com/discussion/255270/so-outlaw-django-is-officially-cancelled-now/p1?new=1  (And yes, if anyone cares (probably not) I am the same Nandemonai whose account on that board dates back to, like, 2001.)

btw any news on Majikoi? Based on their twitter it seems like they handed out demos, anything else like a rough release date?

Btw on http://discuss.jastusa.com/discussion/255270/so-outlaw-django-is-officially-cancelled-now/p1?new=1 the comment Nandemonai got back was "That's a misunderstanding. It's still in the works."

Well, that was fast.  A Jast USA employee responded to my post saying "That's a misunderstanding. It's still in the works."  So I guess Django is not cancelled.

Edit:  Ninja'ed again.  Someone should call some pirates and get those scurvy dogs off the forum, arrr

No real news. They handed out the demo, then moved on without saying anything about the actual status of the translation.

Panel video here btw: https://www.pscp.tv/w/1BRKjeOQApBxw It's sideways, so watch it on your phone or rotate your monitor. :P
