KonoSora / IMHHW ReTranslation patch

Perhaps it would help if people could create checksums of the different versions so it can be established what similarities/differences exist, and which files may be useful to provide to the authors. Here's the Pulltop 15th Anniversary pack version:

For those that want to do the same, grab md5.exe from here:

https://www.fourmilab.ch/md5/

and place it in your Konosora folder. Then create a batch file with this:

@echo off
for /r %%f in (*) do md5.exe %%f >> output.txt

and run it. Alternatively, you can just run this:

for /r %f in (*) do md5.exe %f >> output.txt

from a command prompt (running from the same folder).  If you are not running in JP locale you may need to temporarily change the folder name to English characters first. Obviously only create checksums of vanilla versions, not ones already patched with the translation.

Actually I was the only one form the original Restoration patch team who kept working on this all the time. Avi8Tor and MeruP joined a while after the old patch was released, and that's pretty much the core team. Others either came and went or joined for the final QC/testing a few months ago (well, it was almost a year ago actually...) - and Ange definitely did most of the work in that regard.

Personally, I managed to stay committed to it only because I'm stupidly stubborn and don't like leaving things unfinished. :P
In the end, this is the VN that got me into translating stuff (and that in turn significantly improved not only my Japanese, but also my writing skills), so I really wanted to see this project through. Well, I did take a few breaks due to insufficient motivation, but each time I somehow managed to come back to working on it.

That's interesting. I didn't know that it was mostly a solo project by you and you've pretty much answered what I was going to ask too, lol.

If you don't mind me asking a bit more:

- Were there any major points where you decided to give up on it completely? Anything that just made you feel like giving up in general?

 - Another thing I was curious about is your motivation in doing this. I could guess one of the reasons why since I read your summary page for this project a long-time ago but I'm not sure if that was your whole drive in this.

- I'm a bit curious about asking this question; What was your biggest obstacle when doing this project? The most tricky thing in your work that you have trouble progressing.

Sorry for bombarding you again with these sort of questions but thank you humoring me too, haha.

First, I'd like to thank you for all your work with this re-translations. I'm an amateur translator too so I understand what we're talking about :)Now, just for info, I want to report you a little bug I've just found in Ageha's route, not so long after

Spoiler

the date at Windy:

It only lasts a fraction of second but I thought I'd report it anyway. Keep up the good work!

I've been following this project pretty much from day one and seeing it finally being complete makes me very happy. I admire you for taking the titanic effort to translate a VN as long as this. I just registered to say that you guys are awesome and have all of my gratitude. Good luck with any new projects you might work in the future.

So had to make an account to ask about this error. First CONGRATS! on finishing the translation. I've held off on playing KonoSora for 2 years when i found out about moe's failure and then found this project.

So the issue I am having is that I can Download the .bin file which is 2gb in size just fine. However when ever I try to download the .exe file it errors or comes up with virus warning or said it can't run on this pc and refuses to download. I have tried 3 different browsers, and again with all 3 browsers WITH windows firewall and ALL antivirus/malware protection turned fully off and it still wont download. This is for the steam version without the Chinese translation dlc and full fresh install but that should have nothing to do with the error.

Can anyone help  please!?

Yeah, I'm running into a similar issue where Avast thinks the Steam patch .exe is a TR/Dropper.Gen virus and quarantines it on run. Malwarebytes doesn't see any problem with it, though.

EDIT: Also, just to add to the above, I did also get a similar message about not being able to run it. Something about not having enough resources to run or something. Though I suspect it has something to do with the fact that it was already being quarantined at the point I saw that pop-up.

I've run into a very strange problem with the Steam version. The patch installs fine, but for some reason with the patch, I can't load. I click load at the title screen and it just crashes. The weirdest part is that if I try this with the unpatched version, it works fine! I cannot for the life of me figure out what the trouble is. Quicksaving and loading works, so long as you do it after hitting new game... Is this because I'm running the game with Wineskin, somehow?

Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3... Ahem.

Okay, so I just created my account for Fuwanovel  (all because of IMHHW too ;)) and this is literally the very first post I make, so bear with me.

I tried to install the retranslation patch, and it gives me the "wrong folder specified/not supported version" error. I do not know what I am doing wrong, but it can be lots of reasons.

One, maybe my version of the game is not supported after all. The thing is, I do not know what version I'm using. For those of you who are wondering if I'm just an idiot, let me explain:

Back when I tried to install the game and all the patches myself, things did not work as expected. I could install the game with no trouble, but when I tried to install the Restoration patch and the Sweet Love patch, the game would go nuts and give me tons of different errors. Followed all the guides that were available on Steam, but they didn't help much. I even got a fellow from Steam to walk me through the entire process of installing the game and the patches from scratch, but even though I closely followed his instructions, the game would still not work the way it should.

If you're wondering why I'm telling you all this, trust me. There's a reason. Moving on.

So, after everything else failed, we resorted to a different kind of solution: my friend uploaded all of his game files on MEGA, allowing me to download them and play the game with all patches already installed. And it worked perfectly, save for the problems that occured during an attempt to play through Sweet Love. Thankfully, downloading the Missing Sprites fix from Steam fixed these problems.

Which brings me to my question... how do I check what version of KonoSora I have? Because I never asked that fellow from Steam what version he was using, and I'm using a copy of his version. So, is there a way to know what version I'm using?

ALSO... another reason that the Retranslation patch might not be working is because... well, my game is not exactly installed anywhere. I did not have to go through an installation, the game is not displayed as an installed program anywhere. All I do is go to the folder I keep the game in and launch the game to start playing.

YET another reason it might not be working... I'm using NTLEA to launch the game. I do not make any changes to my locale everytime I want to play KonoSora. Not sure if this has to do anything with the patch not working for me.

And a last reason... maybe I'm just an idiot and I keep specifying the wrong folder for the patch to be installed in. But as dumb as I am, I think that I'm selecting the right folder. I keep the game in my Downloads folder. When I attempt to install the patch, I select the main game folder that's located... in the Downloads folder. That's what I'm supposed to do, isn't it?

I forgot to mention that I'm using Win10 64-bit. Useless piece of information. Or maybe it has something to do with the patch refusing to be installed. I dunno.

So, um... can anyone help?

So, uh. You're trying to install the patch on already once patched version? I don't think that will work. The patch needs either clean Steam version or one of the japanese versions....and you should know which version you have (either it's from steam or you used the original japanese installer).

Confirmed compatibility:

  2. First MoeNovel versions from 2013 (https://vndb.org/r26773 and https://vndb.org/r26773)
Steam version without the Chinese language DLC (last checked update - March 8th 2018)

Btw @Pabloc , this might be an issue for some http://store.steampowered.com/news/externalpost/steam_community_announcements/2365952982542831448 it's like moenovel noticed there is a better restoration patch and blocked it by that (damn asses)

I also noticed these two small errors https://imgur.com/a/c7W3z and another three a bit after those two on Ageha's route https://imgur.com/a/f1qiF https://imgur.com/a/LKKzl https://imgur.com/a/ypkpO

if someone can provide the files, support for other JP editions may be added.

What specific files do you require? I imagine the exe at a bare minimum, but anything else? I posted the file hashes of my version earlier in the thread in the hope of establishing differences between versions.

I've been lurking here for some time, but decided to register to thank PabloC and team for this patch.

I've read old version of Kotori route and quite liked it (it was readable ;-) ), however then I tried Ageha, and I couldn't figure out what was happening. So I decided to wait for retranslation - and here it is. Thank you!

I installed it on Steam version, and it works flawlessly for me. Today it autoupdated to the version mentioned above, but the game still works and shows as MeruP patch, so I think it isn't broken.

The translation reads really good. There are some typos, but nothing gamebreaking. Thank you for aiming for "translation" rather than "localization" - that was the thing that bugged me about Chrono Clock TL - everything was OK (even "inverted" DD's speak) except "americanized" protagonist dropping f-bombs every second sentence ;-)

Look at the picture again and read the other sentences too... -_-

You mean that the sentence seems to be repeating?

Where  does this scene take place, common route first part, in the simulator or are they flying?

@Avi8TorIt's during the first simulator scene. Amane is explaining what pitching, yawing and rolling is. You can clearly see the first sentence in the picture is supposed to be different since that's the last sentence about pitching. Also because right after that Amane begins talking about yawing....now shhh

pppfff took me a while to find the sentence in the raw script, but I found it! https://imgur.com/a/3iJ3Q (left is original; right is edited)

Apparently it is a copy and paste error that happened during the QC. Nice catch! @garine

Oh and did you just shush me...?
