I do remember googling some images for Mitsuru from Persona 3 back in the day to satisfy my own curiosity, and the fact I thought she was hot. But I wouldnt have wanted sex scenes with her in the game.

My feelings on this overwhelmingly contradict your own.

Mitsuru is one of my waifus~

Interestlingly I just finished Runas route in hatsukoi and the first H scene was so awkward it actually felt charming. I think when there are H-scenes in a game it gives some depth to the relationships and when I don't really want to watch them then I just skip it. To me when a game is missing the H scenes it feels like some content was cut and it annoys me, but I'm just wierd that way.

I wouldn't say they overwhelmingly contradict mine lol. If I was going to have a "Waifu" she would probably be one. I have just never descended into the anime fires of having Waifus lol (dont see the point). An overwhelming contradiction would be if I said I hate her and thought she was ugly -.-.

When I first played Persona 3 back in 2008 I was 18 (I am old), I wasnt like, omg this fake girl is so hot I must fap to her immediately but damn Atlus didnt give me a sex scene with her =(. I was just like hmm she is pretty cool and pretty hot >> Google: Mitsuru hentai pics > Results > Oh right, yea that looks kinda good > Fap to some hentai or porn (or if I was lucky do the real thing, usually the fap tho).

Let me rephrase it, I would not want Poorly executed and written sex scenes in persona 3 with the girls, it would have cheapened the game imo. If they were done well I would not mind. Social links for the girls are kind of like mini-VNs anyway lol, the issue is, I am not sure the social links provide enough time for the writers to execute sex scenes well anyway. Plus, even if the Japanese release had sex scenes on it, they would never make it on EU/US release.

No I agree completely that h-scenes wouldn't have helped persona. It wasn't long enough and it would have required a lot of effort to make it viable or good.

It's just that the concept of not wanting to fap to mitsuru baffles me.:nico:

I don't think I can recall a single case where an explicitly written out consensual sex scene (rape/assault is often used for characterization/shock value, and isn't what we're talking about here) meaningfully develops a duo's relationship in a VN.

Cannonball, Saya no uta, Katawa Shoujo, Swan Song... those are just from my high ratings. it's not hard.

What really annoys me is shit like Dracu-Riot with its 30 minute scens of just cocksucking and sweettalking. Scenes like this just full of lame faked emotion vanilla trash. This is where CTRL comes in.

Long H-scenes are perfect for someone like me who goes back to watch some of them for fap purposes (thank god for the gallery H scene system existing)

Stuff like Dracu-Riot, MajiKoi, Evangile, etc that have long H-scenes are better than stuff than like Wanko to kurasou which has like 2-3 minutes Hscenes

Since we're on topic, why Fuwa doesn't have a "fap" reaction?

Forum life would be more honest like this. "Like" sometimes is not quite wrong but not quite right.

Seconded

Although this might be an eroge forum, I don't want it to drown in vulgarity. <_<

Nothing against some suggestive comments from time to time if they come with a twinkle in the eye, but I'd find such a 'reaction' on a post of mine borderline insulting. I prefer the reaction types to keep a certain 'innocence'.

Well, while it wasn't my idea, I don't think the emote would have to be this explicit to serve the suggested purpose. I imagine the actual implementation being something much closer to "hot" than "******* all over the screen".

... or at least I hope that such mild variant would be satisfying enough for most of those interested. :D

It doesn't have to be a fap emote per say. I would be happy with something like this?

I don't care for them unless the game is specifically centered around them and even then I'll probably end up looking at regular ol' porn...

Usually the writing just goes out the window and I'm subjected to overlong descriptions of what I can plainly see happening before me. I'm good with the anatomy lesson thanks. That and the fact that the girl has to give me a play by play of everything that I'm doing to her. Yes I know my dick is inside of you, and that I'm fucking you, and that your hips are moving on their own, why do you keep reminding me?? (maybe because it's usually blurred out she thinks I don't know?)

Plus by some awful decree every girl in a Vn has to be a virgin so I'm subjected to a whole lot of blood letting. Like do we have to see that? It's gross...

Aren't you just as bad by saying "don't you ever"? He's free to have his opinion, as are you. Don't get your tits in a twist because someone insulted your fap material.

Wrong, you can have your opinion but don't try to force it on other people.

I find the western VN fanbase's attitude towards H-scenes quite fascinating. I can't think of any other type of media where releasing most of a game with some content cut out, then releasing a patch, (which is now often being called "DLC" by wester localization companies,) is the norm. DLC in itself is not new. Actually taking out a part of what was originally in the game, selling it separately, and calling that DLC is very strange. If this was done to a standard video game, people would most likely be quite angry. (Again, refering to the actual removal of content meant to be in the game from the start, then charging people for said content with the "DLC" tag.)

Secondly, the need to find "story relevance" in H-scenes is quite perplexing to me. Of course, in a small handful of cases porn in VNs will be relevant to the story, but... that's not the norm, not at all. But, why would anyone think it would be? It's porn, what did you expect?
That being said, people's opinion that if it isn't important to the story, we can actually REMOVE IT from the game is even more confusing. There will always be things in fiction that doesn't drive the story forward directly. Can you honestly say that every single sentence in a book supports the story? Every joke, every conversation, every line of narration? That every single second of a movie does the same?
The idea that just because the H in an eroge, something that was in the original version, isn't resulting in crazy plot developments we can remove it, is objectively weird.

It's crazy just how big a difference there is on this point when comparing the Japanese and western VN fanbase. In Japan, the general idea I have gotten from the fans is; An all-ages game? Ehh, no H?
In fact, non-H games often gets items in the special edition clearly meant to fill that "No H?!" gap. Lewd artbooks, tapestries and so on.
It's interesting to see just how big of a difference there is between the fans on the two sides of the market.

Oh and my personal stance on H-scenes in VNs in general; I like them there. If the game has them originally, I want them there. If the game has the approach of Eden* and Corona Blossom with optional H, I personally always choose the H version. (And, I do have to admit, if the game is all-ages, I often do find myself wanting a couple of H-scenes.)

This! My issue is that people think H scenes should be removed because they serve no true purpose in the story or that specific reader does not like H scenes. I find many members of Fuwanovel to be strange concerning this. I have gone to many other VN/Eroge forums and their is rage if the H content is removed, or even if it is there and there is mosaic censorship.

I still think the best option is how it's implemented in Comyu..

Literally just have an in-game option to Enable H-scenes.

Have it off by default for people who care about 'story integrity'. Have horny bastards like me keep it on for everything.

The best option I've ever seen in a VN is "Chest bounciness" in freaking Nekopara :makina:
