MangaGamer commits to free uncensor patches for Steam releases

From MangaGamer's official blog:

Quote

[...] we managed to reach an understanding with Valve regarding patches.

Going forward it will be our general policy to provide free content patches for all Steam releases whenever possible where there are content differences between versions. Technical issues or contractual obligations with specific developers may make patching not possible for specific titles, but we will do our utmost to ensure that doesn’t happen. Should patching not be an option for a relevant title, we will inform you before it goes on sale.

We will be working to update some of our existing Steam titles with content patches in the future; however, as our previous Steam releases were designed as separate versions, it may not be immediately possible for some older releases. [...]

So people will have poorly drawn and completely out of context porn so they can fap, YAY!!

Say what you will, but some Vns pull the sex scenes very well (and they have very good CGs as well!).

As for MangaGamer's decision, I will now finally be able to actually buy most of their stuff. Since their site offered no regional pricing and thus killed any interest of mine.

Oh, that's so life... I can buy only in Steam, because regional prices. And now I'm so happy with free 18+ patches on Steam. Would be great to get that for Princess Evangile.

By the way, Dal Segno will possibly sell in Russian region for 600 rubles (~10 dollars). That's so great!

MangaGamer committing to free adult free patches is actually one area where they are far superior to Sekai Project and DenpaSoft.

For example, if someone wants the adult patch for any Nekopara title on Steam, he's forced to pay the same price AGAIN just to get the DLC from DenpaSoft - a DLC for the same price as the title itself!! And if we consider sales like the current summer sale, you can get the originals even cheaper than the DLC's, since Sekai and DenpaSoft doesn't seem to understand the meaning of a sale yet. At least I can't remember neither Sekai Project nor DenpaSoft ever having a sale on their respective homepage. And then they act 'suprised' why nobody wants to buy titles from their homepage and just goes to Steam instead.

If you buy the whole 18+ version off of Denpasoft or off of Nekoworks, you pay twice as much as the all-ages version on Steam. You make it sound like Steam users get shafted, but they pay as much as anyone else who buys the 18+ version.

The SP spin is that it's a $20 game, and they cut Steam users a deal by charging half the price for the all-ages version. As it currently stands, it's not really a meaningful distinction, but I'm sure that if any change is ever made to the pricing of future Nekopara games, it will be to raise the cost of the all-ages version, not to lower the price of the adult version.
