Need help with ITH failed to attach to process error

Hi. hopefully i post this to the correct sub forum.

So, Up until 2 weeks ago, there's no problem in me using ITH/TA/ATLUS/MECAB combo.
however suddenly when i tried to re-read a VN i finished before recently, ITH can't attach any VNs i have. Usually, the ITH would automatically attach the VNs for me, even for the first time running the VN.
However since yesterday, It cannot attach any VNs (all VNs i have) or programs if that matters. it always give me the same error : "Failed to attach ITH to the process"
while on the ITH main screen itself, it ends with "Can't create remote thread."

and usually, when you open ITH app, the ITH will always show the ITH descriptions right?  this one:
"Interactive Text Hooker 3.0 (09.08.2015 Tue)
Copyright (C) 2010-2012  kaosu ([email protected])
Source code <https://code.google.com/p/interactive-text-hooker/>
General discussion <https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/interactive-text-hooker>
If you feel tired about the pure white background,
put your favorite picture in ITH folder and name it 'background.bmp'"

now. ITH don't show those descriptions when I open it. Just a white page now.

I'm running on windows 10 64bit
I tried reinstalling ITH v2.3 + ITH fix for w10
I'm always ITH running on administrator
system locale of course set to Japanese
and i tried running ITH on compatibility mode windows 7 and 8.
repaired my C++ (x64)
none of the above works.

Oh and i had a similiar problem with ITHVNR but after google-ing around and repair my C++ whatever it somehow attached to a VN but with less or no hook. only that "0xFFF-somethingConsoleOutput" option.

I'm hesitant to use agth since agth don't always hook the whole text in the VN.
Chiitrans don't hook any address as well

Hence my post. Any advices to solve this is very much appreciated.

Another person reported a similar issue with chiitans earlier.

I would see if you have .net framework 4.7 installed via windows updates and undo that.

Ah yup. Saw that thread already and I do have .net framework 4.7 installed somehow but I don't see it in my windows update over the control panel>add/remove programs>windows update.

Googled how to revert to 4.6 from 4.7 and found no answers / Unable to find dependable guides.

I have Microsoft Visual C++ (x64) and (x86) updated over windows update this early april which i can uninstall tho. I'm not really a computer geek so i dunno what effects it can do if i carelessly uninstall windows things :(

I don't have Win10 so I can't really verify the accuracy but I found this - https://www.howtogeek.com/235474/how-to-roll-back-builds-and-uninstall-updates-on-windows-10/

(btw, less is more when searching. Start broadly and if you get too many results slowly add terms to narrow things down)

Dunno if .NET framework is updated separately or as part of major system updates. My guess is probably both as needed. So if you don't see a specific update for .NET it might have been included in a system upgrade/rollup/whatever-the-f-they-call-them.

This of course assumes that ITH is a .NET program. No idea.

Thanks for the search and the google tip!

tried the guides on the how to geek page you shown but the options in that website is different with this updated w10.
my guess is that page is outdated since it is made in 2015 and windows has made many UI changes since then.
the uninstall update option is not here on my windows.

and yea. i searched it at the control panel > add/remove programs (here) > installed updates (and here) as well for this freaking .net but still can't find it.

Are you even trying? Seriously that article might have been outdated but there are plenty more. Search for "Windows 10 revert update".

Also I don't know why you keep saying add/remove programs as the page I linked says - open the Settings app, navigate to Update & security > Windows Update, select “Advanced options”, select “View your update history”, and then select “Uninstall updates”...

Once you get to your list of installed updates you should be able to see the most recent ones. If there is none for .NET it might have been included in a new windows build (assuming you got one recently). In which case using the first "recovery" option is probably your only choice. Keep in mind that you always run the risk of breaking things. I'd backup any data you have up before I pull the trigger.

Like you said it might have changed slightly but I doubt it has significantly and there is always more recent articles...

You will need to uninstall the Windows 10 creators update if you want to revert to .net framework 4.62. You can also try using ITHVNR which is pretty much functionally identical to ITH but still works with the latest windows update (atleast for me). Here's a link  https://mega.nz/#!4JdElKzS!EHW9XKh1u88wIv_BWoLYZhLA9VbcGtjX-1vUK9hic8E.

Some VNs that work with ITH won't work for ITHVNR, VNR, or any other hooker I know of.

Sorry for the long update! Tried your ITHVNR and it works only for.. some VNs.

to be specific, It works perfectly with VNs like Ao no kanata and clover days.
It works for Karenai Sekai to Owaru Hana but full of repetitive words which still persists even if i check auto suppress repetitive words at the ITHVNR options.
Now for the VN i want to continue reading is Koi x Shin Ai Kanojo which i have no problem reading with ITH before, and ITHVNR can't hook a single text out of it :(

I have no recollection of installing this windows 10 creators update... I don't even know whether it's installed or not in my laptop.
and yes i tried, i visited sites like :
http://windowsreport.com/uninstall-windows-10-creators-update/
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollback-uninstall-windows-10-creators-update
https://betanews.com/2017/04/11/how-to-rollback-and-uninstall-windows-10-creators-update/
http://winaero.com/blog/uninstall-windows-10-creators-update/

all of it are 2017 April posts

and by far the most helpful is:

http://pureinfotech.com/uninstall-windows-10-creators-update/
which told me i can't uninstall it if i don't have the option shown in the windows 10 settings and there's no C:\Windows.old

....i missed my old windows 10. At this point, i'm thinking of giving up the effort and just do a clean install sometime when holiday comes.

and maybe from what i tried, VNs like Koikake and Karaseka don't work with ITHVNR.
