Has anyone read the JP release, and is it just as bad as it comes off as?

While it might look like Nekopara and has fluffy moments with cat girls it is still different from Nekopara on many levels.

Of course it is still a short game that isn't exactly good but it wasn't bad either.

Fair enough.  SP certainly went out of their way to pick screenshots that made the two look extremely similar, though.  Chibi artwork, check.  Catgirls sleeping, check.  Talking about boobs, check.  Generic CG of protag holding both catgirls by his side, check.

Is the "bit of action" at the very bottom of the Steam description an exaggeration?  I can't imagine they'd have any satisfying fight scenes in a short, fluffy moe-filled VN.  If it's anything like Nekopara, the plot will just be an excuse to for the MC to play hide the pickle.

The ending is "bit of action" after all the fluff. (See the screenshot in the spoiler in my last post.)

I don't know if I can call those fights satisfying but it does have fighting scenes.

Despite Zeno's complaints there is a good chance this will sell well since Nekopara has done so well. I am hoping it does so that WP brings over some of their bigger and better titles with the emote system.

I think Nekopara is mindless, bland shit, so there wasn't really much chance of liking anything even remotely similar to it.

It's way too soon to tell.  Frontwing thought Corona Blossom was going to sell like hotcakes, and it didn't.  Karakara was apparently a disappointment, sales-wise.  Every attempt that's made to emulate the success of Nekopara seems to fall flat on its face, which suggests, IMO, that there are several outside factors (i.e. not just kemonomimi, moe and porn) that aren't being replicated.  Note that SP is only allowing people to stream the demo as well.  That doesn't bode well for sales.

Wasn’t Nekopara just a glorified gallery for people who were interested in a famous artist and her 2 famous cat creations?

I can think of two factors.  One, the e-mote system.  Sure, that didn't work out so well for Corona Blossom, but the game's writing was just terrible (and this is from someone who thought the best thing you could say about Nekopara was that it usually managed to not be boring).  But the main thing that I think Nekopara had was timing.  It was in the right place at the right time to explode.  There wasn't a lot of competition at the time.  Now there is.  You can't ever recreate that.

Edit: there's a third factor, actually.  The catgirls in Nekopara actually act like cats.

None of WP's titles use e-mote though?
