Doesn't Nutaku require using some kind of fake currency system though? It seems like a pain.

"Nutaku Gold".  I think it's a Paypal workaround, as they're a bunch of prudes and don't let people buy digital things related to sex.  It's still annoying as hell and makes people spend more money than they want to if they want to buy something.

What's the difference with DMM? Isn't DMM have Gold like Nutaku too?

Just wait till GOG starts to host 18+ stuff; it'll happen, sooner or later. When that happens, Nutaku will have no place of existence outside their previous, non-game related businesses.

Unlike shitty Steam, GOG doesn't host DRM-locked software and there's no need to be constantly online and logged into their services.

There's no need to be logged into Steam either. It has an offline mode, you know? And a lot of the VNs (most?) on it are DRM-free and can be played without even booting up the Steam client. Steam does not require DRM.

Also I doubt GOG is in a rush to allow 18+ content. The issues they face surrounding that are the same as those Steam faces.

JAST just posted a fascinating comment expressing an unusually frank attitude towards Nutaku and their place in the industry.

Nutaku has backing from both DMM and MindGeek (i.e. PornHub). They are able to leverage these connections to pull in Japanese developers through DMM, and internet traffic through MindGeek. It's a pretty powerful synergy.

That being said, their revenue sharing agreement will make it harder for publishers, like JAST and MG, to break even. We're watching to see how sales numbers go turnout.

We were actually just beginning some talks deeper cooperation with MG right before Nutaku was launched. That's not going to happen now that everyone in the industry is rushing to Nutaku.

I think MG and JAST are already on Nutaku for a few months now at least, they should already have some data on sales numbers ... I found an article from back in May this year when the partnership was announced between JAST/MG and Nutaku and I checked the Nutaku's downloadable games and I found Bazooka Cafe and Cho Dengeki Stryker listed so I guess they already have an indication of how those sold on Nutaku's platform.
