Chrono Clock Sudden Kickstarter Announced

Well, the title says it all. Sekai announced another Kickstarter for Chrono Clock (Not surprise here unless you just knew VN either today or yesterday). What interest me is that the goal was very low for VN with good production value (Only 20,000 goal here, while we knew some VN like that was had goal around 100,000 more). I don't care if Kickstarter becaming some kind of pre-order shop for Sekai here, but I thought I better share this news here. Any thought about this? Oh, and they also ask Nutaku here, so maybe 18+ version here?

We've already secured funding for the game to be fully translated into English, this campaign is focused on producing physical goods so there is little risk of backers not getting their items.

And Nutaku, ewww.  I don't know why they bothered partnering with them.  Makes me wonder if they're going to axe Denpasoft in the near future to cut hosting costs or something.

I don't really have a problem with a Kickstarter being used to sell some physical goods, but it says January 2017 for expected delivery/release, hah. The game is only 31% translated, there's no way it will ever make that date.  SP never hits its dates, but they should at least aim for something that is plausible!

They said there will be a Denpasoft version of the game sold at Nutaku so Nutaku won't be handling any censorship. Nutaku will just be a platform for Denpasoft. Me thinks :sachi:.

Then what is the point of even having a Denpasoft brand and site, then, if they're going to sell their products in a different company's digital storefront?  Why not MangaGamer (answer is obvious, but still)?  What about how they recently expressed interest in expanding their Denpasoft site?  Do they not care anymore?

I know they aren't going to make any changes, I just don't like Nutaku.  Any company that censors proof that they censored their products can fuck off.

They use Denpasoft to work on all their H-scene translations, editing and uncensored releases right? , maybe they're going to focus on that part of Denpasoft so that they can release uncensored versions of games more quickly and use Nutaku to sell. Maybe that is how they're going to expand Denpasoft. I'm just guessing though, i'm not well informed with the workings of Sekai.

Btw, why do you dislike Nutaku? as i said i'm not very informed and would like to understand why people react badly to Nutaku [not the first time i've seen someone mention Nutaku negatively]. Thanks :sachi:.

Nutaku had a history of censoring their DMM games(some sources say that this is due to their host is in Canada). IIRC they alter or remove lolis and replace tentacles with sex toys(usually dildos) so there's that(only case i heard in Millennium War Aegis). There's questionable localization/translations and lazy editing.

I have been playing Flower Knight Girl for a while and one thing I can say is that they don't censor the game(Glorious Hanamomo!). Bad translation and laziness is still intact though.

Nutaku said they freaking fixed their translation issues in the interview with LewdGamer (starting with Flower Knight Girls).  Were they lying through their teeth again?

Nobody here really knows how they split the work between SP and DS, and I don't feel that it's really safe to make any assumptions.  I know that the same translators work on both versions, at least in some cases, as koestl mentions translating the 18+ version of Grisaia no Meikyuu, and he was the person translating the version they published to Steam.  It wouldn't surprise me if they just did all the work with direct SP employees and then just drop it on Denpasoft's site, but again, I have no way of knowing if that's true.

No offense intended, but your suggestion doesn't really make a lot of sense.  SP recently announced several titles (Shining Song Starnova, Koi ga Saku Koro Sakura Doki and Boku to Koi Suru Ponkotsu Akuma, to name a few) that will be released on Denpasoft (yes, it actually said Denpasoft for 2/3 of those announcements) in the near future.  If they really were scrapping their storefront entirely, why would they do this?  The idea of this streamlining the release process is even more of a joke, as they tend to be late already, and SP as a company clearly prioritizes all-age Steam releases while putting their DS stuff on the backburner (their treatment of the Grisaia 18+ releases, for instance.  Still waiting for 18+ Meikyuu with pretty much nothing in the way of an update for quite a while now).  I also don't see how letting another company sell the games for them would speed up the TL process.  They already have the site set up.  I'd buy that excuse if they were just now starting to sell 18+ VNs, but they aren't.

I edited in an example of why I don't like Nutaku into my previous post, but besides that, and generally cutting content like lolis and tentacles, they do stuff like this:

I'd also link to the album sanah posted, but Nutaku DMCA'd it :sachi:

Sometimes you just see something like this pop up(really minor though but it is still around).

Spoiler

And more. I can't really remember specific ones more. Just sometimes. I'm sure they will fix it but for now, this stuff still persist. There are also mistranslations on abilities as well so they haven't completely fix it.

Note: the above character is already in initial gacha roster and not added later.

Yup that's why i said i guess, by definition meaning i had insufficient information and not assumed it. Then i requested the information from you :sachi:, which you gracefully delivered with much clarity and i thank you for that. Also, no i wasn't offended at all, I honestly didn't know about all that details and you corrected me, now i see that indeed it wouldn't make sense to someone that knows a bit about whats going on. Cheers! :mare:

I need something more than a typo to go on.  I'd need evidence that entire phrases are mistranslated on a regular basis to make the argument that Nutaku is utterly incompetent (or lying).  There's plenty of that in Girls Kingdom, but Flower Knight Girl is supposed to be "fine".

There are more but sadly I don't exactly keep track of them. Perhaps other users might do but I'm sure there are not many playing Nutaku games around here, much less FKG. I guess it's either not that obvious or pretty well hidden. I admit, it is better.

lmao, literally the 4kids of porn games.

Also, from the source itself. They dont get to censor it, they're teaming up with them for publishing and PR only

It's a pretty good decision by SP. The bad translation issues by Nutaku aren't a problem here, there's some select censorship by Nutaku but only in response to direct legal and financial threat. Most users probably won't even notice.

In return they get to place their product on the 'shelf' of a platform with a pretty damn large consumer base. Nutaku's eroge platform IS pretty popular.

It's really, really hard not to notice a censorship as blatant as theirs, and I sure hope you don't mean Chrono Clock here.

I should also point out that Deardrops is sold on Nutaku, and MG hasn't given up their storefront.

Goal's already been reached btw. $26,000 already pledged.

The first point is patently false.  I can't comment on the second point, but they've literally removed characters from Aigis and redrawn faces for Osawari.  People use Nutaku because the audience they draw are literally first-time eroge players whose prior experience with erotic games is likely limited to Newgrounds.  Anything is a step up from that.

This quote by SP literally made me do a double-take though.

We're really good friends with the guys at Nutaku and they do an incredible job making a secure and vibrant 18+ space for consumers. They really fell in love with ChronoClock and wanted to help give it the TLC it deserves.

Really ironic choice of words.

I just think they are using Nutaku as a distribution platform for the 18+ version, at this point Nutaku is the closest thing to a Steam-like platform for 18+ products and as such because of this it would bring in alot more sales than just releasing it on Denpasoft, it doesn't seem like releasing 18+ version of digital download titles exclusively on Denpasoft gets them too much customers so they are trying something new by testing the waters and releasing an 18+ title on Nutaku.

From Audi's comments the partnership seems a lot more substantial than that.
