Looking for a new mouse

I've been using the microsoft basic mouse for the past two years or so and it broke yesterday, so I need a new one. I thought I'd ask around and see what mice people like. My preference is for extremely light mice, all the extra features are not necessary but not unwanted. Any suggestions?

The Logitech G400 seems to be the mouse of choice for people who want something of all-around good quality but aren't willing to throw too much money around.

It suddenly broke after a year or two when I used it, but I assume the prominence of the general opinion indicates that my experience is an exception.

EDIT: From a glance at some of the prices of the G400 online, it looks like the price has increased overall despite it being so old, so perhaps the market has caught up to what was previously a steal. Alas.

I use this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4RE2576423&cm_re=a4tech_optical-_-173-000E-00009-_-Product

because it's optical (laser sucks ass)

been using it for 2 or even 3 now I think, other than the pad of the side it has like a rubber pad for some reason that gets a little dirty, my hand is pure sweat xD, it works perfect and it's pretty cheap.

here are some choices,

Ranging from cheap to mildly expensive but not overkill.
I personally use on old trust gtx 35 but it is in need of replacement.
Bought it because it is comfortable in big hands, but its definitly heavy.

Asus UX300 is incredibly cheap and solid. It's a blueray mouse with superb precision for a product of this grade and it's really good for gaming too, provided you don't have the need for many additional buttons. It's also small (but not too small), which makes it a perfect choice for people who don't have apeman-like hands :Teeku: Looks really neat, as well, especially in a dark room.

That aside, Logitech G series are always a safe bet. They often last for years, if taken care of and there's a variety of different models aimed at different users.

I guess you might give both a try, although UX300 is incredibly light and fits hand well.

I've hated every logitech mouse I've ever had. The microsoft ones were better. The steelseries mice are, however, fantastic. I have a steelseries sensei and it's the best mouse I've ever had. There are newer models around at a range of prices and features but I've had this one for a while. I also don't like wireless mice as they sometimes have a mind of their own, no matter how expensive. The most expensive mouse I ever bought was a top of the line bluetooth wireless logitech mouse and it was basically a steaming pile of shit (double negative, both logitech and bluetooth.)
