Really...?

havoc doesn't mind hardcore material, as long as it's "incidental" or simply hardcore in nature (like NTR or rape). But the themes for this VN are very explicit in being hardcore in a very gore way, going for the guro tag, meaning that a big part of the porn from this VN consists on mutilating girls among other forms of extreme, permanent torture (time reset is a bs excuse since it doesn't change what has happened in your eyes, btw).

Actually I disagree. But it's subjective of course.

If there is no permament damage I'm reacting only as 'oh, that's bad, but who cares, it will be reseted without consequences'. Because conseqences are the most terrible thing for me.
Permament damages are terrible because they're permanent. Pain is temporary, scars are eternall. Seeing somebody living without chopped arm would be horrible. Seeing it magically grown back it's boring.
Same thing when one of the main characters dies at the near end of story. Seen many times in movies and VNs. It's not working because I'll be out of this world in few hours max. Repercussions of living in this world, with these characters, but without that one deceased are the saddest thing about someones death.

Same rule to bad ends with characters death/torture/screwing up important thing. It's just 'oh, okay', because I know it's only a short bad end in the middle, I can always load a savegame and go through proper route. Don't do that VN makers. If you want to kill somebody, then kill them, without a way out of it.

BUT, to stay on topic:

Good luck with your project guys! :D

Yet, as I said, it doesn't change what you saw. If you enjoy some brutal guro and then there's a time reset, I very much doubt you enjoyed it because "I know the fictitious character isn't gonna stay like that" but rather due to the guro itself. If you consider guro something disgusting (like havoc seems to do, and same for me), saying anything about no permanent damage due to a time reset does not even count as an excuse because of how off-topic it is to the heart of the matter. It's a cheap deus ex to dodge the issue and moral hit that something like amputee porn is amputee porn no matter if the limb grows back or there's a time rollback.

Bad ends like that are made precisely to give a sense of "oh, welp, wrong way." But guro itself is that. The whole VN is that "wrong way," hence why smth like going back in time doesn't really change at all the idea behind this genre.

Not that I judge (rather, I do judge, but I don't care about other people's tastes so I wouldn't censor or forbid it), but I was just further explaining about the topic and what havoc or I mentioned.

Pretty much this.

I dont mind guro much in things like muv luv alternative, kara no shoujo and cartaga, and i can live with the stuff from euphoria. (Yes even the scat, its shitty but just that shitty)
Muv luv, kara no shoujo and cartaga all have in common that it is not guro for the sake of guro so to say, it is part off an overall bigger story  but in this case it is guro for the sake of guro and that is just not for me.
(the guro being incidentall in all three off these also helps)

You might want to spoiler tag this post a little. ;)

Also - guro is not gore. Non of the titles you mentioned is guro, even euphoria.

Well, to sum up. Different strokes for diferent folks. ;) If I would read any guro VN (which I don't, because it's almost only in nukige, which I don't read at all) I would feel pretty dissapointed after sudden time reset, or something similiar. I would enjoy the STORY* with guro scenes only if repeated guro would imply some brain damage and huge trauma on character.

*and probebly there it is. I don't enjoy guro (or even vanilla h scenes) on their own, only as a part of a story.

Guro belongs to the same exact group as low quality nukige. Get over it. People read it to satisfy their hunger for twisted things, not because they want a deep and engaging story. Nikuniku is exactly that - it exists solely for that purpose. It could have been better, if they'd actually use a different approach (Making them actually remember, what happened before, in one way or another - be it nightmares, reccuring daydreams or deja vu's), but it's their choice and I'm completely fine with that.

If you want something good, go read Sayooshi :holo:

I think you are missing the point. The biggest and core problem to guro is not about being twisted, but rather that it surpasses that level and goes far deeper. Which is why I'd personally not bat an eyelash at the most hardcore NTR mind-break rape story ever, but I'm deeply repulsed by the idea of getting erotic excitement out of the act itself of extreme violence, disfiguration, mutilation, etc.

The gore is not a matter of style or a consequence of the sub-genre, but rather the main and focal point of arousal. Hence why guro is unlike any other genre or sub-genre of porn. So, no, it's not even remotely close to being in the same group as cheap nukige, that's one really weird wrong comparison.

Made an account here just to say that I'm looking forward to this project! I've accidentally found out about NikuNiku due to Denkare being the one responsible for the opening theme song. From there, I just became more curious to play it myself until I just went and got it. Good luck with the project!

Bit of an update.
We are working on fixing the word wrapping as well as trying to get a conctrete line count. This will most likely take some time, so until we have it, progress will be counted in X scripts out of/69. (Yes, I also laughed at the amount of scripts this game has. Don't try to deny it, you did too.)

We currently haven't finished a new script yet, (currently in the middle of translating one,) so the progress is still 1/69 for the moment.

But, I'm bringing some screenshots of the TL to show off.

The word wrapping isn't quite fixed yet like I said, so that's why the "long" is like that in the pic below. (It will be fixed.)

I'll make another update once some more progress has been made, whether it's TL or on the hacking front.

Greetings.

I have two questions about this game, a long one and a short one.

I can't read any Japanese, but it seems like I can't buy the game from dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/clear_0016/ because I live in the US? Am I missing something, or there another place I can get it?

Secondly I don't really have a good idea of how Visual Novels are translated, I was wondering if I could help in any way. I'm a native English speaker, kind of a grammar/spelling Nazi, with a fair chunk of free time. Minimal computer skills, but I'm great at doing repetitive things long after everyone else has fled or gone nuts.

Thanks.

Hey!

I'm afraid that the only distributer I am aware of that offers the digital version of this VN is DMM. They are known for blocking foreign IP adresses, so there is a chance you can't buy it from them without using a VPN with a Japanese IP adress. Sadly, we cannot supply you with anything but the patch, so you will have to get the game yourself. I made a guide on how to buy games on Gyutto, a different Japanese download site. Hopefully that should at least offer some help on what certain fields on these websites means, should you attempt to buy the game on DMM:

Link (Also keep in mind that as a last resort, throwing some text from a website into google translate can offer some basic help, should you be stuck.)

As for the second question, we already have a skilled team ready for this project, so we don't really need any more people at this time, other than translators. But, should we ever lose our editor/ QC (quality checker)/ be in the need of extra help, I'll let people know and you can apply again then, if you would still be interested.

Since I'm here, I might as well make a small update about the progress. Since I have been busy with exams, and since I'm in the process of finishing up my other TL project, I have not had much time to TL Nikuniku the past few months. The project is still alive and kicking, but we simply have not made huge amounts of progress yet. I will go back to TLing again soon, once my exams are over and I have some more time for this.

Hi,

I managed to buy this from DMM. How's the project going? Anything to look at? Team still ok? (I could potentially contribute on the hacking side of things but it sounds like you're all sorted?)

Best of luck and so on, looking forward to it.

The project is going well. Still alive. The team has changed a bit, (I'm no longer a translator on the project,) and the people involved are quite busy IRL. But things are still progressing, though the actual progress on this thread is quite outdated now. Maybe a new update will come sometime in the future. As I'm not really involved with the translation anymore, it's not my place to make actual progress updates so I'll leave it there.

Hello! Just curious to see what's the current progress of the translations and if the translations are still on-going '.' I see that erogegames is also translating this VN, but their current status is still at ''translation started'' >.> I'm not even sure if they are even planning to translate the VN, so I'm hoping you guys are still alive and that the project is going well!

As far as I'm aware, the progress hasn't changed much in a while. I personally stepped down as a translator on this project some time ago, and left the project in someone else's hands, but he has not responded to my messages in a while. He is a busy guy IRL, so that could be the reason. Last I heard from him was in April, and he did say he intends on TLing more on this project.

I intend on finishing this project at some point, should the current TLer never return, so it will be finished eventually, but I can't say when that will be. In the case he never comes back, I wouldn't be able to do any work on this until next year. So, let's hope he does.

made an account - friend sent me to this forum which I did not know about before when I mentioned this game - to say I hope this is continuing and any way that I can help please let me know.  As an owner of mangagamer's euphoria any of the shocking visual novels I want to support!  I do not know Japanese or programming but I do write for a living (as a lawyer) so I can help edit work.  Thanks!

This project is currently on hiatus. We had two translators, myself and someone else. After I stepped down for a bit to work on other things, the other guy said he would continue the project, but he simply vanished off the face of the earth shortly after, so... that leaves me as the only guy on this project, and, well, I'm not working on it at the moment. Which means it's on hiatus.

I will make an update on this thread, should I ever decide to continue the translation. (I do want to, of course, but I have no idea when it would be possible for me to get back to translating this. It probably won't happen for quite some time, sadly.)

Thanks for bumping this though. Reminded me I needed to move this thread into the TL project archive sub forum.
