VNDB's nukige tag is really iffy to be honest. I think all of the nukige I played never have it.

Example: In this game there's a sex scene not even 30 mins into the game, and the rest of the game after that is sex scene after sex scene without ever taking a break. All the endings are sex based, with the true ending being you impregnating your sister and the ending card being her covered in semen with a pregnant belly. Still no nukige tag, and this one has been translated.

That's marked as nukige, very clearly.

Please do not complain about the VNDB tag system if you refuse to contribute. The tag system is an open voting system, if you don't vote for tags then complain about their absence, you're just being a huge hypocrite.

Honestly I think Fan-TLs should get a bonus for marketing those games 2. A fan-tl gets announced, people get excited and check for updates weekly or monthly. Research the game that's being translated and salivate when its close to 'release' . Then Sekai licenses those projects and capitalizes on it.

I wouldn't have known about a lot of games if it weren't for fan-tls. They just do so much to push their games forward and garner interest. Well Decay did mention that Sekai pays the best so that's great for them. Its good that they get something out of all the hours they put in.

Exactly my point, the nukige tag is basically irrelevant in most cases. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's under the sexual erm, dunno what its called. Usually people just hit all to see what kinda content VN's have, but you have to hit sexual to see all the stuff like cowgirl, missionary, blowjob, and in this case, nukige. I didn't even know it had a nukige tag either till I investigated some more.

Apparently the Steam release of Koikuma is something that Smile is handling, so no one at SP seems to know what's going on with that.

And no one at SP is stopping them because? ... :rimu:

(Well, beacause it's kinda funny I guess :wahaha:  )

Why would they? There's a lot of money to be had in this. I imagine they're going to try to push the boundaries as far as possible, following Gahkthun's and Purino Party's example.

Those aren't really nukige though :sacchan:

Doubt they can do much pushing with a nukige.

What I don't understand is why there are two companies involved in the localizing of one game?

If you're referring to Smile, those are the developers. Therefore, the developers have both insisted on a Steam release and are handling it themselves.

And if I may turn into Rooke for a moment: if they're willing to do that much I don't see why they don't just localise it themselves, but that's beside the point.

There's always at least two, the Japanese license holder and the localization company doing the translation. Smile are the Japanese devs behind the game. A lot of people seem to forget that these companies are often very involved in the localization process.

Ah, pardon my ignorance.

Because they're game creators, not overseas publishers.  Creating game content and translation + distribution + marketing in a foreign language require very different skill sets.  Just look at Debonosu's "efforts" to release games in English.

But like, how are they even going to adapt the story to make it all-ages? This is a serious question.

In most eroge, removing h-scenes doesn't really impact the story, but here the story is the porn...

Maybe they are working with Moenovel together on it!?

Well, I imagine they are going to keep in as much of the porn as humanly possible. You can get away with a lot on Steam these days.
