Well I didn't read this game yet and also understanding the text is very different from being able to put it into English :(

I'm sure if you understood what went on in irosekai then you can 辿り着く your way it into English ^_^. You dont need to read the game (this one specificly) to know that you'll finish it cause we all know you love the game ^_^

fixed that for you

So basically you went to this thread just to make fun of the guy helping with our patch? Yet you seem to have "stopped at Yume route", so you've actually read this VN, have some heavy criticism for it, yet ironically are waiting for the translation? Do you get off to this? People like you are mindboggling. I bet you think your porn games are much more refined and super mature compared to his, too.

Uh, he's the one translating it. Don't see why he'd need to wait xD

Ain't that the truth. This concept actually kind of shocked me when I first realized it was true. Early on I thought converting Japanese to English would just be business as usual since I would know both, until I actually started trying to do it. It still feels weird to me, because I understand what's being said while often not knowing how to effectively put it into an English context...

These days I have even more respect for translators than I used to.

Also, I shall have to visit that teamspeak sometime. It's always nice to be able to talk to others who appreciate favo stuff. Keep trying to get my best friend into visual novels but he resists despite showing an interest, so I don't have many people to talk about them with. Haha.

Good luck to you guys translating this!

Hoshizora no Memoria made me meet a lot of new people who like visual novels. It's a memorable visual novel and also the first time I got rejected twice by the same girl.

Asuho is still the best girl, though.

To clarify, Boomer is busy with some school project or something (I believe he travels somewhere too).

There is about 1000 lines left to edit and boomer will finish it once he is done with his summer activities.

Nobody is currently working on Yume route, however I believe that once the Mare patch is out, people will be more willing to join the project, seeing that it has released something.

I'm excited for this to get finished, I've been checking on this thread for a while, waaay when it got started, though at the time I didn't have an account and I was on my ipod, but still great work. I'd love to play the route of the one who pushed me down the path of a lolicon

I have on the same boat as you. Lols. Having a friend which is also interested but due to RL issues he don't really have time into VNs.

Couldn't agree more that understanding and translating are two entirely different things. You don't need to be very fluent in a certain language to understand something, but it takes an expert and complete mastery of a language before you can actually provide the most accurate and high quality translations. However, even that did have limitations. There are something that just isn't possible to translate completely without changing its overall meaning (for understanding purposes) as well as for it to make complete sense, which is common for VNs that use Japanese wordplay (such as Shumon Yuu's works).

Some of Iroseka's and Irohika's terminology also make it weird if translated into English (ie. Mio's route and especially Shinku's route in Irohika), a different word has to be used that cannot be taken directly from the Japanese text or it wouldn't make sense or cause confusion.

I may be back from the dead. I'm not sure yet. Someone tell me.

Its more like we like the other characters, but we LOVE Mare. Favorite is like that, they can make characters you wouldn't normally like in other games very lovable, I explained it a bit in my hoshimemo topic.

Same goes for Iroseka, the girl with the biggest boobs (Kana) ended up for me being the most likable girl out of the normal route girls - where as in other games I wouldn't even touch a route of girl that looks like that.

But whenever I talk to big favorite fans (especially JP ones in pso2 or something) or view art or read stuff from the JP artists, its all about the lolis, Mare and Shinku and now Yuuki.

When the information about the new game came out saying that the loli there is not actually the same size as Mare and Shinku 141cm but actually 137cm, everyone was talking about that girl and most of the art is for her as people believe that it will be the main focus of the game.

And that is the point, sure the other characters in favo games are awesome, compared to some other eroge they are on the level of the best heroine in those games, but favorite manages to make something special, something above that level and those are the main loli girls.

And when you get deep into the favorite design, you can see that. Sure there was Yume in Hoshimemo and some people like her as a character and her personality, but you can just look at how long screen time she had in the game, you didn't even see her for 90% of the game. Where as Mare was there all the time, solving the routes of everyone. Almost like the guiding character for the reader and the protagonist at the same time, helping you to get through the game, while ultimately waiting for you to finally realize that she is the one seeking love.

And when you realize that, you just have to see how you two match together, she was there clueless, trying to make you happy by helping you with your love, you trying to discover love with other characters, when you both had it all from the very beginning, you had your happiness together right in front of your eyes, you just didn't see it.

And these are the deep moments Favorite helps you discover, these are the moments that make your heart race.

And sure, if you are reading for the story then the stories of the other characters are very awesome, Komomo's story is so good, Kana's route in Iroseka and Irohika is one of the best and most emotional stories I've ever read. But the true romance and the true love and all the dokidoki moments with butterflies in your stomach are with the main loli characters.

It is hard to explain to people who didn't fully commit to 2d dating how good Favorite is at this, since they probably don't even see these things there. These moments are as strong if not stronger than the moments you rode a bike 10km up a hill to meet that one girl and get your first kiss, the moments at summer camp you were sneaking outside of the compound into the forest to talk there while holding hands.

And even though some might think I'm crazy and delusional and whatnot, I don't think I will ever be able to get back to the 3d dating, where it is now all about responsibilities and such.

I will much rather chase these childish dreams, relive the times long past and the times I never got to live, because you just grow up so fast. Favorite help you form these dreams and in the end make them come true, because as we know, dreams are the seedlings of realities~

So yeah, so far they managed to do it twice (Mare and Shinku) and we will soon see if they can make it happen for the 3rd time.

And who knows, maybe there are people who get these fluttery tingly feelings with the other characters too, but from the people I talked to they either get them with Mare and Shinku or they don't get them at all (because they don't care about them and are not looking for them).

also... how did this post turn out so long, I just wanted to quickly explain :(

Awesome speech... or passage... or text... whatever it maybe called, it's awesome, Steve. It made me decide to drop the VN I'm currently reading for my future translation project, sign up for a fuwanovel forum account, and now I'm pumped to help with translating Eternal Heart (do you guys still need an extra hand?). Also, is there anyone who plans to pick up (or restart) the translation for Irotoridori no sekai? I also want to help with that after Eternal Heart's done.

...By the way, can I post that... umm... speech of yours at other places? I'll list the source and your name in the credits, of course.

Sure, you can repost.

As for the project, we do indeed need additional translation help. It would be great if you could hop on Teamspeak where we use text chat to coordinate the project (and talk about lolis): https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/598-teamspeak-come-chat-with-us-about-lolis-and-visual-novels/

And lastly about Iroseka, that game indeed is a masterpiece (as talked about in my comparison topic) that I would like more people to read (and that's why I am encouraging people to try reading in Japanese), however to fully give justice to that game you would need a really good translator since it is not an easy game, and mainly you would need to also translate Irohika (fandisc) as if you ask anyone who read both of the games, they will tell you that one game is not complete without the other one. And combined the 2 games have over 100,000 lines to translate, which is so huge compared to for example the EH project of 17,000 lines. That said it would require several translators and editors (at minimum 3 serious proficient full time translators but probably more).

We can talk about all that on the TS if you happen to stop by as well as about the EH related stuff and what to translate.
