Listening to Alice 'N Thunderland right now. Trying to track down the CD for a good price but I'm not having much luck.

I've been listening to this band quite a bit at the moment. Some of the best modern metalcore I've heard in recent memory.

If you don't know about them already, they're an encyclopedia of metal bands. I really love the site and contribute to it all the time. The only thing is they can be a bit snobby about what is and isn't metal, especially when it comes to Metalcore. E.g the Phinehas band you posted above is blacklisted.

I don't go there because it's a "true metal worship" site in my eyes. Not my style considering how I respect every metal genre.

Oh my, Metal is an old genre that I really loved so much in the good old angsty teenage years, I dont listen to it often anymore but I find stuff thats pretty good every now and then.

I like hipster black metal and tech death the most though like An automn for crippled children, origin, cattle decapitation, Altar of plagues.

Oh I also have a guilty pleasure for post-hardcore but thats too much over in the punk/indie category to mention here tbh

one of my all time favorites:

EDIT

Thanks for making this thread, you reminded me of a uttermost splendid band from China!

Well, I would't really call myself a metal fan maybe. More towards the rock, punk or metalcore. I don't listen to it that much but at least once or twice a year I got a period when I listen to it. But nonetheless. Here is my list of favorites:

  • The Offspring
  • In Flames
  • Sonic Syndicate
  • Hammerfall
  • Sabaton
  • Ensiferum
  • Freedom Call

Interesting. Swedish bands are good at making music. :)

- Galneryus

- Nightwish (yes, really)

- Theocracy

- Black Sabbath

- Mare Cognitum (Basically the only Black Metal band I like)

- Blind Guardian

- Alterbeast

- Idk what to put here. Blood Stain Child for now

Alterbeast is awesome. Can't wait for them to release another album.

This is my favorite (metal?) song atm though, holy shit

Most "true metal fans" would call it absolute shit though, but luckily I have a guilty pleasure for synths and autotune lol

My kind of Japanese metal is Desecravity. They're pretty awesome and they're tech death so that is a bonus.

(I'd post stuff from them here, but I'm in the middle of school right now).

@Down made a thread like this a year or two ago. But w/e :P No point necroing an old thread

Either way I've been listening to this song a lot. The riffs should be illegal.

Spoiler

Whitechapel is alright to listen to sometimes

Spoiler

I more or less got into metal by listening to slipknot, limp bizkit, SOAD and korn back in school.

Anyone who adds A7x to their metal list is getting a slap. They're not metal!

Top 10 metal bands? Crumbs, let's see... On a mixture of consistent quality output and, more importantly, jams, we have:

1. Fall of Efrafa

2. Ulcerate

3. Thou

3. A Forest of Stars (even though their newest was a bit... eh...)

4. Cult of Luna

5. Rosetta

6. The Ruins of Beverast

7. Darkthrone

8. Rorcal

9. Meshuggah

10. Cryptopsy (cos None So Vile just rips)

We've talked music before but so much yes.

@Kawasumi, Dopamine are indeed awesome too. You familiar with Zuriaake at all?
