Reaction to Gintama's latest episode: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

Gintama is the best anime ever made in the history of Japan. That's usually my fan faggot mind but after this episode... just... damn..... The fights, the choreography, the flashback scene placement with the current events, the symbolism, the dialogues, the characters, the pacing, the twists.....  A perfect 100/10.

...it's been a while since I got hit hard with a feels scene. Thank you Sorachi, you brilliant bastard.

KyoAni y u do dis.
Guess this show goes in the traaaaaaaaaash.

Gintama this week was so good, one of the few times where I wasn't irritated by the constant flashbacks (maybe this is the result of 250+ episodes without revealing what actually happened in the past), I had no idea Gintoki and Takasugi's conflict dates back to something like that. Although I still don't personally agree with what Takasugi's methods, I now am much more torn in the whole grand scheme of things.

Am I the only one here who enjoys watching never changing ecchi harem shows like Bahamut? Give me anything with cute girls and I'll be there.

I used to, until about 7 years ago, when my hormones calmed down and I realized cute girls don't trump actual quality.

: ( Been watching cute girls for over 5 years now. Cute girls = Quality for me. I just love looking at them :sachi:

Each to their own.

I like watching cute girls and still defend moe = justice, but unless fanservice is decently executed, it usually ends up being a detriment to the show more than it is an asset and feels really cringey half of the time. Good fanservice needs to be fun to witness, not just be porn for the sake of porn. (See Shinmai Maou no Testament for how NOT to do fanservice)

Yeah Shinmai Maou was stupid but still liked it because #cutegirls.

Just find it funny that people say (don't necessarily mean here) that Phantom World is ruined because of boobs and other stuff when I just find it a nice add to the show.

Of course some people don't want to see fanservice and say it ruins the story but is anime really the right medium for you then?

Eh, never said ruined myself. Just like with the first episode, I found it somewhat questionable since it simply makes no sense (the limbo game was just "fuck physics", and the way she needs to touch herself to use her powers is kinda silly), but acceptable as long as it doesn't go even deeper.

The problem with Phantom World's fanservice for me is that the story seems to be designed so as to force the fanservice down your throat, like Mai touching her body to activate her powers and all the camera angles during those scenes, as well as the past 2 phantoms forcing the heroines into ecchi situations because of course otherwise the conflict couldn't be solved. When you use fanservice as a plot device like this, it feels cheap, and for me even cringey at times, like when they were doing random stretching in bloomers in the middle of a classroom for no reason other than Mai's ass, I had to facepalm at that scene.

Fanservice can't be shown out of nowhere and with such poor context as Phantom World does it, it makes for cringe more than it makes for an exciting situation, and I wish the series would stop attempting to shove it down the viewer's throat so much.

If you want a series to be taken seriously, don't have such forceful fanservice, and if you want a fanservice series, then don't half ass the fanservice either, Phantom World is currently failing at both.

But, honestly, the fanservice is only one of the problems with the show, I legitimately find the story and characters boring so far.

+1

The only fan service that didn't make me facepalm was when the MC is about to catch Reina (I think it was her name?) falling, realizes what a cliché situation that is, and actually forces his body mid-air to turn around and fall into the ground, which ends up having the girl falling onto his head anyway. Classic dumb ecchi scene, but done in a kinda fun way.

I think it's more of how they emphasize the fan service. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think the idea of Mai touching certain parts of her body to draw out power, as it's a pretty standard idea as a spin from typical chakra.  I think it has more to do with how much the emphasize it.  Either way, it's a fantasy/supernatural series with an okay premise, and some action so I'll still end up watching it.  I can't argue with the bloomers thing, though I did laugh because of how silly it is.  At least they still didn't interrupt the narrative from moving, so it's not completely turrible.

Nope, I'll watch them as long as they contain action and aren't terribly animated *cough*Asterisk*cough* or have a laughably bad story *cough*Shinmai Testament *cough*

Kinda late to the party but just watched Koukaku no Pandora.

This show is basically my type of show. Pretty stupid but with cute girls and yuri, this time quite a bit of yuri too.

I am not expecting it to be a masterpiece, but it sure was entertaining and the fanservice was 10 times more tasteful than Phantom World, especially because the show is clearly self aware and rolls with it.

Extra points to Uzal for letting Nene do all those things to Clarion, you're da real MVP.

I'll be a little disappointed if there's no yuri action between the 2 main girls, but even then I think they make for a fun dynamic duo. Wonder what kind of plot this will be though.

Musaigen no Phantom World 2 - Continuing this just for this.

Spoiler

jFoKUPo.gif

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 1 maybe I am easy to please but I liked first episode.

HaruChika 2 Dude seems too smart. Too op. Still one of fav shows.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi 2 - Goddamn, too good. Keep it up.

Yay, they actually somewhat toned down the ecchi level in Phantom World. Story is still a bit meh though... well I guess the art is still on a high standard.

Oh wow HaruChika seems to actually have a good story. Still on the cautious side after the twist in ep 1 though...

Watched Ep1 of KonoSuba, i really liked the first episode, humor and characters clicked with me, looking forward to more of the anime. At first, I thought, man, I really like this, I wonder if anything else will be good this season... then I watched

Boku dake ga Inai Machi ep1 and 2, and I was completely blown away. Those two episodes were fantastic, extraordinary, simply an experience. I hope it stays consistent, because that was just incredible.

Oh, and Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm's characters totally threw me off, didn't expect their personalities at all.

Yeah, Active Raid is definitely just wanting to be a fun anime, even with all the dark "foreshadowing" thrown around I just can't see it as a serious show. Other than that, well I don't have complains for the art and sound. The Engrish actually didn't sound too Engrish either.

AssClass being AssClass as usual. Definitely saw the hint there, hehe can't wait for the twist~

Shoujo Tachi looks.... meh but I'm interested to see where it goes. Though that moment when a guy completely gives up 3D world is gold.

A-1 Pictures struck gold. Here's hoping to Boku Dake ga Inai Machi being consistently fantastic. Argh, can't wait for next week's episode...

Dang, Dagashi Kashi actually did disappoint me this episode. It was just so... bland? I lightly chuckled a bit towards the ending, but that's pretty much it. I'm hoping it was just a slight bump on the road.

On the other hand, Divine Gate proves that the first episode wasn't just a proof of concept, and keeps being really interesting. What an odd turn of events, it might become one of the series I look forward most to, every week.

I love Dagashi Kashi's manga because the chapters are short enough for the gags to be quick and impactful. I think the anime's problem is that it has to drag things out a bit too much. Also, compared to the manga, I don't feel Hotaru's obnoxiousness as much in the anime. In the manga Hotaru just comes off as batshit crazy with tons of weird facial expressions to witness, but the anime so far doesn't seem to be pushing her as too crazy.

Although I do think the comedy in Dagashi Kashi ultimately requires you to have some interest in the subject of candy so you can get behind Hotaru's rants.

Well, I do enjoy the anime nonetheless, but I can see why some people would find problems with it. I avidly recommend the manga though since it's much easier to read through.

Also Saya best grill.

Yay for Saya. And I can easily believe that. I found a couple gags from the manga randomly on the Internet yesterday, and it seemed to be short sketch-based, which makes so much sense.

Koukaku no Pandora ep 2

>Dat forehead kiss
>11/10 AOTY

Please don't make that small yellow three legged lion a regular character, I don't want that thing in my yuri.

Hope Uzal isn't really dead. Seems like the JSF CDF is going to be the main villain, is this going to turn into some "the government is doing evil experiments" type of deal?

I'm probably enjoying this more than a normal person should, but I don't care. Happy to see Nene now owns Clarion. May they make many babies together.

Dagashi Kashi 2 - Alright.... It makes for mildly amusing time.

Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu 2 - Liking it. It is okay.

Bubuki Buranki - Drop

Luck & Logic - Drop

Koukaku no Pandora - While I like yuri and all, I don't really find it all that interesting to watch. Robit and stuff blew up in this episode.

blur ray extra lol

I'm going to drop luck and logic. The story seems to be absolutely within the bounds of something I would watch to relax, but the 3D is the turn off.  Having it switch is just painful, and it became abundantly obvious in the second episode how low quality it is.  It falls into the same trap as Buranki: mismatched framerate.  I should never see stuttering on 3D, it's painful.

As for the story, it seems to be another generic action shonen, and I'm 111% fine with that. This is another case of done fucking up with art by cutting corners.  I came here to watch anime, not RWBY, so fucking animate, not model.

I lost it when Dagashi Kashi made that Gundam Unicorn references using snacks. 10/10 Comedy for the no-lifers and candy lovers. Hoping I'm not gonna miss any joke next week...

Oh Monogatari... you never change...

Spoiler

TIBRJKp.png

And that Senjougahara "ah". 100/10 masterpiece.

GATE gave me a ridiculous feeling of superiority and proud with that latest's episode. It is one hell of a good anime.
