Best Game of 2015

This is not a thread about otakuism, porn in neptunia or 2D and 3D. As such, an astounding 30 posts about those 3 subjects have been deleted (sheesh, and I'm supposed to be in a(n? [English is hard] LOA. what do we even have other mods for). Keep it going and it won't end as just a few posts disappearing~

Use an LOA. The a/an distinction is made by the sound after the indefinite article. In this case, how do you spell the letter L?

Awww, I was gonna nix them but I was doing a load of laundry first  :vinty:

Odds are, The Witcher 3 will probably be thought of as the GotY.  Can't say anything about it, since I'm waiting to upgrade my rig before I play it, and also want to get the other two games done with first.  A lot of the other AAA titles seemed to have been overhyped and underperformed, aside from what I've heard about Bloodborne.  I honestly haven't played or bought very many new games this year.

Did anyone play the Mad Max game?

Nope, but I heard that while it's a pretty good open world game with a Mad Max skin, it's not really great, and doesn't really do anything new or interesting besides the car combat.  TotalBiscuit made a pretty good (if a little bit too damn long) video about it and the reception to it.

In all honesty, you should leave it be. There was actually a lot of game talking in-between and you just deleted a large part of that discussion. Besides, why? Ren vs Okami is pure gold and you just got rid of it? :amane: There's a magical mod thing called thread separation. You don't delete hilarious things; you expose them to the wider audience, not to mention this whole talk had both scientific and educational merits :makina:

Custom Maid 3D 2 :makina:

How could I forget about it?!

Keep a Ren vs Okami ‘discussion’ on the forum? That’s an interesting idea… there’s an old Penny Arcade comic that’s pretty applicable in this instance.

The Witcher 3 will most definitely win most GOTY awards. The sheer scope of the world, the detail of the world, the marriage of an open world RPG with a compelling storyline (that’s really well written,) gorgeous visuals and audio, a semi-decent c&c system, the combat is fairly engaging (or at least improved over Witcher 2) – it’s just colossal in every department. But the negatives are also there, a diluted RPG design, stock-standard quests, combat is slightly less of a rolling-simulator but there’s still plenty of it. Overall, its strengths are the game world, its story, and the visuals/audio, with RPG mechanics, and gameplay down on my list of negatives. That won’t matter to a lot of people however, and this will easily top everybody’s charts. It’s a behemoth.

But Pillars of Eternity has my vote. I think it offers a step forward in the realm of RPG design, while offering strong strategic gameplay married with a deep and complex world. It’s isometric and old-school though, so expect to see it up there on a lot of old-school or hardcore publications.

Good time to be an RPG fan after a decade (2002 – 2012) of almost nothing.

At the start I was so much on the fallout 4 hype train that I had no doubts it would be game of the century. Oh boy.

I'm going for The Witcher 3 now, bloody amazing.

Also, the quest "No place like home" is one of the most amazing quests in the witcher 3 it is probably the best "not killing stuff" quest ever.

I definitely have to agree with everyone saying Witcher 3...hell even the DLC for that game is brilliant. CDPR easily will win studio of the year and music if nothing else.

Admittedly this was a good year for gaming in my opinion we had strong contenders for best game in Fallout 4 which despite it's many flaws is still a very fun game, Metal Gear Solid V, Tales of the Borderlands, Pillars of Eternity, Undertale (which while it has its charm has become overrated thanks to the publicity and the fact these type of things in games is not in fact new people just think they are), and Legend of Heroes TitS: SC. We also had enhanced editions of divinity original sin and wasteland 2 which were pretty great but can't be considered game of the year material. Not to mention tons of other games that were just well done. Sadly we also had a number of horrible PC releases and Console versions for a multitude of games. We also still have a few games still to release although all the big contenders are definitely out. The fact most of the games that were hugely popular and well received were rpgs or rpg-ish that just goes to show this was a pretty decent year overall for gaming. I'm sad XCOM2 couldn't be included in this list but eh hopefully first contender for next year.
