Why is Baldr Sky Dive not translated?

It's not called Baldr Sky Dive it's called Baldr Sky. Just like Umineko no Naku koro ni isn't called Umineko no Naku koro ni Episode.

And it's a huge title and most fan translators have gone pro, SubaHibi might very well be the last "high-profile" fan-tl.

If we're lucky it might be translated officially someday, though I don't know if it's possible without a kickstarter and an all-age version.

No matter what there will be an all-ages if it does get officially release, because it means more money and It is possible without a kick-starter. A lot of devs just refuse to cooperate with the western localization companies and no amount of money will be able to convince them otherwise. It's just how things are, not much we can do but sit and wait until they are willing to give it a try, because forcing the matter is only just gonna piss them of even more.

The easiest answer as to why Baldr Sky Dive isn't translated is, its too massive a project for a fan translator to tackle. just the interface alone has literally thousands of things that need to be hacked and translated let alone the combined 4 Megabyte script for both Dive 1+2

This game has a extremely high rating and a lot of votes (for an untranslated game) so I don't think rating is the issue. While this game (the entire duology) is long, there have been plenty of games that are about as long or longer that have been translated so that argument alone doesn't explain it unless you provide some context. For example, 1) this game is not just a text game, which could complicate things. 2) There's just not any groups around willing to do big projects anymore. 3) This game just doesn't interest the translator group enough to warrant its size.

"Aiyoku no Eustia" seems to be another game rates just as high for an untranslated game and is much shorter but that hasn't been translated either, so length alone can't be the only explanation. The first Majikoi game is about as long as both Bladr Sky games and is pretty recent yet you have multiple games in that series translated. I know "harem waifu" games like Majikoi is more likely to drive the fans wild so that's probably why but still.

we never had any luck with the Baldr company. They never replied to us when we contacted them in the past, which is a shame. Basically, whenever we reach out to a new company we know there's only a 10-20% chance of them showing interest, most of the time they don't want the drama or risk, or think silly things like "release a game in English? But I don't personally speak English" (as if that mattered). The fact that a lot of eroge companies are run by older men who are thinking of retiring and not interested in taking any risks is always a problem in this industry.
