Reminiscence Translation Project (Probably dead)

Why aren't people this excited when I translate moege GODDD

If it makes you feel better I'm looking for to Clover Day's just as much as this. What keeps me from looking forward to Clover Day's more is the lack of a true loli heroine. Anri is a B-cup which keeps her from being a true loli in my book.

Reminiscence has battle of the wits to help make up for its lack of a true loli... In short, next time you start a moege make sure it has a true loli ;)

Well astro hasn't been on fuwanovel since December. Also no recent progress on Clover Days by astro either. The chances of these projects being dropped feels very likely which is unfortunate.

There was a recent update about Clover Day's, actually. Maybe he just quit Fuwanovel. Just because he stops posting on one site doesn't mean he's dead nor does it mean he's dropped the projects...

That update was all ittaku. In fact all recent progress on Clover Day's was done by him. He won't be translating the other routes though as there are other translators supposedly working on them, but looking at the progress(or lack of) for the other routes I'd have to say they were all KIA. Unless Ittaku decides to take it upon himself to translate the rest of the routes, Clover Day's will likely never be finished. Who knows though maybe astro will manage to get some motivation.

Correct me if I'm wrong but did he not post something on April 28 of this year? That was not even 2 months ago, so it's way too early to assume that he's dead.

True, but the post was about an updated version of the game being made with e-motes and made no mention of translation progress..

Astro is alive, he's just busy doing official work with Sekai Project. He's translating Hoshimemo for them.

Because we all want to play that VN again :vinty:

Well in my case I only played the loli routes had no interest in playing the other routes and never will.

Well, just fucking deal with it. Sorry Astro isn't quitting his job so he can give you your favorite porn games for free.

lol you make it sound like I'm angry about it or something. I have no problem with astro re-translating Hoshimemo. I do however have a problem with sukai project localizing something that has already been translated.

Do you honestly think I would have translated two whole routes without checking that Astro was still planning on continuing the project? I've been in contact with him the whole time. He's too busy to do anything at the moment, as I said in my posts, but once his work project is over he will be resuming work on these free projects.

That's a pretty lousy attitude to think that fan translations are good enough to finalise a VN. While you may not be aware, the whole point of fan translations is to encourage the official market to expand and perform more official localisations with professional translations, official releases, packaged versions and so on, which end up giving money back to the original game makers. If the world was ideal, VNs would be as popular in the west with instantaneous releases in multiple languages. If you look at the anime market, the fansub crowd "won" this battle with official translations coming out often simultaneously in English. Some of the fansubbers and a lot of the fansub audience totally missed this point thinking the fansubs themselves were the endpoint themselves. This is the same mistake you are doing here with that attitude. While some people do buy the original Japanese box/DL version and patch it with the free fan translations, the bulk of people illegally download it. The VN creators get nothing from that. An official localisation after a fan translation is guaranteed to reward the original creators whereas the fan translation will likely get them only a pitiful number of extra sales from a small hardcore following like those of us here in fuwa.

Your post doesn't mention you being able to get into contact with him or not. It says "snowed under" which is open to quiet a few different interpretations. I took it as unavailable or MIA.

If someone is gonna pirate a VN official version or fan patch won't really make a difference. Both versions can be pirated just as easily. The VN market doesn't expand if you are releasing something that has already been released it stays the same. If there wasn't thousands of untranslated VNs still out there this would be a different story. I didn't go out and buy the official version of Grisaia. Why? Simple I had already played it. Don't get me wrong I'll buy the 2nd one so long as the 18+ version is released the same day as the all ages. Why the condition? Simple, because there are certain business models I am unwilling to support. Fansubs are what made anime as big as it is now. If anime was still limited to blurays and dvd releases only many people would have never gotten into it. By having so many(quantity) different series available to see in English(for free) people were able to find a series that really hooked them and drew them into trying out more. This eventually leads to people purchasing anime products. When these re-releases keep happening and the number of different series available doesn't expand you are slowing the growth of the VN market. Once again I feel like you guys think I'm angry or I am emotional about this. I'm not I'm calm and am in a decent enough of a mood. These are just my personal opinions. Opinions I'm sure most won't agree with and I am fine with that. I'm pretty hardcore and stubborn about my opinions. I won't buy jrpgs that don't include the original Japanese voices. I simply wait for an undub.

Why are you assuming they specifically have their eyes on titles that are already fan-translation? Does it make literally any sense from a business perspective to have a preference towards games a shit ton of people have already played?

I finally get my internet back and already have reports to deal with.

Like astro said, please stop spamming/derailing this thread with off-topic discussion.

I've hidden most of the posts and would appreciate if you only reply with something relevant to this translation project.

@astro May I ask, did you drop the project or is there still some hope for it?

Considering that he rarely came here and the last time he came here he was more angry in regard of the drama rather than speaking about the project, there's might be a chance that it was dropped. Of course it's also possible that there's still some hope for this, but until we got confirmation in regard of that I'll simply going with that the project was dropped - or if we want to say it nicely Astro might be forgot about this project because he was busy at Sekai.

anyone know if this ever got finished or if someone else translated/is translating it?

As far as you can see from the post above, obviously the former is not happening here especially with the OP delete his Twitter and Nekonyan already got the license for Clover Days (Formerly the OP main translation project). While for the latter, the answer is I don't know if someone else worked on this as of now.
