Well...

Sheonori

Recommended Posts

I just discovered this, I wanted to look around a little and I said myself "Hey man, just create an account.". So here I am.

So, I'm a French 19 years old guy. That's why my English isn't perfect, don't hit me T_T

When I'm not working, studying or whatever this thing called "real life" urges me to do, I'm playing games of all kinds (including VNs obviously), listening to metal, classical or vocaloid and watching animes. I have a girlfriend tho, but she's just like me.

I'm quite new to the VN world, I've only played three entirely (and this include the first volume of one of them), so I have no knowledge whatsoever in this matter, but I hope you guys will help me out :3

Well, I think that's all. If you have any questions, I'll answer them without a problem.

Pleased to join you by the way :D

Welcome and have a good time.

Here are some recommendations from me

Fate/stay night is a must play. It is nothing like the anime thing that carries its name. (well we do now in the unlimited blade works adaption)

And we just have a new patch that has translated the realta nua version of the game. (wich is an all ages game so it does away with the H stuff and replaces it by something else)

http://vndb.org/v11

Tsukihime Another must play, and no this one does not have a anime adaption.

http://vndb.org/v7 (it is ancient, got no voice and no music. But it is so good)

Muv Luv series, now Muv Luv extra is not that good and Unlimited is merely good but alternative is definitly a must read and to understand it completely you need to have read these two first.

(I so hope muv luv alternative get's an anime adaption at some point)

http://vndb.org/v93 (extra/unlimited) yes they are packed into one game

http://vndb.org/v92 (alternative)

g senjou maou Is also a must read.

http://vndb.org/v211

clannad is also a must read and is together with fate/stay night one of the vn flagships, muv luv can possible also be considered a flagship.

http://vndb.org/v4

Other than that there is Grisaia no Kajitsu wich is also a must read. (By the way, no panty shots in this one, just sex jokes by amane instead)

http://vndb.org/v5154.

Ty guys :3 Actually I have a problem, I can't play a VN if I saw the anime before, and vice versa. So Clannad and Fate/stay night are in my mind "already done". I've heard about Grisaia no Kajitsu, but I'm waiting for the Denpasoft release (well, if they actually realease it someday). I'll Google the others, thank you :)

The heavens feel route from fate/stay night has not yet been adapted and the novels is just a better story than both of the anime adaptions.

And you could always read the sequel.

fate/Hollow atracxia. (the sequel to fate stay night... sort of)

https://vndb.org/v50

But i would recommend you read fate stay night first as it would make a lot more sense if you have read all three routes.

First off welcome to the site, I'm sure you will have a..... intersting time here. Now engaging "preachy" mode.

I can understand your mindset and this holds very true in the case of Clannad, but usually when it concerns visual novels, when you say that watching the anime is the same as reading the visual novel.... that's kinda like saying watching the Passion of Christ is the same as reading the entire Bible. Many visual novels are thirty to fifty hours in length, while a typical two cour anime is only eight hours.

Also, I second the MuvLuv trillogy recommendation.

Play 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors  if you like mystery, horror, thriller, or puzzles. It's a story about nine people who are kidnapped and put in a ship to play a game called Nonary Game, in which they solve puzzles and get out of the ship in nine hours or die.

It's for the DS though, so you need a 3DS or a DS to play it. Or an emulator.

I'm not saying it's the same thing, it's just that I don't enjoy the anime / VN as much if I seen the other media as if I didn't. I tried playing Steins;Gate after watching the anime but I got bored near the middle. By the way, should I use "play" or "read" when I'm speaking of VNs ? I never know.

Thank you for the greetings and the suggestions guys :)

Well Steins;Gate is a bit of a special case, the direction of the anime was more of a "thriller" while the visual novel had alot more "hard sci-fi" elements.

As for the eternal question regarding "reading" or "playing" visual novels.... I havn't the slightest clue.

Bienvenue!

(I don't practice typing my French enough, so I had to do it. :P)

Hello, salut Sheonoro ! Just another suggestions : Minori's EF (https://vndb.org/v88) and Eden* (https://vndb.org/v1286). You'll cry but for very good reasons...Bonnes lectures ! Enjoy the reading :makina:

I have Eden* installed, never launched it and I don't know exactly why x) I see a lot of people posting links to vdbn.org, is it a good reference ?

Get out of here

But... I'm a friendly guy...

Thanks for your suggestions, I'm taking notes :)

Welcome, welcome, welcome Sheonori-san to our lair. Enjoy your time and relax here. Feel free to ask/discuss/share anything with us. You can see my VN preference on VNDB. Hope that it'll help you.

About your english, don't worry, I won't hit you unless you irritate me for some reason. Regarding VNs, they're games and also novels, so you can either "play" them or "read" them.
