Site Work Failed, But We Didn't Die

Ugh. Still more roadblocks. Need to get an as-yet unknown password from Nay in order to get this sucker changed. For now, please enjoy the mess of a forums we've got, and dream of the forums we will probably never one day have.

Isn't Coda an important part of the story? onorub's post earlier on this page made it seem so. I don't want to start reading something now and then have to wait for my Japanese to improve until I can experience the conclusion of the story.

I guess that this is somewhat important for Setsuna route (and kazusa isn't in the closing chapter) but other heroines are completely apart from it. And I still enjoyed Setsuna route a lot without the need to read coda. (At least I'm not that impatient for the translation to be released)

Currently playing If You Love Me, Then Say So! (sukisuki) currently, the dirty jokes just get super boring after a while and how everyone just "sexually harrases" the MC is just too overused. I hope it gets better honestly.

So, I finally finished my second play through of Symphonic Rain and man, what a emotional ride! It's nice from time to time to reread something to see if it holds up. Symphonic Rain has really reaffirmed why it's in my top ten if not top five. I'm undoubtedly going to listen to that ost some many more times.

This my first time posting in this thread but I just want a place where comment my thoughts... Just finished Muv Luv; Extra wasn't that bored like I read before in some places, it was so entertaining, I enjoyed the comedy and the slice of life, I really liked the relationship between the MC and Sumika, Meiya has the stereotype of ojou-sama without common sense and somewhat disliked her for that but I started to get more respect for her after reading the routes of the other heroines. I finished all routes, all what I'll say that are bored lol I skipped some text just to finish it. About Unlimited, I was surprised to learn that Muv Luv is an... isekai? what? I never read the sinopsis, just all blind, I know that Muv Luv is about mechas and aliens, I assumed that something happen in Extra to derive a war against aliens but I never thought it was an isekai, was hard to swallowing that, I expected more than that, a little disappointed but I let it go and kept reading, until I liked Unlimited's story. I just finished Meiya's ending and Yuuko-sensei ending. :ren: No motivation to finish other endings because people said it's all similar, I don't have motivation to spent more time on it and the H-scenes are meh.

My motivation to read Muv Luv was ML Alternative, I've read very positives commentaries, is in the top VNs on VNDB and everyone says it's one of the best visual novels, I read Muv Luv with that in mind, otherwise I could never have finished or spent much time to Muv Luv Extra, I don't spent so much time reading a VN, unless it's good.

All right, then, Muv Luv Extra and Unlimited was just the tip of the iceberg, probably I'll spent more time reading Alternative because the beginning is very interesting, and the only spoilers I've read are that very horrible things happen, don't know details but I'll find it myself.

Sorry for the long post and sorry for my English grammar. lol

@Black99 It's a good thing you haven't been spoiled for MLA; many of the events that occur there have more shock value if you went in blind (just like I did). It is a very long read though, so it may take a while before you get to the good bits.

About White Album 2 (WA2) translation, I would say that it's fine enough to me. Then again I'm not translation expert, so perhaps you better try it first and you can decided to continuing if you don't have the problem with the translation seeing that the translation is widely said as bad (So called). It's too bad that we still didn't have Coda finished the translation, and as for Coda here it's more like the continuation of Introduction Chapter with the triangle love only that the casts is adult (Duh).

Disagree there, even if the translation itself is understandable enough, the text formatting would be unnacceptable by 2009 fantranslation standards. The last line or the last word of the sentence showing up at a new text box (could even happen with the period at the end of the sentence!), sometimes the text would fly off the text box... thing was a mess.

I could probably handle bad formatting and some translation errors (as long as they're not completely off the mark and change the meaning of the sentences), but not being able to read Coda afterwards is a dealbreaker for me now that I know that it's a major part of the story. I would have been fine with skipping it if it was just a bunch of afterstories full of h-scenes, like in a lot of other VNs.

Is Chika's route in Majikoi worth reading? I think she's a pretty horrible person, so I'm considering skipping it since I don't really feel like seeing Yamato hooking up with her. The same goes for Kosugi, who I hear has a route in Majikoi S.

Well, if you consider Chika to be a horrible person, then no, it's not worth it. Same with Kosugi. While both are very short, there isn't much of a point if you don't like the character.

Ugh, this VN is so fucked up. The girl of my avatar is from a fucked up game but hey, but there are a difference a bondage game from one that has plot and you're attached to the characters, it's make me so sad bro.  Well, I read 8 hours straight maybe I'll do something else to clear my mind haha.

Spoiler

So, she died, eh...

I didn't dislike them initially, but they did some stuff that I find pretty despicable.

Spoiler

In Chika's case, it was making fun of Yamato behind his back and then how she was a total asshole towards Gakuto in his route. She didn't feel bad about it whatsoever and most likely would never have apologized if it wasn't for the fact that Gakuto then saved her from getting raped by that group of thugs. As for Kosugi, I think she's a douche for spreading those nasty rumors about Miyako and Iyo.

I'm not sure if I'll actually be able to skip the routes, since I'm a completionist to the point of it being borderline OCD. In any case, even if I do read those routes, I sincerely doubt they can redeem my opinion of those characters.

Yeah, I don't think the game usually tries to redeem said characters. They're just people, sometimes they're arseholes to those they know less well, but if you get to know them better they'll show a different side. It's not that it offers a justification for their meaner actions, it's just two sides of the characters. And maybe you find them unbearable as a result of one of their facets.

@Seraphim88

That's pretty much it. It's a bit of a stark contrast because many of the characters, especially the main ones, are kind of one-sidedly pure and good. Those two are just... people, really. Both have their reasons and way of seeing the world and doing things and, perhaps more importantly, they don't have a window into the heart of other characters like we do. We know that Gakuto has a heart of gold, but for someone outside the group he might as well come off as a brainless, horny douche.

I actually just went through her route after all, and it didn't improve my opinion of her.

Spoiler

According to the Chika/Mayo backstory, she actually despises bullying, and yet she has no issue whatsoever treating Gakuto like that over something as petty as getting put down by a sound argument in the school debate. That's pretty hypocritical. Even if she thinks he's a moron, she honestly took it way too far.

Anyway, kudos to the developer. The fact that I feel this way is pretty much proof that they've made a good job of making characters that you connect with.

At chapter 9 of MLA. Sometimes I need to take a break of this novel, because It cause me some anxiety, even more on missions because I don't know what can happen.

Spoiler

All original members of Valkyria squadron are out of combat. while the harem are ok... Is a bit funny, I mean, this novel just introduce new characters and then die.

I had mixed feelings with Kagami's rape scene, because I'm into this kind of content while I feel bad for her. And, oh, this scene was a surprise for me, I thought they were going to dissect her alive or something like that, I mean, a ryona scene, not that they were going to rape her, given the nature of BETA.

EDIT: I just finished the VN, I feel so fucking empty, god.

The fucking PTSD. Reading the last chapter was so weird, weeeeiiiirrd.

Spoiler

Chizuru and Kei sacrifice were so fucking epic, the CG of Kei's mecha grabbing the BETA's head, uuuuhh E-P-I-C.

I felt sad about Mikoto and Miki's death, also, the fucking Miki corpse, holy shit.

The scene when Takeru was talking with the BETA was so interesting. And the sacrifice of Meiya, god, I just prayed for her, the only girl that I wanted alive.

And so... took me 110 hours to finish the trilogy, I don't know what to do now, maybe I'll watch the Muv Luv Alternative Total Eclipse anime (why not?) and read Photonflowers. I really want to read Schwazarkarken, I liked the anime but no news about the translation. :(
