What are you playing?

Thinking of dropping & and going back to Higurashi instead. I wanted something short and fun after how long and deep Eustia was, but I guess I shouldn't have bought something solely on the reputation of 'well they also made RuiTomo'. The plot in the game is just so... boring. If the characters didn't have such fun personalities I would have given up in the first two hours or so. At this rate I think I'll stick with it to the end of the first route and then shelf it until I've gone through better games.

I guess the best way to put the way & feels is they took a short story and tried to stretch it out into a 30-ish hour game. Every time the plot grinds an inch forward it comes to a dead stop as everyone sits around discussing things or the main character sits around reminiscing about the SAME EXACT STUFF AGAIN. I long for the filler in Eustia because at least when that padded out its length it did so with new things instead of just re-iterating the exact same stuff over and over. And did I really need a whole long  scene of the main character learning all about roguelike games?

Not impressed, Mages. Not impressed at all.

Edit: Out of curiosity, how long do you give a VN that is boring you before you drop it like it's hot? Do you move on as soon as it starts to bore you, or do you give it a chance just in case it gets better later on?

Ya that was my play order

Also based on the common view that Yumiko+Michiru are the losers while Makina+Amane are the winners when it comes to enjoyment of the routes

I personally thought Yumiko+Michiru weren't THAT bad and Makina+Amane weren't THAT good, but yeah,

Sachi > all

"Sachi > all" you know what's up

tbh the only two reasons that make me refrain from playing her route first is that I don't wanna get hit by so many feelz plus if I finish her route first, I would lose almost all interest in the whole vn :sachi:

I read totono for quite a while today and I've been having tons of fun. I found myself laughing out loud more than normally, even though the humor was just normal. Reading stuff in other language makes it completely different experience. The slow pace isn't bothering me at all anymore.

I'm having hard time with some of the lines from Aoi, since the meaning of the words are sometimes kinda hard to understand when they written only in katakana. It doesn't help that I'm pretty bad with katakana in general.

Chapter 6, (starting Yumina's route)

Wow, didn't know this VN would pull a Rewrite on me.

(Slight plot direction spoilers)

"Oh don't mind me, I'm just partaking in my own school shenanigans" for the entirety of common route and then BAM get pulled into this global scale end of the world conflict with supernatural stuff and secret organizations.

Oh and SPAAAAAACE!!!!

Started playing Comyu yesterday, and blew a lot of hours on it.

I just finished Benio's H-scene a couple of hours ago. I like Benio very much to the point that I didn't want to really see her H-scenes. Part of me wanted to though since, well, I'm a boy. Anyway, that scene made me stop playing for a while, probably because my heart was beating too fast.

...How can I play porn games like this?

Anyway, here are my thoughts on the route:

The thing is, I'm real excited on whatever's happening in Comyunet. The conflict between the Round Table and Caesar's Legion is slowly building up to the point that it might explode, and I can't wait for the war between them to ensue. I wonder what would happen to the Striders if the two biggest factions battle it out against each other for control of the kingdom? Anyway, things are really getting exciting. I love how the game gave us a taste of El-ahrairah's power. Yeah, Itsuki's avatar. That thing really was powerful. Maybe it's because Itsuki's a Lord and a pure 10/10/10/10 in skill. Compared to Akihito, well, yeah lol. I'm currently wondering if the Bishop class is the weakest of the special classes, in terms of effectiveness of functions. 7/7/7/7 sure ain't bad, but how does it do when compared to the other special classes? Apparently, the Lord can also use the special attack of the avatar, so the Bishop is automatically outclassed. Or maybe it's because a Lord outclasses all the others? Anyway, Babylon vs. El-ahrairah was lackluster, sure, but I'm looking forward to further sorties between them. El-ahrairah must be more powerful than that. Itsuki's an arrogant bastard, so no doubt he held back something. But that special move though. That 'Judgement of E-' something. It completely beat Babylon's fireball attack. I wonder what's the special skill that El-ahrairah holds? If Babylon controls gravity, what does El-ahrairah do? How exciting.

Anyway, my problem with H-scenes seem to be focused only on Benio, since I was looking forward to Haru's. This is what I get for not wanting to associate lewdness to girls I like. Oh well.

I do hope I get more action here. And also, Girl A, please sing for us once more.

I went Amane -> Sachi -> Michiru -> Yumiko -> Makina.  I got pretty bored when I got to Makina's route, so keeping Sachi's route for later might be a good idea.  I'd recommend going Michiru/Yumiko -> Makina -> Amane -> Michiru/Yumiko (whichever you didn't already do) -> Sachi.  Michiru and Yumiko's routes are generally thought of as the worst, so I wouldn't recommend doing them back-to-back.  I personally loathe Michiru's route, and if you read it I'm sure you'll understand why.  Anyway, that order makes sure things start fairly light, will ease you into Amane's route, and let you finish things on a great note with Sachi's route.

Just a warning (not spoilers or anything, just something you should know before you read Amane and Makina's routes):

Amane and Makina's routes have watersports, aka sex involving urine, in their h-scenes.  Be prepared.

Well I will probably go by this order.

Ever since katawa shoujo, I learned never to read good routes first (Lilly and Hanako <3) and keep the worst till the end (fk u Shizune). I heard Makina's route is long and I am not interested in her so I dunno and tbh I am liking michiru's route sk far. Only two scenes in thou thanks to my dear finals , I can barely read it for two hours every 3 days :amane: .

oh and thanks for that spoiler even thou I probably won't read a single h-scene (reading it on my pc in my living room, know the terror!)

kanakos route in fd caused me to break down from the sheer amount of kawaiiness

the one scene where the mc woke up in his bed with her sitting halfnaked nearby...my heart went all kyun, kyun!

Ch 8 Yumina

Took long enough to reach her H-scene >.> (apparently I've clocked 24 hours of playtime according to the in-game timer (more VNs should have this feature!); not sure how inflated this is due to me afking in the middle of dungeons and whatnot)

Normally I'm an avid hater of the whole "sex immediately after confessing" thingy, but due to 'plot' I guess can forgive things this time around :makina:

~~

Overall so far I have a love/hate relationship with this VN.

  • Combat & dungeon crawling can be somewhat addictive at times, but more often then not feel like a chore.
  • Story is so-so; feels a bit 'cartoony' with the whole space & intergalactic warfare shenanigans; I enjoyed the common route school bits more. I like having the option of partaking in the side plot of the medieval virtual world, Ordacle; it serves as a nice contrast to the futuristic main plot. (Can't determine who's better..... Veridadia or Yupcilla?! Not that I like lolis >.>...)
  • Characters are touching enough, though the amount of cliche "it's a small world!" connections they have with each other feels a bit overdone (SPOILER "yo my douche foster papa who assigned me to protect you because you'll save the world one day or something turned out to be your biological father. Oh and our senpai? Yeah, she turned out to be your mom's friend") Mhmm. Small world.

Don't invest more time in the fantasy world than you have to for your first two playthroughs. You don't unlock all of the quests there until you're on Very Hard difficulty. I believe there is an ending attached to doing all the major questlines there though.
