starlessn1ght
Up to now, in all the VNs I've played there were very few kiss CGs, despite lots of kisses. What makes me mad is this: They draw HCGs but can't draw a proper kiss CG! What the heck?! I've played 5 VNs, and I can only remember 7 kiss CGs out of like 100 kisses! And I'm playing Grisaia now, but I haven't seen a single kiss CG! C'mon. What's with those guys?
Nosebleed
Because most male targeted VNs focusing on romancing girls are about reader self insertion. Can't have the protagonist in those CGs, that's heresy, my waifu belongs to me alone. - Every Otaku Ever yvetox, kingdomcome, Narcosis and 2 others

Nosebleed
what about the H-scenes then? lol Obviously the 2D penis on the screen is a depiction of the reader's penis (pictures may differ from the actual product). Okay, but when a game has a kiss CG for one heroine and all the others it doesn't? LB! When the budget gets tight, they probably draw a lot to see which girl gets the kiss scene Silvz and Ainz

Nosebleed
And let's face it, Nosebleed. Yuuji isn't really someone easy to self-insert or even meant for that.
starlessn1ght
I think you don't understand what "self insertion" means. The protagonist doesn't have to be relatable in any way in terms of personality, what matters is that the CGs give room for the reader to not think about the guy being there and just focus on the girl. Kurisu-Chan
Reverse it then. Well, since watching hentai is Haram for muslims and forbidden by Jewish, i see nothing wrong in that.

Nosebleed
But is it really worth to sacrifice those beautiful kiss CGs for those strange semi-kiss CGs for the sake of self insertion? Do you really agree with that? A CG being "Beautiful" is a very, very subjective factor. What is beautiful to you might not be beautiful to others. Perhaps they choose the "semi-kiss" CGs because the majority of the core audience prefers them. Ever thought that could be the case? I mean, there's really not much to address here, it's just companies targeting their predominantely straight male audience, nothing more. That's why even in HCGs all the angles focus on the girl, rarely the guy, because that's what the core audience wants to see.
starlessn1ght
Because the male audience, by and large, doesn't want kiss CGs defiling their porno CG gallery Eh? But this would only apply to a nukige... Non-nukiges have other non-H CGs too... A CG being "Beautiful" is a very, very subjective factor. What is beautiful to you might not be beautiful to others. I just wondered if it could be bad luck of me picking the wrong games.

Nosebleed
I just wondered if it could be bad luck of me picking the wrong games. This is a trend that can be seen pretty much across 99% of charage and moege aimed at males. If a VN is about getting in girls routes with the primary intent of dating them, then it's likely you'll never see any side of the protagonist because the game is aimed at making the reader feel like they're conquering girls. Key games are all about self insertion too.
Eclipsed
All in all, I wouldn't mind seeing more kiss CGs (that actually show the protagonist).
Decay
what about the H-scenes then? lol Most h-scenes don't show the male partner, either. At least, not clearly. Sometimes you only see their dick, sometimes you don't even see that, and a lot of the time you'll just see their back or side, with them in the corner of the screen while the girl is front and center. Basically, this and also the kissing thing is all because most VNs are pornographic eroge and the customer base likes to fap to the fantasy of themselves in these situations. If a story isn't meant to be fapped to, you're more likely to clearly see both partners kissing.
