Uh, there is no Konomi scene on March 7 as far as I can tell? Have you got a screenshot or the scene immediately before or immediately after so I can find it? awvnx
I've been interested in playing a NVL format VN. But what's up with the line breaks in the translation? There's separate line breaks for each dialog line in the original, but everything is one big paragraph in the translation. It makes it much harder to read. (not the same scene)

(not the same scene) The English doesn't fit on one screen, leading to total fuckups on playback otherwise where the text runs off the screen and you have to scroll back to try and read it. Japanese is a more concise language. Suzu Fanatic

Japanese is a more concise language. Are there a lot of scenes long enough for that to happen? The Japanese font is huge so it's not like a lot of text can fit there anyway, like in F/SN. I don't think it's a good compromise to change every text box by removing line breaks just for the very few that are too long to fit. I went through a bit of the game but didn't see any text go past half the screen, so it seems like there should be room for some line breaks at least. I'm sorry but if you want better it would need either manual formatting or much smarter text insertion code. I have not the time for either. EDIT: To put into perspective how much formatting is required, there are 102884 "lines" of original breaks in the text and 94673 separate lines of actual text to format. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for the patch to get better and better, I just have no resources and very very few people are putting up their hands to provide concerted effort in helping which means it's still mostly a one man show. Having done a lot of the programming and 99% of the translating, you'll excuse me for taking it easy now.
awvnx
Hmm, I know some scripting for processing text. If it's feasible to do the line breaks in some automatic fashion then I'll check out the IRC and see if I can help.

May I ask how much of an issue this is if each line appears one at a time? Re-reading and the backlog are a bit harder to read because of it, but you should have no issue if you read each line as they appear. At least I didn't. I don't know where you downloaded the patch from but it wasn't the one in the top post on this forum thread so you must have an older patch. ittaku
I just bought myself one of these to commemorate the completion which is a figurine I spotted many years ago when in Japan: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P0CT2W Suzu Fanatic, XReaper, Ivan A. and 1 other

Weird cause I know I have the new beta patch and unpacked it and dropped it into the game folder... let me try again. edit: didnt work... hmmm is "patch.pak" from the original alpha patch? it's dated 2006-01-05 (yyyy-mm-dd) let me try deleting that file and see what happens. Edit1: Ok that worked... so patch.pak from one of the earlier alpha patches has to be deleted.
AlphaSixNine
I've been playing Sasara route, but the game crashes at the same point at 3/25 date in the game. I get these sequence of pop-up boxes then the game just crashes. Anyone have encountered this and found a way to fix it? Using Windows 8.1 btw
ittaku
I've been playing Sasara route, but the game crashes at the same point at 3/25 date in the game. I get these sequence of pop-up boxes then the game just crashes. Anyone have encountered this and found a way to fix it? Using Windows 8.1 btw It says that it can't decode one of the pictures and asks about overclocking and hard drive errors. Is it possible you have a corrupt copy of the game? Alternatively it may just be new windows incompatibility fuckage... Also I've uploaded a beta3 patch which is basically the same text apart from cleaning up Lucy's epilogue, but line breaks are inherited from the original text only when new quotes appear, as a kind of half way point that still allows the English to all fit on screen. I've updated one of the snapshot pics in the OP so you can see. However note that every time there's a new patch, your saved games will be BROKEN. AlphaSixNine
Actually, the game still continues for a few more lines after those pop-up boxes shows up before crashing, so I'm not entirely convinced it's related. Besides, I encountered those pop-up messages too earlier in the route, but the game actually never crashed. Would it be possible to check if maybe there's an error in the patch that causes the crash on that specific date? Or have you confirmed already? Thanks EDIT: NVM, actually the game still crashes at the same point without the patch. Anyone have a md5 checksum of a non-corrupted iso copy of the game, maybe I can use that check if my copy is corrupted or not. Or it could be just the game doesn't work to well on windows 8.

Maxel
Hmm, I think it's time to play this one Installed the game on Win 8.1 64b, working flawless so far Don't really like NVL format though... But I'll try to bear with it. Looks like there's many choices, I'll play without any walkthrough, probably will get the worst possible outcome, because of it. @edit Encountered small problem ^^' Instead of opening I have black screen + music ^.^ Nvm, somehow made it works

ittaku
that yocchi got no route for herself striked me hard, have a weak spot for kansai chicks & their dialect.... Yocchi doesn't really have a kansai dialect, just a quirky ending -su. But you can go for the twins though, for they have a solid kansai-ben accent. Yocchi is a route in ToHeart2 AnotherDays. ittaku
I've uploaded a beta4 patch. http://ittaku-subs.net/th2beta4.7z Changes since the beta3 patch: Numerous on-screen formatting errors have been automatically corrected. The text reinsertion code has been corrected to leave room for the chosen protagonist's name. Numerous spelling mistakes have been automatically corrected and converted to consistent UK English. Consistency for quoting and ellipsis was automatically corrected where possible. Characters that wouldn't appear on-screen or appear wrong due to the font have been corrected. Quick one-pass editing was performed for Yuuki and Lucy's routes by myself - at great cost in terms of lost bodily fluid. Translators editing their own work tend to overlook their own mistakes so I've not tried to do a comprehensive edit by any stretch and have only corrected obvious typos and things that made no sense. Some obvious Japanese errors and missed lines that I spotted and were pointed out to me have been corrected. This is about the extent of what I'm willing to do by myself. 4 people so far have PM'ed me about editing the text and I've sent them my editor's test (Thanks!). It appears my requirements are either too great, too fussy or my data too difficult to deal with as nothing conclusive has come of that process so far. I'd prefer editors who have done my editor's test and are willing to edit at least one whole route - these vary in size from 5000 to 18000 lines. Please don't be put off by the words "editor's test", it's just to see if any corrections made are actually corrections only and nothing to do with whether you meet some kind of high quality standard. What remains: 1st pass edit is required for Sasara's route only - which also happens to be the longest route. Translation check would be ideal for all routes. So far 2nd-person translation check has happened for Konomi, Yuma and Yuuki. The quality and sporadic nature of translation check means I'd rather just say the whole lot needs translate checking. As mentioned, Lucy's route is by far the most robust since it was translated last and I went over it more than just once, including editing it myself. 2nd pass edits would be ideal for the whole game. Enjoy! XReaper, Loco15, Mr Poltroon and 4 others
TexasDice
Is the missing dialogue for Yuuki and the Twins fixed? I've put both routes on hold for now, because I didn't want to miss 15 minutes worth of content in the middle of a route. Also, should someone make a discussion thread, linking to the translation project and walkthrough in Visual Novel Talk? It seems appropriate to me, as the translation and walkthrough threads start showing traces of off-topic, because we lack a thread for that. I don't want to jump the gun here, since it's your project after all.
XReaper
@texas, everything got fixed & you´re able to enjoy them 2 routes now to the fullest. edit: like ittaku mentioned above, there´s only some re-editing left of the routes he translated first.
