  1. For the uniniated, 428 -In A Blockaded Shibuya- is a visual novel adventure game created and written by veterans Kōichi Nakamura and Jiro Ishi. It was developed by Chunsoft (known for the long line of "Sound Novels") and published by Sega. As you might have guessed, the story takes place in the modern Japanese district of Shibuya. The plot follows five different characterrs with their own seemingly seperate storylines However, as major events begin to play out; these characters are soon drawn together when Shibuya is locked down due to a deadly virus. The game was originally on Wii, but later ported over to PS3, PSP, iOS, Android. Does anyone have any idea if a fan translation is possible? Dagnan Ronpa and Steins;Gate have proven that fan translaions can be done with iOS and PSP games, but is it even attemptable for Wii and PS3? How does this visual novel not have a fan translation!? It's one of the few games to receive a 40/40 from the Japanese magazine Famitsu, it's one of the few visual novels to use live-action stills, there's hours of gameplay, a whopping 85 possible endings, and it looks like to be one of the best stories ever in video games. I'm completely shocked to see that no one on the Internet hasn't attempted at translating it. Isn't there ANYONE out there who's interested in this game at all? It's surely a hefty task trying to translate a 50 hour visual novel, but it'd be no doubt worth it in the end. I personally have zero programming skills or experience, so that unfortunately prevents me from attemtping to do anything. However, if anyone was at all interested in creating a patch; I'd be glad to help out it someway such as being a localizer for the raw translated text. Is anyone here interested in starting this project? Or do you know someone who would be able to? Please give me your feedback! 2. In honor of Steins;Gate's 5th anniversary, 5pb is having a massive sale on all their titles across a variety of platforms. The sale will last from 8/13/2014 - 8/27/2014. This is an extremely rare event, because 5pb rarely discounts their games. Among those are Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, Memories Off, and Corpse Party. A full list of titles is here. http://www.inside-games.jp/article/2014/08/08/79317.html I'm not entirely sure if this extends to physical releases since the sale includes PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, and Vita. On iOS and Android, however, these games are available on the Apple Store and Google Play worldwide. Of course, all these titles are Japanese language only. Still, Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate can be patched into English on iOS and Android assuming that you have the right software. This blog contains the patches and files needed. http://i-vntp.blogspot.com/ On a side note, Corpse Party has been confirmed for a release on iOS, in English, for 8/14/2014 on the App Store. This game has been available on iOS for quite some time, but it was only in Japanese. It's apparently a direct port of XEED's translation on PSP, so I expect it to have full voice acting as well as everything else originally featured. http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPad/Corpse+Party/news.asp?c=61012 It's going to cost $22, though whether or not the sale will extend to it is unknown. Still, it's a great way for people like me who don't own PSPs to finally experience the game. So will you be taking advantage of 5pb's sale? Sound off below!
  3. Hello, I'm a first time poster of Fuwanovel. I've been a long time user of the site, but have only recently joined the forums. I'm starting this thread to build interest in a potential English patch for the iOS and Android version of KID's critically acclaimed adventure visual novel Ever 17 -The Out of Infinity-. The game, (along with the rest of the Infinity series) is available on the Japanese iTunes and Google Play stores; but unfortunately have no English support. Via Twitter, I'm in contact with someone who would be able to create such a patch for the game. The Twitter user in question is "i-vntp" as seen here. https://twitter.com/IVNTP He was one of the people responsible for the Steins;Gate iOS patch back in 2011 and is currently devloping an application that would allow visual novels to be converted into iOS and Android format. I am aware of VNDS, which is a fantastic application in its own right, but it is severely limited in terms of movement and there is currently no video support whatsoever. The point of this patch is to create definitive handheld Ever 17 experience. If and when said English patch is created, users would be able to apply it to the original app and play the entire game translated, just like the PC version. The creation of the actual patch wouldn't be too time-consumer and is very possible. What this project needs though is the people to support it. i-vntp has stated that he will only make the patch if enough people are interested. This is where you people come in. Please show your support for this project by clicking "Yes" on the poll! We need enough votes in order to show that there is demand for this patch! And if it is sucessful, who knows? Perhaps patches for the other Infinity games on iOS and Android could happen at some point in the future. But right now the focus is on Ever 17. Show your support today! Thanks!
  4. I have absolutely no experience with Key's long line of visual novels, so I've made the decision to start where it all began. And that's with Kanon. I already have the full game with the voice patch installed on PC, but I'd really like to play it on the go since I'm not always near my computer. I am aware that versions exist for iOS and Android of Kanon. However, these are only in Japanese. Is there any English patch available? If not, is there any way that I could read Kanon on iOS or Android? Thanks.
  5. Way back in 2012, Chunsoft officially announced that they would be releasing their seminal and critically acclaimed Sound Novel Kamaitachi no Yoru (lit. Night of the Sickle Weasel) on iOS and Android. Not only that, they also revealed that they planned to release it officially in ENGLISH as well. http://www.siliconera.com/2012/07/27/chunsofts-murder-mystery-the-night-of-the-kamatachi-is-finally-being-localized/ This was outlined as part of their plans to "introduce" visual novels in the West, intending to mainly target that tablet eBook reader audience. They additionally did a whole presentation of it outlining their complete plans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z_46jdmrTo Sure enough, the game was in fact released in Japan earlier this year. https://itunes.apple.com/jp/app/kamaitachino-ye-smart-sound/id577038600?mt=8 It's the end of 2013 now, over a year since Chunsoft's original announcement. We haven't heard a single bit of news about the subject. Has anyone got any new info about Kamaitachi's localization? I really hope that this wasn't cancelled. None of Chunsoft's original "Sound Novel" games have ever been released outside of Japan. If these games do get localized, this is huge news for the visual novel community. Any thoughts?
