I want to try and tweak the dialogue of the english release of CLOCKUP's "Healthy Hentai Lifestyle" which was released a few months ago. CLOCKUP games use the Yu-Ris visual novel engine which has a reputation for being difficult to work with, and I'm using a program called YuRISTools (see below) which says it's an all-in-one tool. I've managed to extract the .ybn files from the script.ypf using it, but naturally they're all encrypted. Since it doesn't come with a guide I've basically been fumbling around in the dark and I've tried putting every single file that came with the game into the tool to try and find the correct 8 digit cypher/code, but have turned up nothing. https://github.com/fengberd/YuRISTools Does anyone have any experience with this tool?

The Steam Deck is a handheld console based on SteamOS from Valve. As the system does not run on Windows not every game will work directly out of the box, for that reason I try to aggregate as much information as possible in this thread Games get added after I played them for a time to look out for issues and fixes. Please also add your experience with VNs on Steam Deck in the comments so I can add them to the list I recommend using an external keyboard when setting up Lutris, Protontricks and Proton GE. The on screen keyboard can be opened with "STEAM" + "X" and closed again with "B". NEW GUIDE AVAILABLE UNDER VisualNovelWiki Website also has specific instructions for games like Dead End Aegis, Full Metal Daemon Muramasa and more. Steam Launch Options Some games require you to set custom launch options in Steam, if required the launch options will be listed with the game. How to set custom launch options Protontricks Protontricks is a software which lets you easily install adult patches and additional required software, you can check out the project on GitHub here. Installation Guide Using Protontricks Proton Versions: Click Proton comes in different versions, normally you'll be okay with using the default version, sometimes you can encounter issues though which can be fixed with Proton GE, Proton Experimental or an older version of Proton. Proton GE: Click Proton GE is a community fork of Proton which adds additional support for mediaplayback, you can check out the project GitHub here. Installation Guide How to install Lutris: Click How to setup Wine prefixes: Click How to enable Japanese Locales: Click How to get custom artworks to Steam (for Steam games and non steam games): Click Controller Layout for most Visual Novels A, L1, R1, L4, R4 & R2 -> Left mouseclick B, Start -> Escape X & L2 -> Right mouseclick Sticks & Tackpads -> Mouse with clicking down being left mouseclick Battery Saving Settings The Steam Deck is a portable system and runs on a battery, because of that I changed some options on my device in order to extend the playtime. You can use the "..." button to open the quick access menu and change the settings under the battery icon. All the settings can be made either per game or global for the full system. For my Steam Deck I usally limit the refresh rate of the pannel to 40hz & limit the FPS to 40, 20 or 10 depending on how motion heavy the VN is A TDP limit of 5-8w should be enough for most VNs too, but you can adjust this to your needs. For some older games (and RPG Maker ones) you can enable FSR to get a sharper image. Additional Tips When possible chose windows mode instead of fullscreen for the best performance. Gamemode will make those games fullscreen anyways. Only chose fullscreen for RPG Maker games or other which show content outside of the visible screen. Some more tips thanks to barjed on Reddit: All Unity based VNs should work without Problem (excl. Video). If a game crashes due to a video, a possible fix is the deletion of the video in the game files You can also prepear the games on Windows and use Warpinator to push the game on Deck. I just bought Fortissimo FA INTL Ver on Steam and seeing some negative review about the translation of the game I wonder if there are any translate mod that I can use from the game

Hi everyone. My current translating project has left me quite confused and I don't even know where to begin. I've been translating and writing an English script for Jisatsu no Tame no 101 no Houhou by DUKE in my free time for almost a year now. I've got around an hour or two of content translated but I have zero programming knowledge or experience. Jisatsu 101 is out of circulation and less-than-legal digital copies barely work on a WindowsXP VM (I tried to get the game installed on a Windows98 VM but it didn't work). Is there any chance of being able to patch and port the game to modern OS? If so, how would I go about doing that? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Here's a download link to my copy of the game if anyone is curious. Thanks for reading.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/99640711/memento-aurora-chronicles/description I recently came across this kickstarter and noticed that it’s very old. Their official webpage is down and they haven’t logged onto kickstarter in a couple months. They have another game on steam under their studio but this one isn’t listed anywhere I could easily find. Does anyone know where I can find a download link for it or some place to buy it from? It looks real fun and it would be a shame to let it be lost imo.

The song in question: http://0x0.st/olQT.mp3 There's a freely-available amateur VN that seems to "borrow" music from other sources including anime and other VNs and, while I've been able to identify all of the other songs used in this aforementioned amateur VN, this one song has alluded me even when trying to use reverse music search, so I figured I'd ask here and see if anybody knows of the original source of this song. One key thing though is that the song is loopable as-is which implies to me that it was taken directly from a game or VN (though possibly still re-encoded to MP3 considering that 99.999% of PC VNs tend to use either LPCM, midi, ADPCM, OGG vorbis, or Opus) - note that I've made no alterations to the file in question (unless you count the file name being stripped out by the temporary file host that I'm using) so, yes, the metadata was indeed completely blank. For reference, I did try asking the author/dev (it's just 1 person) of the aforementioned amateur VN but that hasn't really gotten anywhere other than learning that the author basically hates doing audio work and just leaves that stuff to the last minute, and I'm getting the impression that they don't particularly seem to keep track of what they've previously done with their audio assets when putting together a new version of their amateur VN. This also greatly implies that the song was also not edited by the author/dev which and that the seamless loop was added/edited after-the-fact, leading farther credence that the song is from a game or VN.

Hello, I just wanted to know if there is a way to edit the contents of Harem Tengoku da to Omottara Yandere Jigoku Datta, since I just wanted to change the text box of the game since it's transparent and I'm using a OCR to translate the texts. The transparency kinda gets in the way when it's getting translated. Thank you in advance!~

Hello, I'm new to this forum and I did some research on how to setup TA with Textractor (based on what I mostly saw) but I haven't saw a tutorial how to make those two work (since I'm new to using this one). I already have Jparser and MeCab setup in TA. Since I'm trying to play love death series. Thank you in advance!

Hello, I'm translating a visual Nobel called Kenga Kimi from Rejet. In this game, if you set the entry name, the characters call the default name by voice. Therefore, I would like to change the entry name to english when translating. What should I do in this case? I think the entry name is set in the exe file, but I can't modify it due to my lack of ability. It's based on the Unity engine.

help Unity Hacking Assistance: DaCapo 3 R ~X Rated~
Jair4x posted a topic in Fan Translation Discussion
I'm trying to work with DaCapo 3 R ~X Rated~ which works with UnityFS (fuck Unity, all my homies hate Unity) to get the script files and such. I was able to get all the images, voices and videos, but there's a problem with the script: The scripts are all in the .bytes format. Using UABE to extract and dump the assets would lead to getting the .dat files. Which are somewhat erratic, with a lot of ? signs and illegible code, but show a little of dialog at the end of them. With "little" dialog, I mean 20 lines at most per file. Thing is, I can't edit them and compress them again into the script file because the TextAsset properties would change and the game would crash. Talked in the Discord server about it a few hours ago, but neither the person who helped me (Thank you Sirus) or I could get much deeper than getting the .dat files and opening them to edit them. Any help with this hacking would be highly appreciated. TL;DR: Info someone might ask/want: -

have a problem translating steam vn(solved)
Critias0038 posted a topic in Fan Translation Discussion
I am translating Tsuyuchiru letter(Letters from a rainy day) in Korean. But I have a problem about repacking. This game has two versions. DLsite version(support Japanese only) and Steam version(support JP/EN/CH). And I was trying to translate steam version. but I have an error with "Cannot convert given narrow string to wide string" I unpacked game as GARbro, translated scripts which is in the scn folder, repacked in patch.xp3 and replace it in the game file, and the error begins when start the game. However when I replaced same patch.xp3 in DLsite version trial, it worked. I have unpacked steam version with some decrypt settings but not in the dlsite version, So I wonder it has some encrypt difference between these two version. How can I make the translation well in steam version too? the game engine in dlsite version was kirikiriZ. -
After doing some thinking regarding the development/production of my own visual novel, my team and I are starting to come to the conclusion that most of our current problems would be solved by having...well, an actual publisher! XD We self-published our first visual novel, Siren's Call, and while things went better than expected, our biggest weakness as a team was definitely marketing/putting our game in front of people's faces. I know that Sekai Project exists, but other than them, I'm having trouble finding out exactly what our team's options would be in regards to indie visual novel publishing. Does anybody have any experience with small publishers? If so, what are the pros and cons of those you've interacted with so far? Who seems worth contacting and why?

Hey everyone! I would like to translate a visual novel called Steam Prison which uses .arc files. I was able to extract them perfectly with GARbro but the extracted files have ilegible characters. I don't know if the problem is with the extraction tool or the scripts need to be decrypted. If anyone knows about it or wants to try I leave one of the .arc files here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/8qsdzeabmi0ah91/data01530.arc/file

Good evening everyone, I was wondering if anyone has attempted to do a data extraction on the latest minatosoft game 我が姫君に栄冠を WagaHimegimi ni Eikan o. I am actually interested in doing a translation on this, I do understand how to read code and use cmd lines but I am unfamiliar with the data extraction technology/tools needed. I have attempted to try extracting the script.dat files using GARBro, however when I tried to do that I get an File extraction error: Error occured while extracting file script/0.txt Data not recognized as zlib-compressed stream. Also, if I try to open it with other tools, it would seem like the script.dat file is encrypted. So far only GarBro is able to open it(the other tools don't seem to be able to open as archive from the data/script extraction thread, or maybe I'm doing it wrongly lol.) . Or is there other available tools that could be used to decrypt an encrypted/file cannot be opened as archive file? Has anyone succeeded in extracting the scripts? if so, what kinds of tools/software is used? or by custom python file extraction methods? If so, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could enlighten me in this area. Thanks for reading this! I have decent proficiency in Japanese and have experience in translating, editing scripts to english(and I can understand Japanese slangs as well).

Hey everyone, Some time ago I created a topic for some tool to extract .pck files from the game "Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk", there someone created a tool, with that I extracted the files but in these there are .bin files. I searched all kinds of methods to decrypt them but none has been feasible. Sample of .bin files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BQOuu9zDlN8PxUqpUzmmfxyjJeiXYA_U/view If anyone knows of a tool that can help me with this I would be very grateful.

So I was trying to extract the files from the game directory for this game - https://vndb.org/v19083 But when I extract the files from the circled ones, the texts that come up are garbled nonsense. I tried to switch to different encoding but the results remained the same. First of all I went into the game directory and extracted the contents of this file - Then I selected the CODE file to open thinking it will have the coding part - But all it showed was this blasphemy - Then I changed the encoding several times but the results were more or less the same - Does anyone have any idea, how can I hack the script for this game? Thanks for taking time to read this post.

Hello, I don't have much knowledge in this kind of stuff. I want to try to translate the game in Greek but the font in-game shows symbols when I edit the dialogue. I already extracted the nss.npa with nipa. Also, I think the game uses the font "Tahoma" and "Lucida console". Thanks for your attention.

Hi guys, I'm a inexperienced translator trying to figure out how to extract the script from Astronaut's Nukige "Erect!" and I'm running into some problems (I'm not really good at technical issues). The game files are .gxp which I was able to extract using asmodean's tool, but inside the bincode.gxp is a moacode.mwb file . Using hex editor it's obvious that's where all of the dialogue for the game goes, but I can't figure out how to extract it. I look it up in the old data extraction thread and learn that their later games use the .mwb as a zlib file....I tried using some zlib tools to extract it but it seems like it's not a zlib file in this game. This has been mentioned before by Yasminkov If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it, thanks.

Hello, I am working on translating a game, but I have been unable to find a tool that can pull the script out of the game itself. The game uses a .pac file format, which doesn't seem to be supported by any of the commonly used tools. I have heard that .pac is an archive format, like .zip, but have been unable to find a tool that can unpackage them, if indeed that is what they are. I've attached a screen grab of the game files in case that helps identifying the format or the engine. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. Let me know if there is any further information needed. Game Files: https://imgur.com/a/kKfTS3H

Help/Tutorial translating an EAGLS Visual Novel
POLTATO posted a topic in Fan Translation Discussion
Hello, first post here I want to try translating a visual novel Honoo no Haramase Oppai Nyuu Doukyuusei ~Oppai mo Haramase! New Class Zen'in Harama-sensation!~ as a hobby project, I'm currently stuck at the point where I need to grab the scene text, I did manage to locate them with Garbro. What tools do I need to extract, edit/translate and export them into the game? I've seen a few post here but the tools and tutorial links are dead, or I didn't look closely enough? Thanks!
