  1. Hey everyone! I would like to translate a visual novel called Steam Prison which uses .arc files. I was able to extract them perfectly with GARbro but the extracted files have ilegible characters. I don't know if the problem is with the extraction tool or the scripts need to be decrypted. If anyone knows about it or wants to try I leave one of the .arc files here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/8qsdzeabmi0ah91/data01530.arc/file
  2. Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi No - VNDB Link A translation project by Inbou Translations OP: VN Description: (VNDB Description with slight tweaking on my part. Sorry for it being so awkward to read) Team: Project Leader/QC - VirginSmasher, yours truly. Translator - @ittaku Editor (Main School) - @Pomelo Extra QC - @Arcadeotic Extra TLC - @Clephas Hacker - @Porygon2 Image Editor - @Blake Translation Example: Recruitment Live Translation Updates can be found here - https://cookie4.com/projects/haruuru/progress/ Well, that's all I have to say for now. I'm pretty passionate about making this project succeed and we just need some more help on this project than we currently have. That being said, I will catch up with you guys soon.
  3. Good evening everyone, I was wondering if anyone has attempted to do a data extraction on the latest minatosoft game 我が姫君に栄冠を WagaHimegimi ni Eikan o. I am actually interested in doing a translation on this, I do understand how to read code and use cmd lines but I am unfamiliar with the data extraction technology/tools needed. I have attempted to try extracting the script.dat files using GARBro, however when I tried to do that I get an File extraction error: Error occured while extracting file script/0.txt Data not recognized as zlib-compressed stream. Also, if I try to open it with other tools, it would seem like the script.dat file is encrypted. So far only GarBro is able to open it(the other tools don't seem to be able to open as archive from the data/script extraction thread, or maybe I'm doing it wrongly lol.) . Or is there other available tools that could be used to decrypt an encrypted/file cannot be opened as archive file? Has anyone succeeded in extracting the scripts? if so, what kinds of tools/software is used? or by custom python file extraction methods? If so, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could enlighten me in this area. Thanks for reading this! I have decent proficiency in Japanese and have experience in translating, editing scripts to english(and I can understand Japanese slangs as well).
  4. Hello Fuwa, On behalf of the unnamed translation team that worked on the short game, Guilty Crown Lost Christmas, we are finally able to present to you an English patch for the game. The actual translation and editing has been completed a while ago, however technical issues that led to a very long delay. We can finally release for your viewing pleasure. Let me credit the wonderful people who made this possible: Hacker: lolgc Translator: Aiden K., Crysis99 Editing: Crysis99, Andrew Siu The patch can be found here, just extract the files into the installation folder and replace any existing files. If you still encounter any bugs, technical issues, or horrible grammar then contact lolgc over at his website. Enjoy.
  5. Hi everyone, I was advised to post on this forum to share the news about an English fan translation project for the 2002 Dreamcast visual novel “Nakoruru: Ano Hito kara no Okurimono” (ナコルル〜あのひとからのおくりもの〜) I am working as part of the translation team, working as the lead editor. My team has dubbed this visual novel "Nakoruru: The Gift She Gave Me" in English. When completed, this will be (to our knowledge) the one and only English language visual novel for the SEGA Dreamcast, aside from the indie title "Divi-Dead". This visual novel is actually a spin-off of SNK’s fighting franchise Samurai Shodown/Spirits, and focuses on the tale of a young orphan, Mikato, who it taken in by the titular character Nakoruru. Aside from the occasional reference, however, this visual novel is able to be enjoyed by those with no knowledge of the Samurai Shodown series. At the time of posting this thread, the project has been ongoing now for about a year and the visual novel is 73% translated and edited. For more information on the project, I recommend checking out our thread on the Dreamcast-Talk forums: https://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14736 Even though this visual novel is on the Dreamcast, it is incredibly easy to emulate on PC. Feel free to reply with any questions you may have and I’ll try my best to answer them!
  6. Introduction Hello, Fuwanovel. I am Nandemonai. Yes, the same Nandemonai from the PP/Jast forums, and the Mangagamer forums (back when they had forums). A few years ago, I found out that the NI Renewal version is a thing, with improved gfx and voice acting. Since Nocturnal Illusion is still my favorite game translated in the early years, I was interested. I have some Japanese skills, so I thought I'd try my hand at translating the updated scenes. This wasn't possible for two reasons. 1) The remake breaks the scenes up into completely different file structure than the original; and 2) The original translation is just terrible. Mostly unusable, and basically unsalvagable. I'd known it wasn't very good, but was still surprised at just how "not good" it really was. Long story short, I decided to re-translate the entire game from scratch. That was in 2011. I finished up the translation some time ago. Unfortunately, the coders I was relying on to reinsert the translation seem to have dropped off the face of the earth. The Team 6/26/2016 Thanks to Ryechu for agreeing to be an editor! 7/10/2016 A (belated) thanks to Mad Pierre mnakamura for agreeing to do the port. Well, to be honest? Right now (6/19/2016) there is no "team", there's just me. However, I did not reach this point all by myself. I would like to thank Kagami-sensei for generously assisting me in translating various lines that were giving me trouble. Kagami has touched < 1% of the lines of the game, but they're all the hard lines. Thank you very much. I would like to thank the folks over at vilevn.org - BaSF, Fenris, and kile. Without their assistance, this effort would have gone nowhere. They showed me how to extract the text from the original Nocturnal Illusion. They extracted the text from the remake (which involved finding existing tools, and then fixing bugs in them when they didn't work right). They sadly seem to have vanished. The last communication I had from them was in 2014, where they hoped to have a new version of vile ready "in a few months". Thank you guys very much for all the hard work. Progress Translation: 100% Editing: 50% Let's break this out. Initial editing pass: (by me) 100% Second pass (by Ryechu Darklord Rooke): 24.9% 71.0% Last updated: 07/04/2018 Coding: Need Humanity (0%) This project is now recruiting. I need coders capable of getting the remade script inserted into something that runs on modern Windows. Also, while I did a second pass of the translation and edited on the way, it probably needs real editors. Update: In the rollback, an edit to this post got lost. Ryechu and Darklord Rooke have agreed to edit this, and Mad Pierre mnakamura has agreed to port the game to an engine he is working on. Misc Q. Didn't you say the translation is at 100%? Why 99%? A. Yes, but there are a few minor nits that - since I'm creating this page anyway - I might as well try to crowdsource some picks for. More details to follow when I have time to post them. As it turns out, I was able to figure these out myself. Q. What about licensing? Doesn't Peter Payne have Nocturnal lllusion? A. Indeed he does, and I approached him about an official release. He informed me he hasn't got rights to the remake. (I presume the original contract is somehow still good, but the remake needs rights that can't be gotten because the company hasn't existed in 15 years. But Peter didn't say.) Peter did say a fan patch was okay with him.
  7. It hasn't been all too long ago since the group AGT released the obscure Vampire Knight DS game with their own English translation and now they did it again with an English patch for the "crazy mad delusional drama" PlayStation Portable game "Bakemonogatari Portable". In case you don't know the Monogatari Series, it is a series of mostly avant-garde Light Novels and other mutlimedia materials of particular franchises created by the - to this day - unknown Nisioisin (pronounced: Nishio Ishin). His works (in particular the Monogatari series) are mostly known due to their stellar anime adaptations by SHAFT Studios, Other nameworthy series of his include Zaregoto, Kubikiri Cycle, Medaka Box or Katanagatari among others. Patch can be procured here:
  8. So I was trying to extract the files from the game directory for this game - https://vndb.org/v19083 But when I extract the files from the circled ones, the texts that come up are garbled nonsense. I tried to switch to different encoding but the results remained the same. First of all I went into the game directory and extracted the contents of this file - Then I selected the CODE file to open thinking it will have the coding part - But all it showed was this blasphemy - Then I changed the encoding several times but the results were more or less the same - Does anyone have any idea, how can I hack the script for this game? Thanks for taking time to read this post.

  10. Hello all, I hope you all are doing alright. As by the title of this post, I am translating all three (KAG3, TJS2, and Kirikiri) sets documentation from Japanese to English. I personally prefer krkr (kirikiri) over Ren'py for a multitude of reasons; however, this post isn't about discussing that. Currently the method of translating I use is essentially utilizing Google Translate, DeepL, and even an AI (proud to say that I figured how to do so myself :D), and choosing the translation I feel to be more "natural", and as a last resort, ask someone else for the translation. So as you can imagine, this method is very much monotonous and very easy to demotivate myself from continuing this project, alongside the fact that halfway I realized the documentation I'm working on is the wrong and obsolete version of the krkr engine (called krkr2) instead of the newer krkrz, so that's a pain :') . And let's not mention the things currently going through in my real life as of now, so.. yeah. So if some of you guys volunteer on providing human translations, corrections, or even give me support for me to continue on this project, I would REALLY appreciate it. Thank you for reading! P.S. the link to the translation project: https://github.com/a-rabin/krkr2doc-en
  11. Hello, I am working on translating a game, but I have been unable to find a tool that can pull the script out of the game itself. The game uses a .pac file format, which doesn't seem to be supported by any of the commonly used tools. I have heard that .pac is an archive format, like .zip, but have been unable to find a tool that can unpackage them, if indeed that is what they are. I've attached a screen grab of the game files in case that helps identifying the format or the engine. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. Let me know if there is any further information needed. Game Files: https://imgur.com/a/kKfTS3H

  13. Hello, first post here I want to try translating a visual novel Honoo no Haramase Oppai Nyuu Doukyuusei ~Oppai mo Haramase! New Class Zen'in Harama-sensation!~ as a hobby project, I'm currently stuck at the point where I need to grab the scene text, I did manage to locate them with Garbro. What tools do I need to extract, edit/translate and export them into the game? I've seen a few post here but the tools and tutorial links are dead, or I didn't look closely enough? Thanks!
  14. I'm looking for people who would teach me the ropes, and help me achive my dream of translating VNs that I love to people outside japan or people who prefer reading VNs in english, without the hassle of using VNR or Textractor
  15. EDIT: I have found a way to interpret the file now the only problem is figuring out how to repack it back to its original form...
  16. Hi guys, I am working on the Spanish translation of psp OREIMO, I am currently fine with the scripts and story images, but I am stuck in one part. It turns out that I cannot find the location of the scripts / images where the "Ore list" is located, since it is not in the same location of the "RES.dat" where everything else mentioned is, if someone could guide me I would appreciate it.
  17. Hey guys, So after seeing how big Tasogare no Sinsemilla is, I decided that it may be better to train in the mountains with much, much shorter VNs first. I want to see if I can tackle Summer Surprise, which runs on the Artemis Engine. I'm able to extract the resources and edit the scripts, but how do I repackage it into the root.pfs.xx archive? I've looked around, and there aren't very many resources for the Artemis Engine, and GARbro doesn't create those archives. Thanks for any help and advice you can provide!
  18. im fairly new to coding and have only ever worked with renpy and the game im wanting to translate uses kirkiri, ive managed to extract the .xp3 file but have no idea where the scripts are/how to edit them. im working alone on this game so i can get better at japanese and coding the game im working on is a horror dojin game called "Kazura Uta", and ive managed to translate the first few lines already can someone please explain how it works?
  19. Trying to unpack a Black Lilith game using xmoe's KrKrextract, when I move the game exe to the program it produces link below error, occurs whether .dll and/or just exe in game folder or not. Uninstalling LE doesn't help. System is set to locale, Unicode box ticked. What to do? 2nd link is unclear on how exactly it was solved.
  20. I was just wondering what's the whole process of starting a localization company. I was intrigued by the idea but searching on the net amounted to nothing. I would be very grateful if someone can explain me the process, especially in details.
  21. Hi there I'm trying to extract files from No, Thank You!!! game. Those files are .ypf files. I succeeded to extract some but, for some reasons, some others don't want to get extracted with arc_conv... And, now, I have many .ybn files and I don't know what to do with them... Can you help me please? I would like to translate this game so hard!
  22. Finally we have HatsuKoi append patch finished here, and it mean that the time for Hoshiori project to begin has come. For the premise itself, we have the MC whose an improvement version of HatsuKoi's Yuuma, and more importantly the MC in question (Ryousuke) was come back to his hometown after seven years had been away from it. Other than Ryousuke himself is the improvement from Yuuma, tone work was also starting their trademark in this VN in which the trademark is their long writing in regard of the development, so obviously we'll gonna have a lot of lines (Around 200,000 lines). Also it's important to note that star will be the major theme in one of the route considering that we have 'Hoshi' in the title (That one route only will be obviously better than the whole localized Miagete, because it'll be uncensored lol), and the whole theme of Hoshiori is the dream for the future (Yume Mirai part) in which it'll depict the characters going forward to their future. Anyway, I'd been looking forward to this and obviously I'll be waiting until the route order announced at Tsurezure later. So feel free to discuss about the project here, although I'll mostly use this thread for reporting the progress though.
  23. Hi. I would like to translate Muv-Luv (Steam version) into my native language (polish). However, I can't get to the game archives. I tried different tools from the web, but they all didn't work with Steam version. Could someone help me get to them? Thanks in advance for help.
  24. I know nothing about game design, coding, programming, it Japanese, but I wanted to try my hand at translating a game to get better at all of the above. My problem is I don't even know where to start. I have the game, and the archive files are right there, but they arent in any format. They're just blank. I have no idea where to even start, if this is even the right place to start. Help? Or just a nudge? Anything is better than the blind fumbling I'm doing now.
