  1. What is Chloe? Chloe is a point and click horror game with puzzle elements. A dark story about family, choice, and consequences. Featuring a non-linear story and exploring family life without secrets. It's based on Y;N, another visual novel styled horror game, taking the point and click elements from it and also partly based on Those without Names as the main character explores her past. "Chloe is trapped in her own home, and what starts out as a way to find a key to get out soon turns sinister as she realises something -or someone- is out to get her. Will she get out safely and find out the mystery? Or will she be consumed by the past? That is up to you."   2. summary Our narrator born in Hawaii meets a young college student who goes to the same school. He was practicing for the 10k marathon until the narrator saw the young girl crying. Her name is Aya, her trouble life is leading her to consider suicide or murder as an alternative to being happy. The story progress to more and more life changing events that happens almost everyday in the real world. I wont reveal how many ends there are but it is multichoice until you reach an ending. The game won't be free (for a good reason) anyone who buys the game will help fund American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the game will be for $2.   3. Project Introduction Hello there. Here is my first ever VN project/ I have been working on a story of mine for about a year and recently decided to get involved seriously about it. I have been working on several parts of the project, being a director, developer, scenarist, writer & game designer at the same time. I like it though.   4. THE NEXUS PROJECT Hello everyone! I checked in with you just a little while as a writer looking for projects to work on. Somehow I stumbled my way into an accomplished programmer and designer named Helvetica Standard who is currently working on the famed OELVN Violet Hill. We got to talking and came up with an idea for a visual novel. A project of sorts. One we believe has a lot of potential. The Nexus Project tells the story of Keiji Nakamura, a childhood prodigy. He learns at an extremely fast rate and his prowess with technology is second to none. But you wouldn’t know that by just looking at him. All he does is sit around on his computer all day, doing nothing. His parents, thinking that he's wasting his potential, transfer him to a prestigious boarding school. Thinking he's finally got some peace and quiet after a stressful move, a cyber terrorist cell codenamed 'The Nexus' begins to attack the people of Japan. Keiji, being one of the only people in the world who knows how to stop them, has to make a choice to either sit there and possibly let his world plunge into darkness or take a stand against this threat and realize his destiny. So far we have two people on the project that will be sticking with it the whole way through. Sammeh: The one and only. I will be the project leader and the head writer for the VN. I am more than willing to hear all ideas when it comes to story as I wish this to be a collaborative project. I have been writing for eleven years and have received numerous awards and have been approached by different publications during that time. Helvetica Standard: The master programmer. He designed the logos for this game and studio that you see in this thread and he will be doing the entirety of the design. He’s currently heading up an OELVN project of his own called Violet Hill and has a lot of experience in the field, having been programming for two years and has been designing the entirety of his working life. Genre: Thriller, mystery, and romance. It takes place mainly in a highschool in the present day. Why did we start this project?: Honestly, I just love visual novels, so I put out a casting call and Helv was the first person to answer seriously. After that I found he was very serious about the project and obviously so am I so we clicked immediately as a team. We want to contribute to the industry as another OELVN that makes its mark. Is it free?: It’s free. While its overall length and the work put into it might indicate otherwise, we will be releasing the project as free. Length/Scope of the Project: The project will be a massive undertaking for this team. We are aiming for a story that will be 35+ hours in length with five routes and a couple bonus routes. The writing for the story is not even close to being final or finished, but this is the plan thus far. What We’re Looking For: Anything, honestly. However, particularly, the one thing we need most of all is an artist. Unfortunately, until we actually have an artist on the project with a decent amount of skill and can make the commitment of working on a VN we can’t really move forward with development.   5. Hi there! It's been a while, I come back with my new project, a visual novel series named (weirdly named) Dragon and Weed: Origins. First of all, please note that English is not my first language, the VN scripts has been translated and we'll hire a professionnal and native proofreader, as soon as we succed our Kickstarter campaign. DWO is based on the original eponymous comics which was released in 2009 and have 77 chapters. It is a three-season series that mixes comedy, epic action and adventure: Season 1: OutBreak Season 2: The Fallen Season 3: Nemesis Faction We are currently working on the first season that is made of 5 volumes (~50 episodes). In this season, Dray and Lushian two young soldier who, having completed the extremely difficult military and spiritual program “Professional Assassins” will join an ancient secret organization. In OutBreak, events mainly take place in the organization training center where the trainee and instructors will have to face the unusual temper of our two protagonists. Features: - 1080p/Full HD Max resolution - Epic Action/ Adventure story - Fully voiced - Full color traditional and animated CGs - Awesome Original Soundtrack - Bonus and Hidden scenes The series will be available first for Windows, in English and French languages. Right now, political entities are trying to keep a fragile peace, the United-Nations of Europe (also called United-States of Europe), the Africa's Joint-Nations Alliance (AJNA) and the Diplomatic Alliance of the Asian Pentagon (DAAP) are the most influential. Characters: Here are the main characters of Season 1's Volume 1 - Alexander 'Dragon' Drayzaai: He is a lazy guy, a pervert and womaniser who enjoys driving the people around him crazy. In addition he has that Chibi personnality that makes him more childish, although he can sometimes be serious. - Lushian 'Weed' Nicolier: Lushian is really clever and professionnal person that can be touched by hardly anything. He's that cool guy who seems to be bored by everyone and who has lost his faith in humanity. Lushian have a limited trust: he would trust his life in a very small circle of friends, Alexander being one of them. - Rose: Former member of a private police force, she's now a lieutenant of the European Army (UNECA) as excellent that she hold a captain position by ruling a whole section. She know Dragon and Weed for a while and have a very conflictual relationship with them. - Amanda Hidejirō: Amanda is a scientist who have been kidnapped by a terrorist group. She's not custom to field work. - Benjamin Denarg: Also know as Colonel Quasar, he's a hi-ranked officer in a shadowy ancestral secret organization. Oh and is as perverted as Dragon. - Mobius: He's a Commando trainee of the Organization, a little too sure of himself. - Lucifer: She's also a Commando trainee of the Organization, cold tempered, she try her best not to kill Dragon. - Theodore Gregson-Mitchell: Lieutenant-General of the UNECA, he's a former intelligence officer of a powerful private army. Cold, merciless and result focused, he's linked to an other secret organization. - Galindo-Gomez: Known for being a sadist, he's the captain of the actual most powerful private army, the Favelas Brothers PMC. CONCEPT: Basically it's your average superhero story on a bigger scale with a couple twists. Throughout the story you will travel to many worlds and even different universes, however the main setting of the school is in a heaven realm known as Valteria. Here exists the Gods called the creators, better known as Valterians -They were created by the Elder Gods and given the power to create worlds. They gave birth hybrids and hallowed(Beings with Valterian blood or ancestors) The school in the story was made for these descendents. There are also various alien races in the across the Omniverse that co-exist on Valteria as well. There is a lot more to it but that will give you a good picture. CHARACTERS: Marcus Chime Maduka (Magnificent) Our lovable protagonist. He's quiet, but becomes rather talkative once you get to know him. He can be sarcastic and pretty cynical, he wants to know his purpose in life. He is given the power to become one of his heroes. Arabella Alexis (Galaxia) Omega class hallowed-Valterian hybrid that has the power to bend reality to her will. Arabella is outwardly cold and apathetic due to her isolation, but can be very caring an nurturing. Very passionate. Arden Saphira Sapere Dragonborne (Life Dragon) Valterian Dragon Deity-She is the King of Valteria. Arden is courageous and determined but can be a little vain. Very unwilling to show emotions. Robyn Khalil (Pace) Hallowed girl that was interested in Marcus at first sight. She's a bit of a tomboy, but calm and easygoing, she rolls with the punches but is quick to point out things she has an issue with. Devin Kallendrake (BloodReaper) Valterian Vampire God that is that is part of a Valterian secret society. She is an ancestor to shinso family of vampires. She acts very whimsical and carefree, but is actually very smart, analytical, and has a serious side. Evelyn Kallendrake (Mischief) Vampire God also part of the secret society, She's the twin sister of Devin but didn't grow as much. Most of the time she is very extroverted, outgoing, and upbeat. However she has no problem instigating problems and deep down is very sadistic. Yoko Minami (Tiamat) Yoko is a mix between two alien races called the Tainted and the Vivians. She is the leader of the student council and works with Arden. Yoko is quiet (when not dealing with Arden) and cold. Somewhat socially awkward when it comes to dealing with people. Struggles with her compulsions to kill.   7. Development of the project of this thread has started. We are the team called Purple Panda. And our project is an OELVN called "Our Healing Hearts". It will be Kinetic-Choice, in that the story of the canon heroine, Anastasia, will be kinetic. Players will be unable to pick choices to alter who the Player character ends up with. However, choices that change how certain things play out, and how Chase develops as a person (excluding most moral traits) will be available. Players will be able to choices from certain hobbies and interests, to whether or not he is nervous about a presentation. We have plans to add more playable routes which will be unlocked upon completion of Anastasia's route. These will include Chase's childhood friend, Lilli, and his manager at work, Amy. Potentially, two more routes will be made by pledgers from Kickstarter. However, assuming that one or both offered slots for this chance are not taken, I will develop two more characters myself. It is a slow going process right now, but we have been actively communicating and working to bring this story to life. Personally, I have been struggling with writer's block, but was able to overcome this for a decent while to write most of the opening sequences. We perceive that development will take several months, but we strive to bring high quality workmanship to you all. Currently, there is very little completed. However, I am confident that this will change quickly. We will be utilizing two different art styles. One for the character sprites (done by Aviala), and one for the CGs (done by deeyosa). Here is an almost complete sprite of the canon heroine: Anastasia. As I said, sprites are being done by Aviala. We have no CG work as of yet, but deeyosa and I have the concept in the works. Below is a very basic draft of the plot and most of the more important characters. Our Healing Hearts Basic Plot One day, Chase Adam walks home from his part time job at the Movie theater, and crosses the local hospital. There, he is smashed into by Anastasia Wells when she is not paying to where she is going in her wheelchair while playing with her fellow patients. When he gets home, Chase can't stop thinking about the pretty girl he met, and he decides to visit her the next day after work and class. This time, she is in her bed, and she welcomes him warmly, though she is somewhat worried that he will berate her for running into him this time. Chase starts visiting her regularly, and taking her places with the permission of her doctor. As time goes on, all sorts of heartwarming, dramatic, and crazy things happen, and their relationship blossoms, and eventually, romantic feelings are formed. Eventually, the two decide to become a couple. After this goes on for a while, Chase decides to propose to Ana, having decided that she is the girl he wants to be with forever. However, after he gets the ring, he gets an urgent call from the hospital that tells him that Ana's health is failing. He visits her, and succeeds in proposing to her. Ana accepts, and shortly after, passes away with happy tears and a smile on her face. Chase stays with her through the night. Unbeknownst to Ana, the old man she had helped was her doctor (she had forgotten all about him by now). Late that night, the doctor comes in to Ana's room, and sees Chase (who is asleep) still holding her cold hands. The Doctor reveals himself to be the old man that Ana had helped. Without waking up Chase, the doctor says “In return for your sincere kindness all those years ago, I grant your wish, Little Lady.” A flash of light springs forth, and the doctor disappears. Chase, who was awoken by the light, rubs his eyes sleepily, wiping dried tears away. It is during this time that he feels a soft hand grace his cheek as a quiet voice speaks his name. He looks up, heart pounding, to see Ana sitting up, smiling at him, alive and well. The “last” episode includes the couple's wedding, and the Epilogue takes place five years later. This shows Chase and Ana's life together. Chase has become a producer like he always wanted (albeit one that hasn't been in charge of his own movie yet, but is well on his way) and Ana has opened her own cafe. The two have a 5 year old daughter, who is seen running around, and stops to hug her parents as they walk together down a path in the park. Characters Male Protagonist: Chase Adams – Chase is a twenty-three year old college student majoring in Filmmaking. His dream is to become a producer of movies that will entertain and bring together all who watch them. He has short black hair that is generally messy, blue eyes, and Caucasian skin. When he was still in highschool, Chase played baseball as part of his school's team. However, falling out of a tall tree when his sister's cat got stuck, Chase injured his leg and can't play baseball regularly anymore. He is capable of jogging and such, but full on sprinting is a no. This plays no effect on his desire for Filmmaking. He had already decided before the injury. He still plays with his friends who are in the College Baseball Team in present days, but he never runs, and only hits the ball, favoring his injured leg. Personality wise, Chase is passionate in his interests, and does his best to overcome his weaknesses. He does whatever he sets his mind to it, but he only truly succeeds if he gives it his all. Half-heartedness does him no favors. When he's not into something, he usually fails unless given an incentive, at which point, he excels beyond belief. His problem is motivation and inspiration. He has a little sister named Emily, and he cares about her like any older brother would. Of course, he often gets annoyed by her shenanigans. Female Protagonist: Anastasia “Ana” Wells – Anastasia is twenty-two years old. She has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis , and is unable to move her legs. However, despite this, Ana remains energetic and optimistic, and a smile is always on her face. Ana has green eyes, light skin, and long, dark brown hair that goes down to her waist in the back, and curls around her neck and shoulders in the front. When outside, she likes to wear lightly colored dresses, and a Summer Hat. When she is playing with her friends in the hospital, she's often zooming around in her wheelchair, a hand on her hat to keep it on her head. Ana's parents died when she was two years old. She only has an old family photo from right before the accdient to remember them by. When she was younger, Ana helped an old man when she was walking home from the park with her mother (who was actually her Aunt). The old man thanks her and asks her “What is your one big wish, Little Lady?” To this, Ana innocently replied, “I want to be like Mommy!” Ana has a spunky personality. She is energetic and optimistic, never down for long, and occasionally goes from sad to happy in a split second, catching those around her off guard. She is very protective towards the younger patients in the hospital, and they call her “Big Sis” even though they're not blood related. Interest-wise, Ana enjoys cooking and baking, as well as art crafts. Eventually, she wants to own a small cafe that is decorated with things she made herself. (Legend: MP = Male Protagonist/FP= Female Protagonist) MP's Little Sister: Ella Adams – Ella is seventeen years old and a junior in high school. She has long dirty blonde hair that she usually wears in a bushy ponytail. She adores her older brother, but loves to play pranks on him and make him the subject of many misunderstandings. She has something of a two-sided personality because she is the Student Body Vice President at her school and, as a result, acts very serious and strict when on the school grounds or whenever someone from her school is around. Eventually, she gets found out by a fellow student, and struggles to come to turns that no one minds if she acts how she really is. It takes some time, but she ends up becoming comfortable with this, and has more fun at school because of not having to pretend she's “proper and boring” anymore. Once she learns who Anastasia is, she often pressures Chase into “going for it” in terms of romance. She really wants to see her brother succeed in romance, although she often makes fun of him for it. MP's Mother: Teresa Adams – Teresa is forty-three years old, but looks like she's half her age. She jokes that her looks are thanks to her family and joyful personality. She has shoulder length black hair with occasional streaks of gray that don't really make her look aged. Like any mother, Teresa is happy when she sees that her children are happy. She loves to tease Chase about his romantic endeavors, often jokingly pressuring him to get a move on finding a girl to “give mama grand kids!” Teresa works as a real estate agent and set Chase up with his apartment, saying that he could live there with minimal rent if he helped keep it in good condition. Teresa is pretty care-free, and while she does worry about Ella and Chase, she is well aware that they're old enough to make their own choices and supports them in anything they want to do. MP's Father: James “JimJim” Adams – James is forty-four years old, and has substantially more gray in his short dirty blond hair than his wife, Teresa does. James is a Robotics Technician, helping companies modernize their technology. He likes to watch baseball and was very depressed when Chase got into the accident that prevented him from playing the sport anymore. However, James got over it, and decided to assist Chase in the Filmmaking field, often giving strange advice that causes Chase to question his reasoning for asking his father for advice on a regular basis. Gruff, yet good-hearted, James has a hard time showing his true feelings, often pulling a very manly “Tsundere” behavior. He shows his love to his family through actions, rather than words. FP's Aunt: Julia Fields – Anastasia's aunt and legal guardian since Ana's parents are both deceased after a car accident when Ana was very young. Ana considers Julia her mother because she doesn't remember her real parents, though she loves them very much. Julia has curly shoulder-length dark read hair, and is a fairly rich woman, although her lifestyle doesn't show it. She owns a landscaping company that is in high demand amongst wealthy clients. However, she is quite humble with her wealth, and didn't squander it on a mansion or wait-staff. After meeting Chase for the first time, Julia was very hesitant and distrustful of his intentions, going as far as to threaten him with a scary look and tone in her eyes and voice. However, seeing how happy Chase's visits make Anastasia, Julia warms up to him. Julia is quite flirtatious and often teases Chase (some time after he starts visiting Ana in the hospital) in strange ways. For example, she likes to say that she'll steal him from Ana so he can keep her [Julia] company instead. MP's Best Friend: Lilli Jayce – Lilli is twenty-three years old, and only two weeks younger than Chase. Chase's family was always neighbor to Lilli and her family as the two grew up. They became quick friends in their earliest years, and grew up as if they were siblings, almost never being apart from one another. Lilli has violet eyes and shiny silver hair that goes halfway down her back. Lilli generally wears her hair in a thick braid, and decorates it with a different flower every day. Lilli has Aspergers Syndrome. As a result, she is very shy around people other than Chase, his family, and her family. She is also a bit of a savant when it comes to painting. Her paintings are quite popular, but, due to her shyness, no one knows who the artist behind the pictures are, as Lilli uses a “Pen Name” and never shows up personally in her gallery showings. Whilst Lilli didn't think she had any romantic feelings for Chase as they grew up, she comes to realize that she loves him as more than a friend/brother figure once she starts thinking that Anastasia will steal him away from her [Lilli]. Of course, this doesn't come about until Chase and Anastasia develop feelings for each other and make them known. ------------------------------------

We like to call it "a visual novel on crack" (You can see that we're not very good with words - probably why we need a writer). Our goal is to make a visual novel that demonstrates the capabilities of the medium to a mainstream audience, while remaining relevant to existing fans of the genre. Examples of some of the elements we are exploring: Player agency and its role in dictating narrative pacing and content Usage of textual and visual assets in complementary ways Page/link system ala Twine Kinetic typography Experimental rendering systems to simulate 2d "hand-drawn" animations Exploration of space as a narrative device While it's still too early to spill the beans on all the stuff we have planned (nCart rendering system I'm looking at you), suffice to say we have a lot of exciting stuff coming - all of which you can follow throughout the coming months on this blog. Our studio: Title pending The team behind it all. In the latter half of 2014, a group of nerds got together and asked themselves the question: why haven't visual novels grown as a medium since its 2000s heydays? Compared to other "niche" genres such as voxel games, rogue-likes and simulators, the genre hasn't seemed to have progressed as much, and still remains a budding industry in the West. While we salute the folks at Dischan Media, Freebird Games, and Sekai Project - examples of companies that have made great strides in furthering the genre - we remain deeply dissatisfied at the state of the medium, for we know that it's true potential has barely been touched. So we decided to do it ourselves, and that is how Project Ven came to be. Overtime, we have formulated the following Manifesto: Expand and evolve Visual Novels as a medium for a universal audience. Explore new ways in which Visual Novels can be used as a story-telling medium. Raise the quality bar for Visual Novels not only in the West, but worldwide. I hope it doesn't sound too presumptious - but we really want to (like Fuwas' tagline) "Make Visual Novels Popular in the West". We need a Writer! We have the technical know-how. We have the visuals down-pat. We have the programmer, the designer, the artist, the animator…but we're still missing one crucial element - the writer. This is why we have created this "tech demo": not only to show what we want to do, but to show what we can do - the capabilities of the team and the quality we are aiming for. So if you're a writer interested in creating a high-quality, "next-gen" visual novel, please apply! What we are looking for: Fast and loose writing: Due to the nature of our game, you will be expected to create a large number of text assets - however, you will also be given a large amount of creative freedom in what you write: as can be seen in our demo, we have anything from poems, jokes, anecdotes, screenplays, to recipes. Collaboration: As fellow creatives we understand the pain of having to compromise your vision. That being said, a few of us on the team are also quite keen on the world-building and character design aspects of the game, so be ready for some collaboration! That being said, for our project the story trumps all, so don't be afraid of having to compromise due to artistic or technical constraints - it will be our job to match the story. Volume: We must once again stress the importance of speed: specifically, we're looking at around 180 pages of work (100 pages for the main script, 80 for all the side stories/objects) in 4 months, leaving 2 months for polish/QA. Setting Though the plot and setting of the game has not yet been finalized, we are currently leaning towards magic realism as the genre. We are also steering away from romance; this is due to a variety of reasons, but mainly due to oversaturation from existing works. Scope We wish to start off by testing the grounds with a smaller project: our goal is to release a ~1 hour long novelette within 6 months. The system and pipeline has already been set up for easy integration with text assets - the bulk of the work will not be integration but creation and editing. By aiming for a smaller release we can also focus on quality of execution and polish. The fast release will also let us know on how to progress with the eventual "larger" game, depending on how the initial release goes. Finances We are working with a revenue share model. (Most of us are just students or recent graduates). That being said, we plan to apply for various funding bodies such as the Indiefund & Film Victoria - if any funding is successful, all members of the team will immediately get a share of the funding.   11. The Story Journey Against Ouva is centered around Iris, an intern at the Global Disease Control Center (GDCC) who wakes up with fuzzy memories of herself and her surroundings. She feels a strong sense of purpose to join a medical response mission, but has no idea why. To top it off, mysterious sabotage cases have been happening in GDCC, causing unrest within the organisation. One of her team members is suspected to be the saboteur, and she has the option to investigate this matter. Will she discover the identity of the saboteur?   12. PRESENTS Noel has never had an easy or normal childhood. Since he was small, he's had two monsters coming out of his closet to scare him... or, it was so at first. Turns out, monsters can be lonely too, and all the cheerful Sidney and the ever-serious Simon wanted was some company. After years of an unusual but happy friendship though, Sidney started to see Noel in a different light, and that complicates things. The redhead monster can't take no for an answer. Sidney is insistent, Noel is unwilling, and Simon is, for some reason, set on not letting it happen. Add to this romantic comedic plot the tragedy that befalls them when Sam, Noel's little sister, disappears in mysterious circumstances, and you've got the plot of Charming Monster. ------------- Started first as a webcomic, after I, thooruchan, got started on working with videogames, I decided that it was the kidn of story that would work perfectly as a Visual Novel. Right now I work with my sister on a demo. We have the plot written, characters designed, the GUI is implemented and functioning, and progress is going smoothly. Our plan is to release a demo in the second week of January, free to play, to gain awareness. Once it has gained enough of a fanbase, a small crowdfunding campaign would start to gain enough funding for development of the rest of the game. ------------- UPDATE 5: Hey there guys! There is not a lot to explain this week, though hopefully now that the holidays are finally over here in Spain we'll be able to get back to work. Sidney's srpites are half done, so I guess overall, 15% of the sprites are done. Backgrounds are also progressing, slow but steady. We are being forced to work a bit more slowly than we had planned due to other jobs coming our way (the kind that pays bills and cannot be rejected ) but we are still doing our best to have the CharMon demo out as soon as possible ----------- UPDATE 4: Happy New Year! Hope you are all starting 2015 with a lot of energy! Here at DrawOrDrop sure did, and we started it with a streaming session, though due to technical and time problems, it could only hold for about an hour U__U (I need a new laptop after all). Despite that, it wasn't for nothing, and a few cool designs for Noel came out! Thanks to everyone who voted for Noel's design! After a really close call, winning by just ONE vote, the bottom one was picked as Noel's design. Hope you'll all like him! ---------- UPDATE 3: Due to my laptop needing a factory restore, development has been slowed down a bit.
