  1. GET OUR DEMO RIGHT HERE! After a long year of treatment without any positive results, Yuuki asks for his final wish: to return to his hometown and fulfill his promise to meet again with his childhood friend, Saki Nishimura. However, as always, things are hard for him. Saki no longer lives where she used to, and no one knows her whereabouts. The last hint Yuuki got was from the high school Saki had said she wanted to attend—Shimizu High School. Together with his adopted little sister, Mary, and his new tomboyish neighbor, Chihiro, Yuuki keeps searching for the girl, only to meet Asuka Fujimoto, the most popular girl at school, who happens to look like Saki. 2. NOW LIVE ON KICKSTARTER: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/borokaistudio/omega-pattern-visual-novel OMEGA PATTERN The content of this post is available in Spanish on http://www.patronomega.com/es/kickstarter/kickstarter-patron-omega/ KICKSTARTER VIDEO FIRST PART The Omega Pattern's first part and free demo are already available on Steam (it has been Greenlit by the Community), Itch.io, Google Play and the App Store: http://www.patronomega.com/en/#download ANALYSES Cubed3 (7/10): "Omega Pattern HD is delightful, interesting, and above all else, worth the price of admission... It's going to be a lot of fun to see how this story progresses as the future episodes come out, as Shaiel's story is definitely going to feel unique amongst the many other entries in this genre." GameRamble (7,7/10): “The story is genuinely intriguing and the choices you get to make actually impacts the story, which is a nice touch... The soundtrack is really solid... Fans of the genre who don’t mind trading in length for replay value should definitely try out Omega Pattern.” Softpedia: “A very promising visual novel... Play your part in a strange world controlled by a powerful corporation and make the desired choices to steer the plot... Fight against an evil organization bent on ruling the world... Nice artwork and many choices to be made.” CGR (7,75/10): "At this current point, Omega Pattern is already a great title and it has me awaiting what comes next for my multiple versions of Shaiel and the decisions that have affected the men that he has become." WHAT MAKE IT DIFFERENT? Omega Pattern seeks to offer a more personal and deeper experience in the visual novel genre. In Omega Pattern, we ‘reinvent’ the visual novel concept by giving you the opportunity to choose the main character’s personality in a prologue where you will recall his past. Every personality defines a character with his own storyline which will change as you advance on the story and keep making decisions. The results will depend on the consistency of the character and the impact that your decisions have in the world. In addition to this, the narrative style is different from other visual novels, letting you get into the main character’s head instead of being a mere spectator. We avoid the use of tedious descriptions to explain what’s happening and make use of the main character’s reactions and thoughts to make the scenes more realistic. For example, we prefer to use ‘Shit, my jaw!’ instead of ‘He punches me on the chin’.” GAMEPLAY Omega Pattern is a Visual Novel which offers a variable multiple-choice decision system. This means that both the number of decision points and the number of choices or options that you will find in those decision points may vary according to your previous decisions during the game. SYNOPSIS The world where the Omega Pattern story happens is seemingly normal, similar to the one we live in. However, genetics and fate mean that a few individuals are born with a kind of Pattern or special brain signal which lets them develop unique and varied psychic skills that are determined by their life experiences, which form their behavior and character. From the shadows, an organization known as Bioagora controls the world according to its own interests thanks to the power and influences that they get, in part, from their Agents. These Agents are people who own the Pattern and have been coerced, bought, forced and even captured against their will to be brainwashed and indoctrinated, so they can faithfully serve the Bioagora. Shaiel (21 years old), a man who possesses the Pattern, has found himself forced to live in secrecy in order to avoid falling into the hands of the Bioagora. However, as time passes, it gets more difficult to escape from a power which is increasing exponentially. Seeking for allies has become an unavoidable, and it seems that the only alternative available are the Celtas; a small and poorly organized group with unorthodox methods, whose plan to face the Agents and restoring an order different to the Bioagora’s seems near impossible. As the rest of the population stay impassive in a gray world, Shaiel will have Shaiel to play his cards right and find out the truth hidden by the Bioagora, the Celtas and himself. FEATURES Become the Main Character: Decide what to do in the most relevant moments of Shaiel’s past. This will determine his current personality and therefore his psychic abilities and the decisions that you will be able to take in the future. 3 Story Lines: Access to 3 significantly different story lines, which means that you will have a high replay experience where you will find suspense, action, drama, comedy, horror and romance. +6 Hours: The variable multiple-choice decision system that we have implemented for the first part of the visual novel can grant you up to 6 hours of gameplay or more. Mobile Optimized: You will enjoy the same experience both in the Desktop (PC and Mac), Mobile and iPad versions. Full HD: 2048×1536 resolution for iPad users and 1920×1080 for Desktop and Mobile users. Manga Anime Style: 100% original illustrated material. Original Soundtrack: An OST that creates the perfect atmosphere in every situation. GALLERY CG Event Gameplay Decision Game Menu Main Menu Settings ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK Game Rumble: "...A really good soundtrack. None of the thirteen songs featured on the soundtrack sound like your typical visual novel fare and they all complement the mood of the game nicely. From sinister tracks like “Gurdjief Lessons” and “Death Valley” to melancholic ones like “In Memory Of” and whimsical ones like “Kids,” the songs are all really good..." Listen to the OST! THE FINAL PART: WHY KICKSTARTER? This Kickstarter campaign expects to get funding for the big final part of the visual novel. Borokai Studio is an indie group and Omega Pattern is his first indie visual novel. Besides being indie, Omega Pattern intends to be a very long visual novel (+40 hours). It’s impossible to afford this kind of project by an indie group without economic support, and here’s where the first part of Omega Pattern appears. We covered the first part expenses and released it without Kickstarter, Patreon or any kind of crowdfunding campaign because we wanted to show you the main concept of Omega Pattern (a visual novel where you define the main character’s personality and Pattern) before using this kind of resources. Omega Pattern is not an episodic visual novel. Our current intention is to release DLCs and bundles with the full Beast, King and Astral routes. The decisions you make in the first part give you access to these routes, but they won’t affect their course. This means that you don’t have to replay the first part again when we release the routes DLCs. The decision system that we’ll use for the routes won’t allow us to separate them into more parts since we want that every decision you make can cause an impact on the story as it advances as well as in the endings. Every route will be different and we’d like to give them an estimated duration of 12 hours or more. But don't worry, if we don't manage to fund the final part in this campaign, we will divide the final part into several DLCs depending on the amount pledged by the bakers and we will relaunch a new Kickstarter campaign with a lower goal in order to release the next Omega Pattern's DLC. COST BREAKDOWN Art (35%): Over 85 CGs, 85 BGs, 8 new major characters and several minor characters. We could decrease the number of BGs and increase the number of CGs. 3. Turmoil of the Seven is live on Kickstarter now! Please check it out and play the demo if you're interested! Link to the demo: https://files.fm/u/x7gtdtye In the distant future, humanity embraces the end of the Crusade of Man an intergalactic war that left the entire galaxy unbalanced. The most weakest population, the humans, have now became the most powerful and dominant race in the galaxy. Xenophobia for many humans is a thing of the past, but now as a new era is ushered in, this encourages much nationalism and free thinking for many humans. The Alliance of Free Systems which is the most powerful nation out of the now emerging seven, no longer has its firm grasp on the universe. For many, it was perhaps the end of the Crusade of Man that caused humanity to split, but for others it was during the conflict that instigated a division of humanity. As this new era of revolutions and ideologies dawns, what are the chances of the full unification of humanity like in the past? Or perhaps humanity will be chastised by the other races of the galaxy, once the humans finish fighting among each other? Here are the main characters of the story: For more information on the characters and factions please check out the Kickstarter! Thank you all for taking time to view this post! I tried to make this post short and simple for everyone to read.
  4. Hello everyone. I have just updated my kickstarter campaign by adding a link to the demo (just the first few scenes). Please be aware that the music is just a temp track for the moment. Thank you for your patience. I hope you find it of interest. If there are any issues please let me know. I'll try to fix it as soon as possible. Thank you again. Joel Portillo Yelth+Zhana (Prologue: Dawn of Descent) KS yelthzhana01.zip Deep within the jungles of Mesoamerica, sometime after the Spanish Conquistadors established a foothold in the New World, a young man bent on vengeance accidentally calls down an evil as old as the universe itself. The consequences are not his alone to bear. Gameplay Yelth + Zhana is a visual novel. Similar to the adventure books of the 70s and 80s, the player is given an opportunity to interact with the story by choosing a path for the protagonist to follow. The path can lead to a "good", "bad" or "neutral" ending. Depending on the ending, the story may or may not continue onward. The ultimate goal for any player and completest is to discover all the endings. Game Art

  8. Hello! My name's Luther, I'm the game designer on a new game that combines elements of Visual Novels and Roguelikes called 'Ambition: Minuet in Power'. We launched on Kickstarter a few weeks ago and we're already 71% funded. In Ambition, you play at Yvette, a woman of fashion in France right before the revolution. Yvette wants power, wealth and love, by any means necessary. Attend parties, charm guests, seduce powerful people and snub your enemies. However, the revolution is approaching and you must be careful, in order to survive, you'll need to end up on the winning side of history. Some random thoughts about the game: Every playthrough is different! Characters that appear in one playthrough may not appear in another. History is a mystery! The revolution might win this time, or it might not, carefully observe political events and adapt as they unfold, in order to avoid the guillotine. Revolutionary fashion! All the outfits worn in the game are based on actual paintings and fashion plates from the period. Strut like a queen, or march like a Jacobin! Both male and female romance options will be available (hence the GxB&G tag). The game won't be fully voice acted (way too expensive), but we'd like to have voice overs for some of the main story points. Thanks for reading! If any of this sounds cool to you, please check out our Kickstarter and our hi-res story trailer.
  9. Hello everyone! Our two-person team at Woodsy Studio is excited to officially announce Echoes of the Fey - Episode 2: The Last Sacrament. It's actually pretty far along in production right now (about 75% complete), but we're running a Kickstarter to help us to the finish line and fund all of the features we want to implement (such as more CGs and voice acting). The Echoes of the Fey series mixes a high fantasy setting with the mysteries and conspiracies of pulp detective fiction. Play as Sofya Rykov, a private investigator with a secret of her own: she is the only Human able to wield unlimited magic. Her country of Oraz is recovering from a 30-year war between Humans and Leshin (elves) over the use of Fey energy, so her unstable magic is best kept secret. Sofya herself is an unusual protagonist. For starters, we gave her personality traits typically given to the male leads of hard-boiled mystery tales. She sports a sassy, optimistic attitude that laughs in the face of danger, but this is a cover for the fear and helplessness underneath. As a result she sleeps around, drinks heavily, and knows she could die at any moment from the strange magic trapped inside of her. In The Last Sacrament, Sofya’s childhood love and the Emperor’s daughter, Katerina, seeks her protection from threats near the border. Meanwhile Katerina’s rival, Nikolai, needs a dangerous drug stolen from the powerful Krovakyn Church and uses blackmails to force Sofya’s assistance. Nikolai wants a dose of the Sacrament, a mysterious substance from the Krovakyn Church that can cure illnesses and extend lifespans. But repeated use of the Sacrament causes strange side effects, such as hallucinations and physical deformities. Nikolai wants to give the Sacrament to his grandmother, who has already received the maximum dosage allowed. It’s up to you, the player, to solve each case and determine its outcome. Can you track down Katerina’s enemy? And if you manage to steal the Sacrament, what will you choose to do with it? You also have several romance options in The Last Sacrament. If you proceed carefully, you can develop a romantic relationship with Katerina, Arkady, Nikolai, or Heremon. Most of The Last Sacrament consists of traditional VN scenes with choices to direct the story. You can also roam the town of Vodotsk freely as a side-scrolling environment, which opens up side quests and optional investigation opportunities. But the most experimental aspect of Echoes of the Fey: The Last Sacrament is a complex mini-game called RiftRealms. This is a tabletop game that exists in the world of Echoes of the Fey, and as Sofya you can play with other characters. We thought this would be an interesting way to showcase each character’s personality based on how they treat you as a Dungeon master. It also explores the question: what do people fantasize about in a fantasy world? What I'd love to hear from you: 1) Feedback about RiftRealms Via the download-able demo, you can see the first few scenes of the game and try RiftRealms for yourself! We'd love to hear what people think of the mini-game and whether you feel it will be an enjoyable addition to the narrative experience. If you have any other specific feedback about the game right now we'd love to hear that, too 2) Feedback regarding technical game performance Due to the fact that we're building this game in Unreal Engine 4 and implementing some fancy 3D environments, we realize that playing the game will require a better graphics card and CPU than most visual novels. You can set the Overall Visual Quality to LOW in the Options menu if you have a lower-end computer. Either way, we'd love to get a general feel for how the game performs for the average player. PROGRESS The Kickstarter sadly wasn't funded, but we promised that we would stay hard-at-work on the game and ensure it released, though perhaps without all the features we hoped to fund. We anticipated an early 2018 release date, but the unsuccessful campaign and a Steam release of our latest game, miraclr: Divine Dating Sim put us a few months behind schedule. A few months later, we're excited to be ready to give an update on The Last Sacrament. The script is finished and 95% coded into the game. Almost all the art assets are complete and incorporated into the project. The soundtrack is complete except for a couple of remixes that we hope will be a fun surprise for our players. What's left to complete? First off, the remaining portions of the script we've yet to implement in the game. That last five percent is chronologically near the end of the game and (as a result) has more branches/possibilities than most scenes. Second, we're hoping to implement a dynamic version of RiftRealms, the RPG mini-game, so that if players enjoy it they can experience it at any time, not just when the story allows. Finally, the not-insignificant testing and optimization phase, where we'll iron out every bug we can find over the final stretch. So, when will you be able to play The Last Sacrament? As long as there aren't any more unexpected delays, we're aiming for a late May or June release on Steam/itch.io for Windows PCs. Console versions will likely be later this year. Thanks to everyone who signed up to back the project last year. We're looking forward to finally making the game available to you and everyone else!

  12. Hello, we are Broken Hammer Games. Our current project in development is: All is Fair in Dust and Air. VNdb: https://vndb.org/v21699 We are originally a fan team, turned indie developer who has a contract with Muse Games, the creators of Guns of Icarus. Our VN is based on the Guns of Icarus world. A steampunk/dieselpunk kind of world where airships are the main method of travel. Our story currently spans every nation faction within the world of Guns of Icarus and is expected to clock in past 700,000 word count. Being based within the world of Guns of Icarus, Dust and Air attempts to tell a story based on the pieces of lore that Muse has created. Their world lore is very open and vague, giving us plenty of room to flesh it out with this story. Our story is not canon, but it is within the realm of possibility and Muse could certainly choose to make some of it canon later. For more details you can check out our website: https://www.brokenhammergames.com or visit our IndieGoGo page: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/all-is-fair-in-dust-and-air-visual-novel-anime/x/16780722#/ Our current progress is we are in active development on our initial neutral arc story. Between 40-50%. There is an alpha demo up here which offers the first day of that story: https://www.brokenhammergames.com/demo-download The story arcs are all finished in at least draft format. Edit passes are taking place in prep for production. Recruitment is open but we are looking only for serious people who are interested in long term commitments with the project. Most of us work day jobs or have college so we're understanding about limitations for workloads. But more than that, we seek people who will mesh well with our current team. Art styles/writing styles/etc. We want this project to be as much your project as it is ours. You can drop us a line at [email protected] . Most recruitment decisions will take place on conclusion of our IndieGoGo campaign. Thanks! SCREENSHOTS!
  13. (full video trailer coming soon) Download the free demo and delve straight into the adventure...! Kickstarter: Coming Soon! Capital punishment hasn't occurred in the United Kingdom since 1964, but, on the 15th March 2019, a colossal domestic terrorist attack on the state's most prestigious law school leaves the criminal legal system in chaos. With thousands of deaths, survivor Storm Sente, a mere 20-year-old law student, finds himself called to the bar to fulfil his premature duty. But as the so-called People's Movement for the Revival of Capital Punishment grows into an ever-larger, ever-present threat, the bar is by no means a safe place to be. With even the long-standing local police corruption rearing its ugly head, there's more to fight against than the cases themselves as friends become almost indistinguishable from enemies – the very future of law and order hangs in the balance, from forces both inside and out. Join Storm and investigate crime scenes, defend clients in court, achieve justice for the innocent and – with a bit of luck – uncover the truth of the fateful terrorist attack and the sprawling cult behind it. Acquittal: Induction™, the first instalment in a planned series, was born from inspiration from Capcom's Ace Attorney series and is in many ways a homage. Alternating between the investigation of criminal cases at the crime scene and the defence of clients in heated courtroom trials, it inherits its basic mechanics from the classic visual novel series, while taking and running with those core concepts. The game draws more inspiration from both British courtroom dramas and real-life cases, also adapting the genre to a format more befitting the PC/Steam platform, featuring updated, stylish graphics and new Sherlockian game mechanics (such as Testimony Analysis, Brainstorming and Concatenation) in the way of divergent thinking. These new game modes allow for logic and puzzle-solving like never seen before, moving from pointing out simple contradictions in testimonies to deducing complex facts and theories in order to fight your case and uncover the truth. Featuring a distinctive style, innovative gameplay mechanics and an epic story with a colourful cast of characters to match, Acquittal: Induction is comprised of five episodes, each longer and more challenging than the last. The 1st of these (The First Daybreak) is available to be sampled in the demo. The subsequent episodes will be released incrementally (as free updates included in the purchase) as development completes with funding. This law-drama adventure game will be available for PC, Mac and Linux, to be released on Steam. The first episode of Acquittal: Induction has been completed, of which the entire first half is available for free to download as the demo. With further funding, the remaining four episodes will be completed in turn and released incrementally, as updates to the original game. Releasing episodes in this pseudo-agile way ensures security for the project, allowing players to be able to download and start playing content as soon as it's ready, rather than waiting a potentially painfully long time until the entirety of the game is completed. In addition, we'll be launching on Steam in order to get the game released on one of the best and most powerful distribution platforms around, supporting cloud save services, achievements, and much more! Though produced, developed, programmed and written by Procella Games, a great number of hugely talented people have already contributed to the various elements going into the game: Composers |Caleb Cuzner · Sherrick Wiegel Arranger |Ryuno VFX artist |Lazcht (Stellar-Ø) Sound designer |Clea Leshlick (Stellar-Ø) Character artist |Daphne Robinson Character animator |David Fuentes Background/incidental artists |Badriel · Julian Seifert GUI/logo designer |Juan Mojica Videographer |WhiteCharisma Prototype concept artist |Nicole Aniceto Prototype character artist |Karl Rillera Prototype background/animation artist |Alexis Rillera Prototype GUI designer |Angel Wareman Not to mention the wide range of voice talent: Storm Sente |Austin Lee Matthews Sebastian Donovan |David J. Dixon Lizzy Harrison |Kira Buckland Charlie Lawrence |Corey Holland Howard Silberling |Joshua Tomar Terri Wonder |Kristyn Mass The graphical interfaces and sound design for the entire game have already been fully completed. The original soundtrack has been fully composed (available physically as a reward tier...!), while the tracks for the first episode have been fully mastered - funding will also complete mastering for the rest. Here's a sample of the orchestral/electronic soundtrack as composed by Caleb Cuzner/Sherrick Wiegel and arranged by Ryuno. Acquittal: Induction's sleek GUI was designed by Juan Mojica, allowing for streamlined organisation of collected evidence and personnel profiles, with the dynamic screen animations and stylish divergent thinking interfaces being designed by Lazcht of Stellar-Ø. As such, the majority of funding for the remainder of the game will go into producing more of the vibrant character designs and animations and stunning backgrounds. The backgrounds for the courtroom were designed based on real British Crown Courts, expertly brought to life by Badriel, with the colourful cast of characters vividly designed and realised by Daphne Robinson and fluently animated by David Fuentes. - - - - - I've always been interested in English criminal law, and have toyed around with the idea of bringing the magnificent British courtroom dramas into a collaboration with one of my favourite game series, Ace Attorney. I hope fans of Phoenix Wright, Britain, criminal law, visual novels and PC gaming can all come together and hopefully enjoy this exciting project! Please do check out the demo, share your feedback and comments, follow us on social media and help share with others! In particular, liking us on Facebook and/or following us on Twitter is by far the best way to stay up-to-date with all the incoming news.

  16. Summary: One day, the face of the Earth was changed permanently when it came into contact with a mysterious force known as the “Alpha Nebula”. With it, humans developed various unexplainable abilities, and divided themselves based on those traits. The main factions include: The Tonitrui, the Excedente, the Praecantator, the Permuto, and the Northmanni. All have their own set of unique abilities that came with infamous Alpha Nebula collision, with the exception of the Northmanni who remain largely unchanged. Among these races however, existed a special group of people who managed to retain all the other race’s abilities. They were a very powerful, but small isolated group of people, called “emulators”. Arin Arlento was one of these people, living in a remote village with his grandfather and other emulators. All was going peacefully, until it was attacked by the Northmanni empire, who slaughtered his entire race and kidnapped his childhood friend, Aria. Being the only other survivor, Arin escaped into the Northmanni empire, hiding and plotting his revenge. That is until finding out that Aria is still alive, and is being experimented on by the Northmanni. Resentful of the world that took everything away from him, Arin begins his quest to retrieve his friend, and exact retribution on those who destroyed all that he held dear. It’s one misguided man against the world. Genres:[action, adventure, superpower, psychological, romance, war.] The GUI, done by Trey Fletcher; Structure: the story would be mostly linear as the choices mostly appear during battle and have their instant bad ends attached to it. The common route before each branching point is not very long as it serves to introduce the heroine who you would be branching into. It has an enforced playing order of Alacria->Aniam. Once the reader branches into the four other heroines the main story ends there and it focuses on the specific problems of the heroine. Due to various issues, Episicava would be released in 3 separate volumes as opposed to one whole. Setting: one of the main features of this story is that it is adventure styled. The protagonist and his posse of troubled combat capable girls move about on the various continents to seek new shelter. Each continent represents an ethnicity or fault of human nature. Northmanni- Modern day society. Styled after Japan and America. Fulgur- represents humanity’s scientific progression and the harm it causes. Tribus- represents African tribalism and the cultural implications it puts on its people. Progress: story- 1) prologue- 100% (will be used for demo) 2)part 1- { common route 100%, Alacria's route 70%} 3)part 2- {common route 100%, Aniam's route 70%} art- 1) sprites - 85% 2) bgs - 100% 3) cgs - 95% 4) GUI- 100% 5) Character designs- 100% music- 100% programming - 75% Team; Kotario (me) - Lead dev and main writer Snailmusk - Assistant dev and secondary writer Tristan Hallihan (Cipher) - Secondary writer Tim Reichert - Composer Nathan Cleary - Composer/Sound designer Leo Flores - Concept artist and character design Zhao - Main Character Artist and character design Hanh Chu - Secondary Character Artist Kertasu - Secondary Character artist Alais Legrand - Backgrounds Artist Joe "Bonesy" - Programmer/Marketer/PR Valhalla - Graphic Designer miscellaneous Please show your support for the Episicava visual novel by becoming a patron! thank you! https://www.patreon.com/user?u=3731847 check out our website at : http://epicworksnovels.com Some of our recently done CGS: Some of the backgrounds done by Alais Legrand; Thanks!

For complete information check out in our IndieGoGo! >>> https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/nusantara-bermuda-triangle-visual-novel-adventure-fantasy/x/16687918#/ Genre: Otome Fantasy, Adventure, Romance, Comedy, Mystery WARNINGS: swearing, blood, death, psychological, and a little gore Rating: 16+ In 20XX, an enormous earthquake shook the world and caused a triangular crater to suddenly appear in the middle of Bermuda Triangle. The world was aghast with this discovery; even more so when scout teams discovered an ‘invisible wall’ around it, preventing further investigation. As if it wasn’t enough, spiritual events also increased all over the world after this phenomenon occurred. Our heroine, Maya (19), was a young adult who was busy earning her living so this kind of event was of little importance aside from adding an exciting spice into her life. But then her world crumbled when a Goddess came and announced that her family would die in a car accident in the near future. The Goddess offered Maya a deal: She would alter her family’s fate in exchange for closing the Bermuda Crater. To do that, Maya would have to go to a place called Forgotten Isles, find what caused it, and look for a solution. If she agreed, three men will accompany her, acting as bodyguards. Apparently, they each have their own circumstances and a wish to be granted. Characters: Here's our rename-able Heroine -And many more! x'D Background & GUI Samples: Game Info: Hi! I really didn't expect myself to jump head first into becoming a visual novel developer since I didn't know a thing about programming 3 years ago, but who knew! 20. Book of Zhu: Legacy is a visual novel starring Aya, princess, martial artist, and future empress of the Zhu empire, who will find herself faced with the reality of what the future holds for her. The world depicted in-game is inspired by Wuxia films, as well as anime such as Fist of the North Star, Kenichi, and Katanagatari, and is being painstakingly brought to life by my team and I for this Visual Novel and beyond. Over the course of the game you will experience firsthand the upper class of society within the country of Zhu, glimpses of the larger world, and of course many martial arts battles. The game will follow a central storyline focusing on Aya and how her life starts to change over the course of about a year, with differing choices available that change the details presented during the story and what aspects of the world come into focus. In addition to the central storyline there are several side paths focusing on specific characters that are mostly determined by who you spend the most time with and whose story you progress the most during the early parts of the game, though some alternate versions of paths are triggered by hidden flags and events. Some of these will be romantic in focus, but others will allow you to see different sides of various characters, experience different aspects of the world, as well as different fight sequences. The game will also be free. Aya: The protagonist, heiress to both the Imperial Throne and her family's martial arts style. She is a girl eager to prove herself as both a future leader and a fighter to her mother, the Empress. Rin: Aya's cousin and a fellow princess. She is renowned for both her beauty and talent in the magical arts. She doesn't take her position seriously and prefers to indulge in pleasure instead of studying or training. Rani: Aya's loyal bodyguard and best friend. Despite living in the palace she has a reputation as a thug and spends a lot of her free time dealing with low-lifes and delinquents. Dokura : Rani’s mother, loyal retainer for the Imperial family, and one of the Empire's most respected warriors. She is seen by Aya as an aunt of sorts, someone always looking out for her that she can turn to. The Empress: Aya's mother and the absolute ruler of their people. She is loved as a living representation of Zhu tradition and feared for the swift and harsh retribution that tradition demands. For better or worse every action she makes is part of a legacy she will leave behind for Aya someday. There are many more characters than just those, so expect more soon. Lekkuen (me): Head Designer/Head Writer - The creator of the setting and main creative voice behind the project. Mahenbu: Lead Artist - An artist who has worked on several games and other projects. He draws the character sprites and the fight sequence, and dictates the overall art style. http://mahenbu.deviantart.com/ Kopianget: Artist - An artist for several games (most notably Huniepop), he mostly does the full screen CGs but also helps with character design. http://kopianget.deviantart.com/ Missing: Artist - An artist who has been a part of several visual novels, he is drawing all of the backgrounds present within the game as well as helping with overall world design. http://lordless.deviantart.com/ Startwo: A pair of artists who have been essential toward bringing the overall look of the setting together. They put in a lot of work towards helping to design the outfits and general look/feel of the setting. While only a select few things will be drawn by them, a lot of their work will be in the art book and related projects. http://www.startwo.net/ For more info and stuff, visit the Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1070798205/book-of-zhu-legacy

  22. Hi everyone! We're a u7committee — a small team of people from different parts of the world with backgrounds in gaming and video industry. We'd like to announce our Kickstarter project on Fuwanovel. It's called Minotaur, and it's a crossover between visual novel and point and click adventure/puzzle game. Zero escape and Danganronpa series are, of course, a big inspiration (the other side being LucasArts classics... And The Neverhood. Did anyone play The Neverhood?) Please take a look at our Kickstarter trailer. It's pretty short, but it tells a lot about the game: If you like the trailer, you can actually give the game a try. We have a one hour playable demo (which has a complete voice over from some great actors, by the way) for Windows PC and Mac available. You can download it from: Game Jolt | itch.io | IndieDB | Our website Remember: that's VN/adventure game — you'll need to solve puzzles, use inventory etc. But if you don't like that part (or get stuck doing it), jsut use this spoiler-free walkthrough that we wrote. We'd be happy to hear your feedback about the game. And if you liked it, you can check out our Kickstarter page and consider supporting Minotaur (at the moment of writing this, we're nearing €20K of our €30K goal): Our Kickstarter page A couple of words about the game... Minotaur is a sci-fi murder mystery set in the world we've spent two years creating. The game is now 50% done, and we expect to release at the end of this year. (If you're interested, you can read more about it here.) The game is split into five routes and features nine characters. The cast is pretty diverse... there's even a penguin (no EVA reference, I swear): These poor creatures wake up to find themselves trapped in their own apartment building, and (naturally) try to get out, struggling to understand what had happened in the process. More often than not, they die. Graphics are a mix of hand-drawn artwork and 3D modelling. Here are some screenshots from the game: (Did I already tell you there are no EVA references?) And that's that... I hope that you give Minotaur a try. If you happen to have any questions or feedback, let me know and I'll be there. Cheers and thanks for your time! Nick PS: I just can't not say it... Fuwanovel UI is really sexy. And the editor is one of the best I've seen. Writing this post was a pleasure!
  23. Hey Fuwanovel forum folk! I'm Kevin, founder of a tiny independent game studio called Nuclear Fishin' Software, based in NYC. Over the past half year, we've been developing a new visual novel / SLG in Ren'Py. It's called Four Horsemen, and it's not like any other SLG you have played before. To fund development the rest of the way, we're launching a Kickstarter campaign very soon! Before we do that, though, we'd like to get some feedback from players who are familiar with VNs in general and Ren'Py games specifically. And where better than here? (edit 2) The game is out, and is available for purchase on itch.io! Thanks so much to everyone who supported us. Also, please vote for us on Steam Greenlight so we can get the game on Steam! (edit) Our Kickstarter is live!! Please back us if you like what you see. PROJECT INTRODUCTION Four Horsemen is an upcoming visual novel / SLG about immigrant lived experiences, with a touch of magical realism. You play as a group of four immigrants in their mid-teens, the Riders, who discover a long-forgotten, empty World War II-era machinegun bunker on the edge of town. They turn it into a secret clubhouse where they can hang out and do teenagery things like drink booze and play video games without adult supervision, and in doing so, they inadvertently create a new community. What this community does, and what it is for, is up to you. You'll spend much of the game gathering resources and building things to put in the clubhouse, and your choices of what you have the kids do and make will set the kids' priorities and consequently drive the storyline. What's not up to you is the world outside the clubhouse, which will slowly encroach on your burgeoning community. It will force the kids to come to terms with the politics that brought them to their new homeland, and the legacy they have inherited from their parents' country, a land they barely know. Political realities will also impede your ability to interact with NPCs and gather resources. Unlike other SLGs, you can't just stat-grind, buy, and bribe your way to a Good End--institutional racism will harry your production, forcing you to think outside the box and negotiate, borrow, improvise, and steal what you need. (Non-spoiler: What you build doesn't matter nearly as much as how you build it.) The big twist is that virtually everything in the game--the nature of the tragedy that brought these children to foreign shores, what the kids' values are, what language they swear in, what arcs are and aren't available, what the price of a wooden table leg is--all these things are determined by which fictional country the kids are from, and which fictional country they live in. You get to pick which country the kids are from on your first playthrough. On every playthrough after that, the game picks for you. The result will be an SLG with unprecedented replayability. On your second play, you might notice that choices that helped you win the first time around are missing, or that NPCs respond differently to different dialogue options. Resources that were easy to get before might now be hard, characters who were crucial the first time around have been replaced with new, different characters (forcing you to play an entirely different arc), and so on. Like real immigrant teenagers, you will have to figure out each new culture on your own, and constantly make decisions about whether you want to conform to it or stick by your own principles and work against it. This forces you to use real social skills to guide your decisions, rather than just telling NPCs what they want to hear or what sounds like it would produce the best reward. FEATURES Gorgeous art by the immensely talented comics artists Iasmin Omar Ata and Olga Andreyeva Stunning soundtrack by professional game audio designer Alyssa Menes and a variety of very talented independent bands, inspired by punk rock and its conceptual descendants (including postrock, riot grrl, and antifolk). Possibly the most complex treatment of immigration and racism ever to be explored in a video game--half a year of research, interviews, and difficult real-life conversations with immigrants from dozens of different real-life cultures ensure this won't just be a simple morality tale about how people from ethnic majorities should be nice to people from ethnic minorities. Repatriation! Assimilationist paternalism! Shifting historical identities! Historical complicity! Identity in exile! Inspired by both real-life twentieth century history and recent events, this game takes an international worldview, and does not shy away from difficult or uncomfortable questions. (Not in demo) Unique structure: Play through the whole game in a weekend, every weekend, for months; different every time. Meta-motivation tracking: choices are balanced to gently troll players who follow SLG genre conventions instead of their hearts. Lots of animations and other little surprises to keep things interesting. Deliberately broken economy loop -- use your heart and your wits to obtain what you can't get from the item shop! (Not in demo) No wish fulfillment--you can start a romantic relationship between any two PCs, but beware, teenage romantic relationships are just as transient and awkward as they are in real life. Tense, exciting microaggression system (instead of combat), with fancy Phoenix Wright-like animations. Empathy is your only weapon! (That, and your fists.) CHARACTER ARCHETYPES Though you'll play as a different set of four characters each playthrough, they always conform to the same four archetypes, each one inspired by a different Horseman of the Apocalypse from Christian-Islamic eschatological tradition. This reflects the uncanny feeling, common among travelers and schoolteachers, of meeting the same people over and over, with small but significant variations--amplified by the cultural forces of globalization, which draw teenagers of particular temperaments to the same clothes, music, and hobbies all over the world. The protagonists of Four Horsemen are not literal personifications of their religious namesakes, but as war, death, famine, and pestilence are intimately tied to the human experience of immigration, the central conflict of each character is defined by one of these concepts in a way that is meant to resonate with the experiences of people who have experienced them in reality. WAR The leader of the Riders and the only first-generation immigrant of the group, War's haunted eyes and tough demeanor belie the playfulness of a girl who struggles to balance between growing up too soon and catching up too late on her lost childhood. Her future taken from her at an early age, War lives in the moment, burying a deep, implacable sadness in sports and drinking and video games. Her considerable leadership skills, overdeveloped sense of responsibility, and deep fascination with ancient history are overlooked by her teachers at school, who write her off as a ditzy tomboy partybro. Though quick to anger, and extremely protective of her younger sister Death, she is surprisingly slow to violence, due to her early experiences with bloodshed. When she does pick fights, though, watch out! Mercy is not a concept she understands. Because she's the only Rider who remembers the old country, the other Riders see her as a sort of wise-woman figure, a role for which she is woefully unprepared. She spends a lot of time worrying about who she really is. War's storylines deal with themes of personal identity, security, armed conflict, heritage, and nation-building. DEATH A free spirit and incorrigible smartass who talks the same way IRL as she does on the Internet, Death couldn't care less about politics or identity. Death lives for one thing and one thing only: to make something even cooler than the last thing she made. She has a gift for electrical engineering, but talent doesn't necessarily equal competence--at her early age, she's still kind of figuring out how everything works, and sometimes everything, well, doesn't. Everyone but her thinks her talent is going to make her rich and famous someday, a perception against which she constantly struggles. A few early, horrifying years in a refugee camp made her keenly aware that she's never going to have the same opportunities as other kids her age, and she often has to balance her pathological fear of missing out with her obsession with catching up. These experiences, and the toxicity of online communities, bestow on her both an acerbic wit and an unbearable loneliness. Death's storylines deal with themes of lived experience, erasure, self-determination, industry, and the meaning of labor. FAMINE A wide-eyed, impressionable, easily impressed little dude, Famine has it pretty good compared to War and Death--he's a naturalized citizen who grew up in his new country, speaks with the local accent, and could almost pass for a native if given the chance. But this "almost" is what torments him: he's the only child of a single dad, he's an unremarkable student, he's just a little too awkward to be well liked at school, and there's always just barely not enough money to get by without cutting corners. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Famine doesn't believe the deck is stacked against him. A better world is always within reach! He believes that with a little gumption and a lot of hard work, anything is possible! ("Anything" includes winning the affections of Death, who he has a massive crush on, and who, of course, will not give him the time of day.) Famine wears a French maid costume when he dusts the clubhouse because it is a practical outfit for dusting. Shut up. You would too, if he wasn't the only one who ever bothered to dust this fucking sty. You slacker. He is best bros with Pestilence and looks up to him immensely, which is a little mysterious since Pestilence has no ambition. They like weed. Famine's storylines deal with themes of opportunity, entrepreneurship, gender roles, equality, respectability, and institutional privilege. PESTILENCE Pestilence is an enigma wrapped in a shroud of pot smoke. The son of two unremarkable, well-off parents from the old country, Pestilence has spent his entire life in his new homeland, and is widely reviled. His family was part of the community that welcomed War and Death out of a refugee camp in their early childhood, and the sisters consider him a family friend. Everyone else, except for Famine, seems to distrust him--his teachers insist he's trouble, though he rarely makes any; the police hassle him at every opportunity; taxi drivers and social workers are struck by a sudden and terrible deja vu. Pestilence is accustomed to this reaction and takes it in stride. He is very friendly and sees himself as a sort of Mister Rogers figure, preaching simple, occasionally grim aphorisms from doctor's office brochures. Naturally, Famine thinks he's the chillest person ever, and they are best bros. Though he generally comes off as a carefree gentle giant, Pestilence has strong convictions and will passively resist anyone who stands against them. It is rumored that when the immigration bureau sent his parents the eighth late notice for his resident alien registration, Pestilence mailed them a drawing of a smiling cockroach flying a UFO. Pestilence's storylines deal with themes of religion, conquest, demography, social justice, and the spread of ideas. WHO WE ARE Nuclear Fishin' Software is based in Brooklyn, New York, and our core creative team consists of: Kevin Chen (writing, programming, direction, design) -- that's me! Iasmin Omar Ata (character design, CG illustration) Olga Andreyeva (background and item illustration) Alyssa Menes (music and sfx) We are professionals with years of game industry experience, we are all immigrants, and we love SLGs--so being able to work on a game about a subject so close to our hearts is a real treat! PROGRESS So, while development on the Kickstarter playable WIP demo continues apace, we made a pre-Kickstarter preview build just for Fuwanovel, Lemmasoft, and some other VN forums. What's already done as of demo preview build v0.400: All the PC expressions and the vast majority of the NPCs as well Country system - play as characters from any of 10 different countries, with significant and far-reaching effects on dialogue and the choices available to you Economy loop and rewards - we won't spoil anything here, but this includes a lot of surprises One main route, complete except for the ending, which we have intentionally omitted (we wouldn't want to spoil anything before the final release!). We plan to do at least two more for the final release, perhaps more depending on funding Three minor routes, one of them fully complete, the rest nearly complete. There are also stubs for several others Microaggression system, in two different play modes, including an endboss An absurdly sophisticated profanity system - characters codeswitch naturally and swear in their native languages Dynamic BGM system - in addition to some incredible tracks across several different genres from our talented musician friends, each of the main characters has its own instrumental motif. Waaaaay more than we can list -- most of the game's systems are complete! What's not done yet: New Game+ - all the ingame integration is in place, though since we only have one main route so far, we can't show you the depth of our New Game+ system just yet Replay is going to be more meaningful and varied once we have fully implemented the New Game+ system UI - we plan to do a massive overhaul if we're funded Day phase world map - we're working on making this even prettier and more intuitive, stay tuned! Tons more content - we plan to add at least two more main routes at the very least, each with unique NPCs A bunch of the higher tier items don't do what they're supposed to yet If we're funded, we'll keep iterating on the game's systems incrementally, improving playfeel and UI messaging, making the animations cooler, and generally making everything prettier, more polished, and more fun to play We welcome any feedback you might have--especially if there's anything that might be a major dealbreaker in a decision about whether or not you'd buy the game. Download the Beta Demo via Itch.io | Beta Demo Patch Notes | Beta Demo Survey The Letter's Beta Demo (V0.2.0) is finally ready for public consumption! Thank you so much for patiently waiting, and we sincerely hope you'll enjoy the game! The beta demo is a testament to what we've been doing these past couple of months, and we're proud of how much the game has evolved since its alpha phase. This is more or less how the final game is going to look/feel like, and covers the same scenes as alpha. Except for that, every element from the first demo was changed. Beta is now feature complete, but we're continuously enhancing every aspect of the game in preparation for the full release. Please take note that not everything you'll see in this demo is final. After you finish playing the game, please answer this short survey we've prepared. We value your feedback, so please don't hesitate to tell us what you think! We'll use the data gathered to further improve the game. And as a token of our appreciation, all survey respondents will receive a special wallpaper! Questions about this new demo: 1. Do you like it? Hate it? 2. What do you think of the characters currently presented? Do you have someone you like in particular? 3. What do you think of the art style? 4. How do you find the writing style compared to the alpha demo? 5. Any other suggestions, comments, critiques? Thanks so much for your time!
