Ten years ago, six children in Manila are found dead from a gruesome disease. The pathogen, named instantaneous Nex Aneurysma, or iNA(def: 'Mother') for short, is a contagion found to be fatal, undetectable, and transferable only via human touch. After this discovery, the capital city of Manila is shut off from the world and Republic Act 51001 is passed. 'An act establishing the quarantine of the city of Manila, and the forbidding of skin contact between all citizens preventing further transmission of the iNA disease, to be enforced with whatever means necessary.' No intimacy. No physical connection. Violators shot on sight. Ten years have passed, and twenty-one year old Jericho survives by being an intimus - someone who sells human touch inside the Neo-Manilan walls. Though the crime is considered punishable by death, both police and citizens have come to accept him and intimi as part of "normal" life.   3. Project Introduction My First Castellan is Elysium Studios' first visual novel and it's a romance-mystery in an alternate history universe. Visual Novel Synopsis Ever thought you had a bad day at work? Harlequin Beaumont has you beat. You see, he just got a sweet job as Castellan of Vernon and on his first day in town, his family’s reputation as a bunch of party animals precedes him. This, of course, makes him seem like a young, naive fool to his new personal assistant, Ruby Fox. After trying to joke around with the castle’s security staff, he proceeds to his room to retire for the night… only to be held down and injected with a magical elixir. When he wakes up three days later, he finds his best friend, the Crown Prince of Cordonia, at his bed side… and he is now a she. You both work together to try to hunt down the truth of the conspiracy against you as you fulfill your obligations as Castellan. Navigating both the Royal Court and the nobility, as well as Cordonia’s seedy criminal underbelly, you can discover a plot that stretches to the highest levels of Cordonian society that leaves you wondering, can you really trust anyone? In Episode One, you get to know Northwinter, the capitol of Vernon and your new home. And what better way than a festival? After you are installed as Castellan of Vernon, you get thrown into the celebration of the Greater Feast and culminating with the Winter Solstice. However, the conspirators who changed Harley left something very important behind: one of their own! Because of the crowds and tourists, he's having a hard time leaving Northwinter. Your objective is to hunt him down while not panicking the crowd and get the details about what happened to you. Staff or Team Members Apart from myself, we also have Madison Taylor (artist from the Least Likely Magical Girl web comic) doing the background art and DaphInteresting (character artist who did the Panzermadels art) doing the character art. Matthew Myers (L33tMusic) is doing the original sound track, Atomic-Invasion is doing the logo and GUI, and WhiteCharisma is finishing up the trailer. Progress The project is 100% written and since we've gotten to the point where we've gotten as much assets as we could with the resources we have, we're going to be launching a Kickstarter soon. Background art is around 10-15% completed, character art is 7% done, the theme song for the OST is done, and we're working to get started on the GUI. Originally, the game was a one-off, 100,000 word VN but after serious thought and introspection, we decided to make it into a series because the pacing was wrong doing it in one go with only 100,000 words.   5. KICKSTARTER || TWITTER Welcome to Love Shore, a city that transforms at night. The futuristic metropolis also just happens to also be populated with cyborgs, old gods hidden in the depths of a criminal underground, and humans eager to crawl their way to the top, no matter what the cost. After a fertility crisis changed the landscape of the city for good, a single company stepped in to help the residents: Life S. Incorporated, a biotech firm that claimed to be able to build life out of raw DNA, creating a fully formed human with thoughts, feelings, and morality of their own. Their minds, physical appearance, and personality would be drawn from their parents’ DNA, but the children would be ‘born’ using artificial bodies. This new generation would be called the S.Humans: a non-aging, tough form of new life. Love Shore is a visual novel game that takes concepts we've always loved in sci-fi, action, and horror and blends them together to create something wild. It features a queer, diverse cast, a seemingly endless city, and a story of coming into yourself and doing what you think is right…with a heavy dose of drama and violence mixed in for good measure. Love Shore features two playable protagonists with four romanceable options, each with their own storylines. The cast is entirely LGBT+. The game’s projected features will include 12 chapters, 24 possible endings, 60 CGs, 25 unique locations, and an original soundtrack. Follow one of two protagonists, Farah or Sam, as you investigate the city's criminal underbelly, and help your companions on their quests for redemption, love, and power. Love Shore has a cast of vastly different individuals, from S.Humans to Gods. Each person is unique in their motivations and in the way they interact with the world, and with you. Be careful to choose your friends and lovers wisely. Protagonists Love Shore is a vast and intricate city, and you’re going to need some local help to find out what’s going on. Each of your companions have different strengths, weaknesses, and connections that can either help or hinder you. Your companions can be your love interests, or you can just pursue true bromance: the choice is yours. They are the lead character designer with a deep love for fashion and neon. (Hence, perfect for Love Shore). Zi is the amazing individual behind all the environments you see in game! She is an illustrator and concept artist who loves doing promotional work inspired by film. And that beautiful menu you see above? That’s by our UI Designer Sonja, who contributes a retro-sleek and professional look to the game. Besides being a huge memer, they have worked on a variety of design projects and games, both personal and professional. Son M. and Emmett are the co-writers of Love Shore, who additionally moonlight as producers for the game. Jason is a freelance programmer, and founder of indie gamedev studio Stray Basilisk. He's a dedicated sci-fi nerd, and card-carrying Philip K Dick and Stanislaw Lem fanboy. Jason joined the team to help bring Perfect Garbage's creative vision for Love Shore into reality. Jayson is the musical brains behind our soundtrack. He is an independent artist, musician who makes his own music and has worked on sound design for a handful of projects. Our theme song (the one that plays during the credits/menu) was composed and produced by 1X4X44R exclusively for Love Shore. If you like the sound, check out their other music! We are trying to reach $50,000 on Kickstarter! It's a steep goal, I know, but to pay for the art fairly, the music and programming, it's the smallest amount we could ask! It’s going to be an otome with resource management elements (we were inspired by Long Live The Queen, but are going to create a more narratively focused game compared to LLTQ). For Band Camp this year, Mr. Wiley said we'll be going away to a literal camp in the middle of nowhere--to "focus on learning this year’s field show and attain the ultimate level of band bonding." Words cannot describe how much I’m looking forward to this! I’m going to use this precious time to grow as a leader and make tons more friends. After all, it’s a fresh new year filled with hope and opportunity. I hope the band is ready to experience plenty of blood, sweat, and tears, because this is going to be a marching band season unlike any other! -GAMEPLAY/FEATURES- In Band Camp Boyfriend, the player’s choices will greatly influence day-to-day events, Cadence's leadership style, and her relationships with other characters. Eventually, her choices will determine which boy’s route the player ends up on. We believe stat systems should serve the story first and foremost, and will be using them behind the scenes to assist in creating the most authentic and engaging experience possible. DIFFICULTY LEVEL - The game will be difficult enough that players have to use their heads when making decisions, especially in the latter half of the game. But it will not be so difficult that everyone will be absolutely required to use a walkthrough to reach all the true/good endings. There is some room for error. We're a bit traditional in the way that each character has one good or "true" end and one or more bad ends, with no "neutral" endings. However, we hope the bad endings will be satisfying in their own twisted way. They should be experiences players won't want to miss out on! -CHARACTERS- Each of the dateable guys is based on the popular personality stereotype of the instrument they play. Level up and make your build unique During the game you will be able to choose different abilities by gaining experience and leveling up your character. Choosing your specialties and making decisions will be incredibly important and it will also increase the game replayability. (the image has been drastically reduced so it lost a big chunk of its original quality, sorry for that) Build the Acropolis Better walls, easier access to water or maybe earning the favor of the Gods? Everything counts! But consider… It will take time, which you won’t be able to spend to acquire new skills. Hmm, decisions, decisions… Every time you level up and/or between chapters the game will give you the following option: What shall we do? What you decide to do it's up to you. A better Acropolis will mean a better defense against incursions, better morale for your heroines and other buffs. There is a lot to build but those kind of improvements are designed to make the general environment a better place for you. On the other side, skills bring more specific bonuses. Of course the angry men and the soldiers will not remain idle for long. They didn’t like Lisistrata’s little plan one bit and they will do everything in their power to sabotage your rebellion. They will strike back quickly and it will be quite challenging to survive. Your Skills under a magnifying glass Everything you do, every path you take, every decision you make will present the player with small challenges to overcome: Skill checks. On a successful skill check the player may acquire various advantages that will help the game progression in general; upon a failed skill check the consequences may vary from minor to catastrophic and they may be suffered immediately or later in the game. Therefore, it’s not advisable to Swim if your character has not yet unlocked that ability, you may regret this... Death in this game is permanent. Turn Based Combat Strategize with party order, party composition, and unlocked skills against a huge variety of enemies. When diplomacy fails, it’s time to put your abilities to good use! Each one of our heroines have their own strengths and weaknesses so be careful and evaluate the situation very carefully before choosing who to bring with you in combat. Managing a good mix of abilities is the key to victory. Also we've added some modern RPG concepts on top of this structure; these include AoEs, DoTs, grapples and combos, creating a tactical battle full of depth. Who will oppose you... Our heroines! The journals, the media, the police officers…everyone blames it on him. It’s a death sentence. But only if Ori Asylum will declare he was mentally stable at the moment of the attack, it seems there have been objections that have saved him from the grim reaper. To determine his psychological conditions, he’s sent to the psychiatric hospital in Sapporo; there, he finds himself trapped in an unsettling, suffocating reality that makes him doubt the truth of what he’s been told until then. Between mixed memories and unexplainable events, he meets three girls who’ll change his life: Innocent Shizune and her mysterious sketchbook, the alluring vice-director Nao and Supra with her sad eyes If Eiza wants to break free from his cage, he has no other choice than investigate and discover the truth about who he is and what he has done MUSIC To give a better feel old style we decided to use the YM-2608 sound chip (used for many pc-98 games like Yu-No) and some tracks accompanied by MIDI 90s Gameplay and INFO It’s a medium-length novel where the player can interact with the main characters and take crucial decisions that will shape the course of the story. The choices will mostly revolve around the type of attitude the player can assume in response to the characters they’re interacting with, and to the different mysteries they’re bound to encounter and deal with. There are two different routes per possibile love interest, a good ending and 2 bad ending, for a total of six routes. Once it will be reached the goal of 8500$, there will be the opportunity of playing the game from Supra’s perspective. There could be scenes classified as “ecchi”, but nothing explicit. CHARACTERS When Eiza wakes up in jail, he remembers only two things: His name and the fact that he’s not a terrorist, not matter what the government says. He dreams of flames and people screaming, but his instinct tells him he’s missing a piece of the puzzle; there must be more, another explanation. He knows he’s not a terrorist, but the world seems to think the opposite. If only he could remember… Nao’s the seductive vice-director of Ori Asylum. She moves like a queen between the peasants, her tone and words are aimed to please, tantalize and manipulate. Her sparkly eyes know more of what she lets surface, her taunting smirk is a dangerous provocation. She has one priority and it’s herself, she would do anything to protect what’s hers and obtain what she desires. Nao likes to play with people and uses it to her own advantage. She makes use of her power and influence to control the Asylum, even if she despises it and its guests Supra is one of the nurses at Ori Asylum. The woman hides every emotion and thought behind a cold mask of indifference or exasperation; she has a detached attitude and sharp tongue that make it difficult for others to approach her. However, when she’s treating her patients, or when she lowers her guard, a caring fondness emerges and gives the hints of a gentle heart. Supra rarely loses her temper, managing to keep under control both herself and the situation at hand. She’s the main responsible of the patients affected by dementia and other patiens like Shizune Shizune is a shy girl, patient of the Ori Asylum, who seems to have often her head in the clouds; she’s easily frightened and intimidated, but this is not going to stop her curiosity and gentle heart. Her kind smile is a balsam for the soul and, even if she speaks cryptically, a fond sweetness always lies in her tone. Her innocence and naivety resemble the one of a child, but that’s not a reason to underestimate her bravery or passion. Borokai Studio is an indie group and Omega Pattern is his first indie visual novel. Besides being indie, Omega Pattern intends to be a very long visual novel (+40 hours). The decision system that we’ll use for the routes won’t allow us to separate them into more parts since we want that every decision you make can cause an impact on the story as it advances as well as in the endings. Similar to the adventure books of the 70s and 80s, the player is given an opportunity to interact with the story by choosing a path for the protagonist to follow. The path can lead to a "good", "bad" or "neutral" ending. Depending on the ending, the story may or may not continue onward.   23. Hello! My name's Luther, I'm the game designer on a new game that combines elements of Visual Novels and Roguelikes called 'Ambition: Minuet in Power'. We launched on Kickstarter a few weeks ago and we're already 71% funded. In Ambition, you play at Yvette, a woman of fashion in France right before the revolution. Yvette wants power, wealth and love, by any means necessary. Attend parties, charm guests, seduce powerful people and snub your enemies. However, the revolution is approaching and you must be careful, in order to survive, you'll need to end up on the winning side of history. Some random thoughts about the game: Every playthrough is different! Characters that appear in one playthrough may not appear in another. History is a mystery! The revolution might win this time, or it might not, carefully observe political events and adapt as they unfold, in order to avoid the guillotine. Revolutionary fashion! All the outfits worn in the game are based on actual paintings and fashion plates from the period. Strut like a queen, or march like a Jacobin! Both male and female romance options will be available (hence the GxB&G tag). The game won't be fully voice acted (way too expensive), but we'd like to have voice overs for some of the main story points. Thanks for reading!   24. Hello everyone! Our two-person team at Woodsy Studio is excited to officially announce Echoes of the Fey - Episode 2: The Last Sacrament. It's actually pretty far along in production right now (about 75% complete), but we're running a Kickstarter to help us to the finish line and fund all of the features we want to implement (such as more CGs and voice acting). The Echoes of the Fey series mixes a high fantasy setting with the mysteries and conspiracies of pulp detective fiction. Play as Sofya Rykov, a private investigator with a secret of her own: she is the only Human able to wield unlimited magic. Her country of Oraz is recovering from a 30-year war between Humans and Leshin (elves) over the use of Fey energy, so her unstable magic is best kept secret. Sofya herself is an unusual protagonist. For starters, we gave her personality traits typically given to the male leads of hard-boiled mystery tales. She sports a sassy, optimistic attitude that laughs in the face of danger, but this is a cover for the fear and helplessness underneath. As a result she sleeps around, drinks heavily, and knows she could die at any moment from the strange magic trapped inside of her. In The Last Sacrament, Sofya’s childhood love and the Emperor’s daughter, Katerina, seeks her protection from threats near the border. Meanwhile Katerina’s rival, Nikolai, needs a dangerous drug stolen from the powerful Krovakyn Church and uses blackmails to force Sofya’s assistance. Nikolai wants a dose of the Sacrament, a mysterious substance from the Krovakyn Church that can cure illnesses and extend lifespans. But repeated use of the Sacrament causes strange side effects, such as hallucinations and physical deformities. Nikolai wants to give the Sacrament to his grandmother, who has already received the maximum dosage allowed. It’s up to you, the player, to solve each case and determine its outcome. Can you track down Katerina’s enemy? And if you manage to steal the Sacrament, what will you choose to do with it? You also have several romance options in The Last Sacrament. If you proceed carefully, you can develop a romantic relationship with Katerina, Arkady, Nikolai, or Heremon. Most of The Last Sacrament consists of traditional VN scenes with choices to direct the story. You can also roam the town of Vodotsk freely as a side-scrolling environment, which opens up side quests and optional investigation opportunities. But the most experimental aspect of Echoes of the Fey: The Last Sacrament is a complex mini-game called RiftRealms. This is a tabletop game that exists in the world of Echoes of the Fey, and as Sofya you can play with other characters. We thought this would be an interesting way to showcase each character’s personality based on how they treat you as a Dungeon master. It also explores the question: what do people fantasize about in a fantasy world? What I'd love to hear from you: 1) Feedback about RiftRealms Via the download-able demo, you can see the first few scenes of the game and try RiftRealms for yourself! We'd love to hear what people think of the mini-game and whether you feel it will be an enjoyable addition to the narrative experience. If you have any other specific feedback about the game right now we'd love to hear that, too 2) Feedback regarding technical game performance Due to the fact that we're building this game in Unreal Engine 4 and implementing some fancy 3D environments, we realize that playing the game will require a better graphics card and CPU than most visual novels. You can set the Overall Visual Quality to LOW in the Options menu if you have a lower-end computer. Either way, we'd love to get a general feel for how the game performs for the average player. PROGRESS The Kickstarter sadly wasn't funded, but we promised that we would stay hard-at-work on the game and ensure it released, though perhaps without all the features we hoped to fund. We anticipated an early 2018 release date, but the unsuccessful campaign and a Steam release of our latest game, miraclr: Divine Dating Sim put us a few months behind schedule. A few months later, we're excited to be ready to give an update on The Last Sacrament. The script is finished and 95% coded into the game. Almost all the art assets are complete and incorporated into the project. The soundtrack is complete except for a couple of remixes that we hope will be a fun surprise for our players. What's left to complete? First off, the remaining portions of the script we've yet to implement in the game. That last five percent is chronologically near the end of the game and (as a result) has more branches/possibilities than most scenes. Second, we're hoping to implement a dynamic version of RiftRealms, the RPG mini-game, so that if players enjoy it they can experience it at any time, not just when the story allows. Finally, the not-insignificant testing and optimization phase, where we'll iron out every bug we can find over the final stretch. So, when will you be able to play The Last Sacrament? As long as there aren't any more unexpected delays, we're aiming for a late May or June release on Steam/itch.io for Windows PCs. Console versions will likely be later this year.
