Hi, I'm about to play Clannad, and am a bit confused about the dialogue choices in visual novels and when to save before you are faced with a choice that can determine the ending or route that you get or complete. Do I save when a dialogue selection menu pops up on screen, choose one of the options, proceed with the game, and then get an ending or complete a route? Afterwards, do I go back to that save I made, and choose the other option to see other events that I missed? If I do this, on the next dialogue selection, I will have to repeat that one again as well. There will probably be lots of saves in the end! I want to get all endings, see all events, etc. I hope this make sense. I would really appreciate some explanations on how multiple saves work, recommended places to save in a visual novel and what some of you guys do when it comes to saving. Thank you!

Review Link Heya! I'm Kosakyun. Last month, I reviewed Dreamloop Games' first visual novel title Inescapable: No Rules, No Rescue for Fuwanovel. If you're familiar with the title, it probably means you caught whiff of whatever drama was happening around its release. While some of the criticisms do make sense given the game's price and just a broader context of the overall situation, it's better if you still play it yourself to get your own opinion regardless, right? So given the opportunity, that's exactly what I did! For a quick look, here are some points I felt were important. Pros: Vibrant cast of characters with their own quirky personalities (sometimes to their detriment) Creative setting for a relationship simulator Cool UI and miscellaneous features (minigames!) Routes with themes that play nicely into the game's setting Mia Cons: It's incredibly slow-burn (felt lika a slog at some point) Limited saves The minigames lack meaning or replayability There is no "Extra" tab for CGs and Music There are no guides and I cannot find my last fucking achievement because the description is so vague I'm curious to see if you guys agree with whatever I said here, so come at me with your worst! No really, please. Talk to me about it. I need someone to talk to. Here's the Steam page if you're interested in taking a peek at it yourself!

This is an old review, but back in July, I reviewed Synesthesia, a sci-fi adventure game by Spire Games. Have you played it? What did you think of it?

Back in August, I played the demo for BRXKEN INSIDE. It's a psychological horror yuri and around... 1 hour? It's still a demo, after all. Check it out here and let's discuss! What are your expectations for the full release?

I checked vndb and it says that toheart is getting translated but I can't figure how to download the TL. I also can't figure out anywhere that I can download to heart or where to find a english patch for shizuku. Can anyone help me with these problems?

Wft what it's happening since Witch garden are on Nintendo eShop in EU with Japanese support. I'm from Norway in Europe and I just so Witch garden on Nintendo switch eShop, bud sadly it's not in English. I don't understand why Nintendo decided to release it in Japanese and not in English. I'm quite disappointed right now. Since I don't understand Japansk.

Note: There are some bad endings within each route of the three heroines where Kyosuke gets killed that are not significant to the overall story of the visual novel. They're more like Game Over sequences, so I didn't include them on this post. (Momoko Momono Endings) (Ai Hongou Endings) (Yukino Hongou Endings)

So the 0.6-stable version came up.. A lot of things have been done, fixed, improved. Now it can be called a full-fledged engine, albeit with a slight stretch. I would be glad if someone tries to do something on it (but for this you need to know lua, or python, lmao) See you in December, as the official launch of the release version of the project is aimed at this date. I got inspired by @otomeaddicted on Twitter. Questions like this are really nice to round out the year so why not post it here too? So of all VNs you played 2022 which are your favorite protagonists? The VNs don't need to have been released this year. For me it would be: Hibari Tojo from Variable Barricade for being the very opposite of a self-insert character as a tsundere ojou-san. She was packed full of personality and with her flaws she powered entire routes without being annoying. She also made different and interesting relationship dynamics possible per route. I did pity her poor suitors sometimes. She is not an easy one to win over lol And: I also really liked Tamamori from Hashihime of the Old Book Town. My guy is a mess and is in an even messier situation. The way he interacted with the world around him made the game feel like a fever dream. He truly defined the atmosphere and plot of the game. I can't think of one thing I would change about him. Truly a pathetic guy I want to study under a microscope!

It seems that a lot of this VN feels unfinished or unexplored in general. I'd say there is a bit too much being left to the reader to the point we could have cut out an entire route in favor of more time on Yuka, expanding the story and world. Except for a few details in each route, it feels like each of the cover girls is completely interchangeable because they do not have any bearing on the story a la Dies Irae, for example, where they do in each route albeit in different ways. I thoroughly enjoyed it, though! It is one of my favorite horror VNs, and I think there's a great story here somewhere, but I had to read in between the lines a bit more than I would have liked. Gore's theme was amazing, and really conveyed a sense of panic and terror while also making it seem like a jovial performance. I have made an extensive 16-page analysis Google Doc of this visual novel that you can find here, attempting to explain or provide theories for literally everything I could think of that was left unclear. I originally made this to respond to a Reddit thread, but people will inevitably ask questions. So, I hope that this can put some of those to rest. Below you'll find a summary of this document. It goes without saying that the Google Doc is filled with spoilers. If you choose to read all of it, I hope you enjoy reading this essay of mine! I put a lot of work into it because I really enjoyed this VN. *****

Content warning: This title is extremely dark and features incredibly intense scenes of sexual abuse and torture and I'm going to talk about it. Like, it's bad enough that the reason I'm making a post here instead of a video is because I think Youtube would legitimately give me a strike. If that's something that seriously bothers you, consider giving this post a pass. Also, minor spoilers ahead, but nothing that should harm your experience if you decide to check it out for yourself. So recently I decided to read Blackheart Hotel, which is an indie OELVN that has a bit of an extreme reputation. See, I love my fluffy moege as much as the next guy, but I'm also fascinated by stories that explore dark topics. And Blackheart Hotel DEFINITELY gets dark. As a piece of writing, I'd say it's decent. Maybe a bit above average. Nothing super special. But the thing that intrigued me is that it features one of the most genuinely evil and scary protagonists I've seen. And it's not like most "villain protagonists" where they're cartoonish, lovable, or so over-the-top that they belong in a children's show. Jacky of Blackheart Hotel is an intense but grounded type of evil. The kind of evil that could and most certainly does exist in reality. What freaks me out about Jacky is that people like him are real. He's one sick twisted motherfucker and I can't stop thinking about it. So what makes him so evil? His story is that he was brought up in a mob family and was essentially groomed into doing their dirty work from a young age. As a result, he was raping, torturing, and murdering as a young teen. Later on in life, he was half-removed from that negative influence (the details aren't necessary here and I'd rather avoid unneeded spoilers), but the damage had been done. He still had evil impulses and taking advantage of people came second-nature to him. [Note: Last chance to dip out before I talk about fucked up shit] Now, many of the more extreme H scenes are avoidable through dialogue, but it really doesn't change the story and I suspect it only exists as a glorified skip button. Also, avoiding all the "evil" actions makes some of the dialogue towards the end not make sense, so I'm going to assume the bad stuff is canon. So what are some of these actions? I've got pretty thick skin, so if even I consider them fucked up, they're pretty bad. Well, when his mob past catches up with him, he kind of falls back into his old ways and he goes WAY further than he used to. He begins to take pleasure in inflicting suffering. He takes women captive and abuses them for hours on end. He forces a man to watch as he beats and rapes his wife (and then optionally murders one or both of them). He rapes a mother and daughter, forcing them to be intimate with one another and shoots the mother in the head at the end. He rapes a woman over her sister's corpse. REALLY fucked up shit. But it's not just shock value for its own sake. Yes, the shock value IS a factor, but it's not the entirety. In my eyes, Jacky serves as an interesting look at a character who is absolutely NOT sympathetic, but over the course of the story, we come to understand him and why he is the way he is. Of course, his mind was fucked at a young age by all the terrible shit he was forced to do (we actually see glimpses of him before all that, and he actually had a moral compass at the time). But also, the attempts to get him out of that life were done by people who really had no clue how to actually help him. But we do actually see that he had potential at one point to be a good person. In his youth, he showed mercy to what was supposed to be his first victim. As an adult, he's fiercely loyal and protective of those few people he cares about. And though his morality is fucked, when he has a moral code, he sticks to it without question, such as when he protected a mob-connected woman from an attacker. But everyone around him is either an enabler or a manipulator. His female coworkers are simply incapable of standing up to him. His love interest Paige becomes an active participant in his escapades due to her own history of sexual abuse. His other love interest Candyce is so infatuated with him that she tries to adapt to his lifestyle rather than trying to set him straight. And of course, all the mob people want to encourage his behavior so they can use him for their own ends. Jacky is the kind of guy who could have been fairly normal, but he was constantly surrounded by the worst influences and practically zero positive ones. Hell, even his own mother... wasn't exactly the best at helping him. What I'm getting at is despite the extreme lengths this character goes to, he's not just a "make this guy as evil as possible," one-dimensional character. Jacky is a fascinating look at pure, genuine evil and it's something I never really see in pretty much ANY type of media. Even if you look at something like Nabokov's Lolita, you see an evil man trying to convince himself that he's good. Jacky is pure evil, broken, and revels in the suffering of others. And he's self-aware. He states on multiple occasions that he's not a good person and if Hell exists, he's going there. I'm not actually sure where I'm going with all this, but I am still dumbstruck by how this is one of the most interesting takes on evil I've ever seen and it's wrapped up in a story that's honestly not even all that good. I just had to get these thoughts out of my head. While I can't say that this story is my favorite or anything, I'm very glad I took the time to read it. It made me think and it gave me the brain worms. Honestly, I think that this is going to color how I look at evil characters in fiction for a long time to come. I know this was a very self-indulgent post, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. On BH if you've read it, or on evil as a story tool. And as far as Blackheart Hotel goes, I'd say check it out if you can handle the extreme content. Just keep in mind that while you can avoid the worst stuff, it doesn't make a whole lot of in-universe sense (seriously, avoiding these scenes only leads to slight dialogue variations. I did a readthrough avoiding anything "evil" and one where I purposely sought them out. No changes). But if that will fuck you up, and I don't blame you if it does, there's no real harm in skipping it. You're not missing out on peak fiction here.

Hello all, I hope you all are doing alright. As by the title of this post, I am translating all three (KAG3, TJS2, and Kirikiri) sets documentation from Japanese to English. I personally prefer krkr (kirikiri) over Ren'py for a multitude of reasons; however, this post isn't about discussing that. Currently the method of translating I use is essentially utilizing Google Translate, DeepL, and even an AI (proud to say that I figured how to do so myself :D), and choosing the translation I feel to be more "natural", and as a last resort, ask someone else for the translation. So as you can imagine, this method is very much monotonous and very easy to demotivate myself from continuing this project, alongside the fact that halfway I realized the documentation I'm working on is the wrong and obsolete version of the krkr engine (called krkr2) instead of the newer krkrz, so that's a pain :') . And let's not mention the things currently going through in my real life as of now, so.. yeah. So if some of you guys volunteer on providing human translations, corrections, or even give me support for me to continue on this project, I would REALLY appreciate it. Thank you for reading! P.S. the link to the translation project: https://github.com/a-rabin/krkr2doc-en

Since I'm playing around with this game right now, and remembered this boob growth mechanics, according to VNDB there's an upper limit however there's one character's max size is still unknown (Megumino Sakon). I've found a few pics on a Chinese forum and they have publish some data on it, the maximum they get is to add 65.15mm to the bust size ,is there any cheat tools to bypass the tedious effort of playing with RNG? If not what strategy? Cheat engine manage to edit the "cum points" in game image link: https://imgur.com/a/aWbkDzX
