  1. A preview of Oyako Rankan, an NTR eroge from AliceSoft, along with an English prologue patch and Let's Play video. [Preview][NTR] Oyako Rankan + English prologue patch + Let's Play video
  2. Welcome, to the first of possibly many roundups for the VN community. Each month(?) I'll be taking a specific theme, giving some examples of where it's been done well, and get some discussion going about the theme itself. Theme 1; Kemonomimi Kemonomimi refers to humanoids, taking on animalistic traits. Traditionally, this comprises of cat ears, and tails. There are a lot more subsidies of this though, and we can even define them. Nekomimi Taking on the appearance / traits of a Cat Kitsunemimi Taking on the appearance / traits of a Fox Inumimi Taking on the appearance / traits of a Dog We've also got; ( Caution: Some NSFW ) Usagimimi: rabbit ears Ookamimi: wolf ears Hitsujimimi: sheep ears/horns Umamimi: horse ears Ushimimi: cow ears Toramimi: tiger ears Nezumimi: mouse ears Kumamimi: bear ears Kemonomimi: general, or ambiguous ( means beast ) The usual use of these tropes in Visual Novels is by having them as either a different race, a fantasy creature, or by having them as genetically modified pets. Thus, their personalities usually vary from that of traditional humans and such. There's very few Visual Novels that use this trait currently, however there's been a recent resurgence for the demand, so expect the tradition to rise a little more in the next year or so. As an example, Sekai Project has worked with the creators at NekoWorks to localise their visual novel Nekopara, and even releasing it through Steam ( censored of course ) as well as another translation for a renouned Japanese VN with a huge focus on Kemonomimi, "Pure-Pure!" due to release soon™. Pros; Catgirls. HNNNGG! Plenty of community-made originals Psychologically different relationship Affectionate by nature Catgirls. Seriously. can anyone spare a towel? No gross human ears.... bleh Cons; Rare occurrence Traditionally played off as part animal High sexual focus, low story content Probably a recruiting tool of Furries Not seeing human ears is kinda strange Why Kemonomimi? There's two major reasons that Kemonomimi is seen as a huge thing for a niche group of consumers. Firstly, catgirls are cute as hell. We can't really deny this. Secondly, is the psychological side of things with building a Kemonomimi relationship, based off an entirely new social construct. Whether you're falling in love with your family pet catgirl, you're helping spirits make peace with humans, or you've saved a stray from the cruel city streets, there's a lot of writing freedom when building relationships in a way that's not usually done. As another psychological point, there's a lot of erotic content in this genre ( at minimum, consistent fan service ). Having this come from a "person" who is psychologically conditioned different is a huge appeal to some people. Having the pack mentality of an animal, or the need to fornicate while on heat, these are different excuses for lewd content than the usual. Where do I sign up?! Here's a few examples of existing Visual Novels, with a Kemonomimi theme. ( censored, but still NSFW ) NSFW - http://imgur.com/a/lL8eQ - NSFW Please tag anything that's NSFW, and link it externally. Feel free to leave your suggestions on Kemonomimi Visual Novels. As always, I'll also be taking suggestions for next month's theme! Suggest away

  4. Does anyone have the english translation to the normal endings for Muv Luv Unlimited? The mother daughter scene to be exact. I can't get my game to that point without crashing. Would really like to be able to understand exactly what they're saying. Just the text here if possible would be more than enough Thanks in advance
  5. I notice a certain operation changes of FuwaNovel. Is been quite a while since i take a look on this site, therefore i did like to ask a few question that will likely be very familiar with all the people who always keep up with FuwaNovel updates or operations. Question: before this, i used to downlaod English - VN here. the format is a torrent file. It appear that now; Fuwanovel have change over to become a center of "Information to introduce and selling VN". I am not sure about whether i am correct in my assumption, so I decide to post here to get some guidance from you.Thank you.
  6. I have just made my first video after not making video for long time and I want to hear what there think about my Video. so here its my video I hope there would like my video
  7. I myself most often consider that I finished a VN after I read all the routes but I rarely read a bad endings and dead endings (Unless when I accidentally get them) with exception when a bad ending is a true ending for a route. I newer consider that I finished a VN until I finish all routes but oppositely I do sometimes do go for complete 100% and don't consider a VN finished until I get it like for example in Kamidori that has a lot of side stories that you won't get if you just finish all the routes. But when I just started reading a VNs I considered that I finished a VN when I read all the routes I am interested in.
  8. From the creators of Aselia the Eternal and Yumina the Ethereal comes Seinarukana, the sequel to Aselia. Set in the same world but with an all-new cast, Seinarukana is a highly rated and respected H-RPG/VN hybrid. The gameplay resembles Ogre Battle a little where you order multiple parties around to fight for control over a larger map, capturing towns and harvesting resources. From what I know, playing Aselia first is optional. Description gracelessly stolen from VNDB (thanks sanahtlig!): This game's translation has been in the works for a very long time, and after years of delays and poorly scheduled development, it's finally releasing. When? This month! Maybe early next! But it's really soon! Seriously, its release is actually imminent. Not that you'd know this unless you were REALLY closely paying attention. But at AX JAST announced that it would be released this September. And, well, it's September! When Shiny Days was delayed, someone asked JAST if Seinarukana was still on track for September, and they basically reaffirmed it. Their project status page says that all they have left to do is produce some of the Limited Edition goodies and they'll be ready to ship. I'm still not fully confident that it will be out this month just because it's JAST and you never know with them, but it's seriously not going to take much longer. So where are the preorders? The PR push? Any marketing at all, even simple tweets? You've got me. Shiny Days and Starless were preceded by months of promotional tweeting, which isn't that big of a deal but at least it's something. JAST is taking the bold strategy of "release the game and tell no one about it until it happens." Ask Sega how well that worked with the Saturn. I wonder how salty the translator Aroduc will get over this, considering his reaction to Romanesque's release. My guess is that they don't want to get hopes up with pre-release hype and then get hit by even more backlash if something unexpected happens and they're forced to delay. But that doesn't really explain the complete radio silence. They really ought to be telling people about this game. Because it's good! And people deserve to know about it, and it deserves to sell well! Aroduc is a solid translator and his work should be rewarded! So I guess I'm here to do the job JAST won't. And yes, yes, you can unleash all of your jokes about how this game is never getting released, JAST time, etc. But also feel free to actually talk about the game. These dark times are finally coming to an end.

  14. I have played many VNs now and most Of them have sexual content in the end Of the game and in begin Of heroine rute. I have played VNs with much sexual content like School Days but I didnt enjoy it very much since it was sexual content nearly right away after you start the game and it was sexual content until the end Of the game. So I stopped play that game and have not touch it since. I'm only playing game so have sexual content in the end and Of course I'm playing all Ages VNs. So I have question for there. How many Of there are playing VNs with alot Of sexual content? How many Of there are playing VNs with less sexual content? What do you prefer the most, VNs with alot Of sexual content Or VNs with less Sexual content? And sorry for my pervert question, it was not meant to be pervert or anything. It was simple question so I have been curious about for awaile. It was alt for now. See you later Novel21

  17. Developer: Black Cyc Genre: First-person shooter ADV VNDB Getchu The video is quite awesome, as are all of BlackCyc's OPs. Synopsis (translated by me from the Getchu shop page): I posted this to contribute to a license request on the MangaGamer forums.
  18. Otakon is coming up and we know at least two of the big visual novel companies are planning to be there. Mangagamer Announcements: The five announcements have been made and info about them can be found below; 1. . Supipara: It is spring time and the main character after returning to his home town now finds himself on the committee for the school beauty contest but the contestants all have their own peculiarities and there is plenty of trouble to go around. This is the first chapter with sales of this doing well eventually getting the second chapter and possibly third chapters translated. This is the next title from Minori and it is all ages. 2. Kindred Spirits: Set in a prestigious all-girls high school, second-year student Yuna mysteriously gains the ability to see and speak with the ghosts of two long-dead former students; spirits which hope to get Yuna's help in setting forth a plan to create a Yuri-topia. This is the next game from Liar-Soft and is an 18+ yuri comedy title. 3. Tokyo Babel: Tokyo Babel begins its tale on the eve of the apocalypse: parallel worlds crumble in succession as the gate of Heaven are closed shut and Hell is irrevocably submerged in water. In a final, desperate attempt to set things right, the surviving angels and demons flock to the soaring purgatory of Tokyo Babel, intent on climbing Jacob's Ladder to reopen the Gate of Heaven and earn divine forgiveness. This is the first Propeller (new partner) title announced at the panel and it is all ages. 4. Pygmalion: There are humanoid 'puppets' in the world who blend into society and manipulate history. However, no one knows where they come from nor who controls them. A game by the famed company Propeller this is an all ages title to be released by Mangagamer in the future. 5. Princess Evangile W Happiness: Fandisc of Princess Evangile composing of 4 after stories for the main heroines and 5 short stories with new heroines. The next game by moonstone this one is apparently in high demand. Sekai Project Announcements 1. Tenshin Ranman: Haruki is a hard-luck guy and trouble seems to always find him. One day he receives a parcel with a creature in it that is to help him remove his misfortune...unfortunately this new housemate may just be another cause of his misfortune. Will he be able to live a fortunate life and exactly what is this she creature's true purpose? Tenshin Ranman is a visual novel by the popular visual novel company Yuzusoft. This is the only all age and 18+ title in Yuzusoft's lineup so we can likely expect both all age and 18+ versions of their future other titles if this sells well. 2. Nenokami: A shoujo ai game by a relatively new amateur studio known as Kuro Irodoru Yomiji. The interesting thing is that this was announced before it was even released in Japan; the release date is Aug 16th 2015 in Japan and will come at a later date by Sekai Project. It seems to be a title with both an all ages version and an 18+ version but Sekai Project have only confirmed the all ages version at this time. 3. Nekopara vol.0: A very short nekopara fandisc released by the visual novel company Neko Soft at the recent comiket this summer. The game is all ages although an artbook bundled with it was 18+. 4. Fault: Silence the Pedant: A prequel visual novel to Fault~Mile Stone One. This visual novel will be about how Ritona became the guardian for Selphine. It is by the company Alice in Dissonance and like other titles in this series is all ages. 5. : 5 Boys with magical powers must transform into womanly witches to fight aliens...this one is going up on Kickstarter in the future. Other Announcements: Magical Girl Chiru Chiru the magical girl spin-off of Grisaia no Kajitsu's trilogy is expected to release next week (end of July/beginning of August). Despite what the image shows the release is not expected to receive a vita release at this time. Caution: There may be some spoilers for the main trilogy (yes all 3 games) so read at your own risk. 2nd Caution: Chiru Chiru was translated by a different translator (not Koestl who is doing the main trilogy) because Frontwing wished to release it a year ahead of time (to coincide with the release of the anime trilogy). G-Senjou no Maou is still planned to be released by the end of Summer. Grisaia no Kajitsu Unrated is expected to be up on Denpasoft by the end of July or August. This next one is not a visual novel but Sekai Project has announced they are getting into the manga market with the Manga of Gate which currently has an anime out right now which is from what people have said inferior to the manga. ~~ Side Note: for those wondering about 18+ versions: Sekai Project has more or less indirectly stated that we can probably expect 18+ versions of most titles with 18+ versions to be released via denpasoft.
  19. Anime Expo runs from July 2nd - 5th in Los Angeles, and all three major english VN publishers will be present and announcing new products. This is the biggest convention of the year for VNs, and contains the highest concentration of new announcements, it's pretty exciting! Here's who will be there and what to expect from them: JAST JAST's panel comes first at 10PM PDT on Thursday. Nobody is really sure what to expect from JAST, but they have claimed that they will be announcing some stuff there. The safe guess is a new Alcot game (moege dev, makers of My Girlfriend is the President and Clover Days), which is something they teased around six months ago. The more far-fetched guess is Muramasa by Nitro+. It seems like this is going to happen eventually, but JAST has also said they want to wait until projects are further along before announcing them, to avoid Hanachirasu and Sumaga incidents in the future. If you're attending, JAST's booth is #1319. And it's over! JAST announced Flowers, an all-ages yuri/mystery VN, for fall 2015 which is kind of crazy since everyone thought MangaGamer would be the ones to handle that. Also SoniComi, which was translated and edited by the power duo of Tulip Goddess Maria and Ritobito, so actually look forward to that "soon". Seinarukana will also be out Fall 2015... supposedly. The Alcot game they teased earlier in the year was a no-show, but JAST seemed to imply that they may have more to announce at Comic-con so there is still hope for the moege lovers out there. Sekai Project SP comes second, their panel is at 7PM PDT on Saturday. I know even less of what to expect from SP than JAST. I believe Key is attending AX as well. I would not be surprised by the announcement of another Key game being licensed, be it LB, Rewrite, or maybe even Angel Beats?? They planned to work with Doki on Clannad before that was dashed by the community's desire for a total retranslation, and Doki teased some Little Busters news sometime this summer, so LB may be the most likely suspect. They will also probably announce some doujin games, as is Sekai Project's habit. Interestingly, they just set up a Japanese twitter account and is tweeting about AX in it. It would be a humorous twist if they announce they'll be translating some OELVNs into Japanese. SP's booth is #1720. Panel summary: Sekai Project continues to impress with their ability to license popular titles. They've managed to grab the highly lucrative Akabei Soft partnership, and will start by releasing G-Senjou no Maou this summer. They've licensed Root Double, a popular survival story made by the director of the Infinity games. They've also announced Chrono Clock for release "soon", which establishes a new partnership with the respected eroge developer Purple Software. Additional news: There will be a remake for the entire Narcissu trilogy, including part 3 in english for the first time, World End Economica Ep. 2 is releasing this month, and Clannad is releasing in November. MangaGamer MangaGamer is last, hosting their panel at 9PM PDT on Saturday. Ryukishi07 of Higurashi and Umineko fame is attending the panel with them, likely to talk about Higurashi's western release. It may be too soon to announce another license deal with him, but who knows, it could happen. MangaGamer has teased four announcements, including three whole new partners. They have separately teased an announcement of a yuri game, and have recently conspicuously posted pictures of SonoHana merchandise at their booth (although they're known to sell goods from completely unrelated VNs). My guess: The one announcement from a current partner is going to be Tsuriotsu from Navel, but really, it could be anything. MG's booth is #919. AND THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE! The big announcement of the MangaGamer panel was their partnership with Alice Soft, starting with Beat Blades Haruka. Other announcements included Himawari, a sci-fi work known in Japan for its intricate storytelling, A Kiss For The Petals - Remember How We Met is an all-ages yuri VN coming to Steam from the popular SonoHana yuri series, and MangaGamer will be updating and releasing the Witch Hunt translation of Umineko for sale, with new character sprites. Other news was that Sweet Sweat in Summer will be out this month, Kara no Shoujo 2 will be out this fall, and they're aiming for an end of 2015 release for Gahkthun. Honorable mentions: Degica is attending and talked about their upcoming Muv-Luv kickstarter, which will go live late August or early September. Aksys Games announced that Zero Escape 3 is in the works and will be available in Summer 2016. So what are you guys excited about? What do you think is going to happen? If you're attending, feel free to talk about your experiences on the show floor, although keep in mind this thread is about visual novels. I will be updating this post as new information comes out. Your wildest dreams didn't come true? Remember, Otakon is later this month and MG and others will have more announcements there, too.
  20. Compiled from the earlier thread Which organization or site has done the most to promote VNs in the West?, now as a poll. This is a thread to discuss the classes of sites and organizations have done the most to promote VNs in the West over the ~25 years or so that VNs have existed in English.
  21. JAST USA created a thread a few months ago to solicit customer feedback on new age distribution options for their games. One of the proposed options was the USB flash drive. I expressed my skepticism at the time, but recently it was announced that Windows 10 would be released on flash drives, quelling my practical concerns about bitrot (Microsoft wouldn't commit to a distribution scheme for something as important as an OS that wasn't thoroughly vetted). Opinions? Alternative ideas?
  22. This is a thread to discuss the sites and organizations have done the most to promote VNs in the West over the ~25 years or so that VNs have existed in English. I might eventually make a poll once the nominations here are in. Here's some candidates off the top of my head: JAST USA / J-List Mangagamer Sekai Project / Denpasoft VNDB Hau Omochikaeri (Micchi's blog) Fuwanovel 4chan Steam Kickstarter YouTube Lemmasoft <insert pirate site here> Personally I think VNDB has made a huge contribution to the growing popularity of VNs. VNDB is essentially the Wikipedia for VNs. It serves as a irreplaceable resource on VNs for the English-speaking community, especially untranslated VNs. It serves as a focal point where information on VNs is aggregated and then disseminated by fans. Before VNDB it was much more difficult to find information on VNs and the knowledge was far more dispersed. Without VNDB I'm not sure the fanbase would've been able to assemble into a cohesive force capable of expanding the audience for VNs. Fan translation may not have caught on and become popularized as it did.
  23. Dang that image is small, anyway this is the project page for my translation of Bittersweet Fools, the first visual novel by Minori. This is a one man project though I am looking for help with proofreading at that stuff. Oh, and I should mention that the security on the original game was too strong so I'm remaking the game in another engine and it will be available on Windows, Android, IOS, Browser and Mac. 25. Don't continue reading if you don't want spoilers about Little Busters EX or the original Little Busters. So I just finished reading Sasami's route in Little Busters EX and this made me bring up a question I didn't ponder before. Do the characters in Little Busters actually ever date? Does all the trouble they go through in the individual routes amount to anything in the real world? We all know that everything that happens in LB happens in an alternative world, but I noticed that, in none of the routes does the game address what happens after the Refrain incident. We never know how the characters are doing in terms of relationships. That was until I read Sasami's route which is set after they recovered from the bus incident, Rikki even mentions the incident during the route. But during this time, Rikki is not dating anyone which means that Rikki and Rin never dated in the first place does it not? Otherwise he's just cheating on her, but I don't think that's plausible. Not only that, but Rikki ends up dating Sasami while he's trapped in her world, yet when he comes back, the story never really addresses if they remember the events or not and we're not sure if they're dating, even though they seem to hint that they do while they're burying the cat. Does this mean Sasami is the true route? Teeku Joking aside, this makes me wonder if all the routes happen in their own worlds, do the relationships never transpose into the real world? During Sasami's route, Rikki talks about how they were trapped in an alternative world after the bus incident, clearly remembering it, so it should be feasible that he remembers his relationship with Rin, yet he's going to end up dating Sasami. Though one can theorize that this only happens when they're trapped in an alternative world and they don't remember it when they're in the real world, but during the Refrain route they seem to recall the things that happened back in the alternative world when they're back. I think that the biggest problem comes mostly from the fact that the story is so incredibly vague when they return to the real world that we're basically left with a huge gaping plot hole that our imagination is supposed to fill in. What do you think? I think Key just doesn't know how to write a story.
