  1. NeoLondonStudios Recruitment I am looking for members for NeoLondonStudios. The strange difference with this studio from most others is that I would like to primarily target somewhat beginners who would never have had a shot being a part of a project any other time. Novices who are willing to put time and effort into this project and are willing to learn and grow their skills are welcomed. But keep in mind that this does not mean just anyone will be accepted into such a Studio. I have to see some works of yours for the role you wish to fill and show that you are dedicated and that you will not just quite in the middle of said project. That being said, this is a nonprofit project and so this is only paid with the gratification of creating something officially. It is all for enjoyment and for the experience. I would also like to not that if you are somewhat experienced and show some interest in the Studio that is ok as well. I would like all to know that this would be a very nice experience and you as well as I will learn and grow our skills. I already have a project that I wish for us to do. But as some of you may know, there are steps to take when it comes to the making of a VN. With that being said, while I will need a full team later on, for right now I am actively looking for writers, a manager, and team leaders. I have described each role so there is no confusion: The writers will help me write the script. This is the key part of a visual novel. Your art can be outstanding and your music can be ok, but without a well-made story, players are sure to not hold your VN in high regards. This will be a long process as the VN will be of medium length meaning around 10 hours of game play so expect a lot of work. Please be dedicated and willing to improve and learn. If you easily give up on things this is NOT the place for you. A manager is the person who manages the group. This is also essential for a VN team. They will set time intervals for each thing to be done. They should know roughly how long it will take for each department and create schedules and such for a more productive team. They will keep track of each team member’s free hours to make a flexible work period. Managers are also part of the recruitment team when it comes time for recruiting more members. The leaders of the team are very important as well. The leaders basically hold the whole team together. The leaders will finalize all decisions and choices. They will have to choose what stays and what goes. The leaders have to be respectful but know that they have to take charge at times. The leaders must also know a little bit about everything having to do with VN production. (Art, Music, Programming, and Writing.) This is because when team members come to the leader for help or a complaint the leaders will know what to do to help resolve the situation. This is an EXTREMELY tough job and will not be handed out lightly. Notice I said team leaders. Meaning more than one. The project is called Jack & Prior and is a mystery/detective, medium length, choice scattered, point-and-click Visual Novel. If you are interested such project and wish to join NLS then please message me. And I will send you a google docs link of the project information.
  2. Heya guys, I'm the lead of a Visual Novel team, and we're looking for new additions to our team to help us create something awesome! Our Project We're listed as a free project, working from our passion in our free time. Our skill levels vary from beginner to highly adept. We have two projects, but are only really actively working on one of them, which isn't publically available yet. We're all in it for the experience, however upon our project reaching a monetizable state, the team members will be rewarded for their work accordingly. We take on a high quality benchmark, and during our "early" development will be very loose on our deadlines and requirements for activity. We'll be releasing a full playable demo, as well as a trailer the same time we release a Kickstarter project as well as a Steam greenlight. All these long term plans depend on the work of our team, which might include you! Roles Background artistYou're someone that has experience creating background artwork and scenery. Experience in 3D rendering would help, but as long as you make awesome stuff, we won't judge how ( Unless it involves some form of live virgin sacrifice, if that's the case, this team isn't a good fit for you ) AnimatorYou're a 2D animator that has experience in an anime style of artwork, or at least managing a lot of elements at once. You'll be joining another animator, to share the work load, and collaborate on openings, chapter animations, ect. Applying If you're keen to get involved, send me a private message here. Please include links to previous works, why you want to get involved, and your Skype ID so we can talk further. I'll be talking to everyone who applies to find the best suit for our team. I look forward to hearing from you guys! ~Jason
  3. I need a artist and musician for my visual novel, The Unknowns Saga vol 3: Physical Cosmology. It will be a sci-fi and rpg mix into modern day earth, it's up to one character to save us all. The story will be 50,000 words or more (code wont count), the characters from volume 0, 1, and 2 are made but volume 3 still needs characters. There is no money involved in the project, i will be doing the programing as well as the writing. Anime is the style i'm looking for but still open to other styles. I also looking for someone who can do BG but if that proves difficulty then i'll try to find some on the internet. I like the music to be BGM with space place into it. there is no need to make it long it just needs to feel like space, the battles feel like its epic. The series 1st anniversary will be december 1 and I want this game to be very special game to look back upon. summary of the story Ie and Thu got the water with the help from Sri, they both landed on earth where water is found everywhere and water for them is much greater than money. Sri told to see Noui the elf like human who knew everything but Noui was busy to help Thu and Ie so they told them where to find water. Unfortunately the directions they were given were confusing to them, they were following other peoples directions which leads them to the ocean that was filled with salt water. Not knowing the water contain salt they try heading home but were never told how, Sri send them back home after 24 hours but they were behind the deadline and were force to give the salt water to the ruler of the 2th dimension. Rock was not happy about the salt water but wonder where the new found water came from, salt is not an element on the 2th dimension. Thu and Ie told the story of how the black hole drag them into Sri world (dimension 4) then again into our world (dimension 3). Rock let them go and order all of her armies to get ready for dimensional war. Ie didn't want Sri and our world to be invaded so try to go back into the same black hole, however it was heavy guard with Rocks army. He had to go back, then he was sent into a wormhole which leads into our world. Crash into a robot that had Noui, over a few minutes later Dark with his followers were sent somewhere in the galaxy. It didn't take long to sent Ie back to his home but was accidently send into Sri world and got the message to Sri, she then close the black hole to stop Rock's army. Finally Sri sent Thu and Ie into the 6th dimension, which Rock is at war with and had a temporary ceasefire. The President, Zoion, heard Ie and Thu story about how there is a world filled with water. Zoion sent his daughter Zixen to have that dimension ally with this one. Back to Rock's world, he used an experimental engine to travel into our world. Dark Unknown has return from his long journey in space and got a new follow to help with his world domination plan. He got knock out by Rock mothership which made him land close to Lena house. Sri felt Rock's travel but also felt Zixen travel at the same time. Both enemies have yet to make contact so Sri has time to get every Unknown (Thu and Ie included) and stop the war. One set back is that the usa army thinks its an invasion from our galaxy, they call on help from ally planets (Seki planet too) which made things a whole lot worse. - How will this game be published? free on, itch.io, Amazon, Amazon app store, indiegamestand.com and possibly more. - I'm o.k if we decide to start before November 1st, I mostly dont care about the time limit or the prize it might offer. - we communite in slack.com or skype but slack is way better. you can find my games here at: http://firecat.itch.io/ the main characters (the whole cast is too long so i only added the 3 characters). thank you for your time, sorry for the bad english.
  4. I am currently looking for capable individuals to fill positions within my production group. This involves artists, composers, web producer/designer, sound designer, programmer, writers, graphics designer, producer, and a co-director. Please take your time to fully read each project pitch and determine for yourself if either are of any interest to you. When you have done that, follow the google form URL located at the very bottom of the post to complete the following application. The application is one of two parts, the second part will come to you individually according to which position you applied for. Think of the first part being interview questions, and the second part is for you to show me what you are capable of bringing to the project. Once the second part has been sent, the results of whether you have been selected will come to you through email after all applicants have been reviewed. *Should you decide against joining the production after you have been selected you are by no means obligated to commit. However, please make that decision before officially taking part in the team.* The projects I currently have planned may be considered within the "concept" stages. However, I have envisioned how each story will progress and made a few outlines for portions of a common route. Island Rakuen(18+) Genres: Mystery, Drama, Romance, Horror It is summer break and college students Shougo and Kyouhei have big plans for vacation. Together, they rent a yacht with the money they saved and invite their friends into the pacific. It would be their last trip before they graduate from students to full-fledged adults. It is also a chance for Shougo to confess to his long-time crush, Toujou Tomoyo. The group sets sail from Tokyo Bay and into the Pacific Ocean when they happen across an uncharted island. Seemingly uninhabited with the exception of heavy vegetative and tropical growth, and a sea teeming with fish the group anchors their yacht and makes camp. Everyone pitches in, building cabins out of branches and leaves, fishing in the ocean for food, gathering the tropical fruits, and hunting the unusually large population of aggressive birds from within the island. They take tests of courage, roast food over a campfire, share dreams and hopes for the future. The place is like a paradise for them. It was a paradise until a tropical cyclone sweeps away their only means of returning home. Stranded, and without means to communicate with the outside world the group of friends' long sought after vacation has become a nightmare. The test of time begins to take its toll on the island's newest inhabitants, and one by one they begin to lose hope of ever returning home. Tomoyo quickly becomes a burden, failing to hold her end of her tasks and earning Maehara Ryouko’s ire. Finger-pointing turns to shoving and opinions to arguments, solidarity crumbles and the group splits into two. Ryouko, having grown impatient seeing Tomoyo pampered for her mistakes and never owning up to her failures takes her own group and leaves. The separation brings temporary peace, but strange things begin to happen at night. A cacophony of howling and laughter sound throughout the island, and each group faces a danger worse than isolation—themselves. Position-specific Notes *Notes here do not reflect that positions in bold above are unneeded. Please fill out application even if your position is not listed in these notes. Writers: Two routes to be written, one for each heroine. Composer: Looking for composers able to play any of the following: Flute, Piano, Ukulele, Percussion. Artists: Sprites (11 characters), CG, Background, Title Screen, UI. Programmer: Capable working with and have experience in Ren'py or other visual novel software. Design UI, title screen, Configuration screen. Sound Designer/Editor: Generate and create sounds and noise for purpose of immersion. (IE- birds, ocean waves, motor, SFX, etc) Additional Notes 1. Potentially Short-Medium in length. 2. As the 18+ tag implies, this story will contain content for the mature audience. Anyone under the age of 18 will not be permitted to participate in this production. Wraiths of Ivarholdt Genres: Drama, Fantasy, Action, Kael Craster is the leader of the band of sellswords called the Wraiths of Ivarholdt. Seven years ago when the clan was originally called the Ivarholdt Raiders, Kael was but a junior member in the clan having been taken in after he was orphaned during the Michar-Forissimo War. He had known bliss and love from his fellow clan mates until one day the Wraiths were indiscriminately hunted and slaughtered by orders of the king himself. Kael and Darrik were the only survivors, having been absent from the camp for a hunting trip. Present day, the war has ended in an armistice and Kael has peacefully rebuilt his clan, naming it the "Wraiths of Ivarholdt" in honor of his former comrades. However, that peace is short lived. News of the hermit King Michar leaving his castle to negotiate a treaty with King Forissimo reaches Kael’s ears. It is an opportunity he would not let go. Revenge begins to stir in Kael's mind and little do his new clan mates know their lives have now become a means to commit regicide. Enter Wiles Tressante, the protagonist of our journey and the Wraiths’ newest member. He is a spy from the neighboring kingdom and ward of King Forissimo tasked with kidnapping the daughter of King Michar. Life with the Wraiths becomes like a dream to Wiles. He finds within them camaraderie he’s never shared and a family he’s never had. His mission becomes a distant memory to him. But as the nature of Kael’s true intentions grow more visible, the tenuous accord between each member begins to shatter. Wiles discovers that he isn’t the only one with something to hide. Old grudges open new wounds, the tangles of lies tighten, and the very person he is supposed to be looking for may not exist at all. Position-specific Notes *Notes here do not reflect that positions in bold above are unneeded. Please fill out application even if your position is not listed in these notes. Writers: Six routes, common route. Composers: Looking for composers able to play any of the following: Flute, Piano, Percussion, Violin, Sing (chorale), cello. Artists: Sprites (Six main characters) (~15+ supporting/side characters), CG, Background, Title Screen, UI. Programmer: Capable working with and have experience in Ren'py or other visual novel software. Design UI, title screen, Configuration screen. Sound Designer/Editor: Generate and create sounds and noise for purpose of immersion. (IE- sword clash, walking, fire, SFX, etc) Additional Notes 1. Potentially Long-Very Long in length. 2. The routes withinWraiths of Ivarholdt will not branch. They will be "arcs" and follow right after the other. In other words, it will follow one large linear path with multiple arcs, one focusing on each character. The story is designed this way such that, unlike traditional otome/bishoujo, the characters will experience the impact of the arcs preceding them. 3. Depending on the success of this visual novel and the continued commitment of the production group I intend for a sequel. 4. Kickstarter/Crowd Funding TBD Specific Recruitment Directors and Writers to work on genres: Otome, horror, comedy, skit, mystery eroge(18+). 7. Project Introduction Hello there. Here is my first ever VN project/ I have been working on a story of mine for about a year and recently decided to get involved seriously about it. I have been working on several parts of the project, being a director, developer, scenarist, writer & game designer at the same time. I like it though. The team has been working a lot since we got together & we're lacking a GUI designer. We're planning on advertising our project at Japan Expo in Paris (3 to 5 of July), and we are working on a promotional video for it. "In a world where nuclear energy has the upper hand in everything and the sky has been obstructed by pollution, a part of humanity still hopes in finding happiness. As the country is being cracked between the military forces of the police and the mafia, a new social class is born. Neo Aristocrats, as they call themselves, pretend that the current reality exists only because of humanity's love for evolution and consumption. Imprisoned in gigantic cities made solely for themselves, they keep refusing reality and focus their whole life on studying ancestral traditions and cultures. Ethan, an average yet shrewd Neo Aristo student, lives a happy but unnaturally repetitive life with his friends. Weeks pass with no change. Everything gets overwhelmed when he meets the likes of Alice, a beautiful yet mysterious girl. Ethan will learn that his life has never been what he thought it was and will eventually discover the true face of it." Promotional Song [instrumental version - Work in Progress] - Vocal version will be released with our Promotional video ONLY ! -> Download it here Language : English (French, German, Portuguese and Japanese translations planned). 8. Hope this is in the right place - if not, let me know and I'll move it. Long time lurker coming out of his shell, so please let me know if I'm breaking forum etiquette V_V Anyways, hey all! My Name is Kevin, and I'm here to look for writers for a project me and a few others have been working on! Here's a demo video to get things rolling. Edit 2: Demo is up! Edit 3: We have a writer! Many thanks for all the people who applied, and to all those who commented/gave us feedback. We'll be sure to keep you guys updated on the project as it matures in the coming months! Download link (40mb): http://www.mediafire.com/download/y1kb4 ... .4_win.rar Only windows build up for now, working on mac port Notes about the Demo: Once again, I must stress the fact that we don't have a writer (which I suppose is kinda the point). As such, expect the writing to be fairly dodgy, as it was put together by a bunch of artists and a programmer. The build is intended purely as a tech demo demonstrating the capabilities of our system - I'm sure the writers out there can already envision better uses for it! Optimization for lower-end computers is still on-going, so it might lag a bit on older laptops/desktops. If you guys find any bugs with the build, or have any comments, please let us know! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHiQ8veXLns : D pretty snazzy eh? For the more astute, you can see the influences we've drawn from studios SHAFT and Trigger in particular. Project Ven What is Project Ven? We like to call it "a visual novel on crack" (You can see that we're not very good with words - probably why we need a writer). Our goal is to make a visual novel that demonstrates the capabilities of the medium to a mainstream audience, while remaining relevant to existing fans of the genre. Examples of some of the elements we are exploring: Player agency and its role in dictating narrative pacing and content Usage of textual and visual assets in complementary ways Page/link system ala Twine Kinetic typography Experimental rendering systems to simulate 2d "hand-drawn" animations Exploration of space as a narrative device While it's still too early to spill the beans on all the stuff we have planned (nCart rendering system I'm looking at you), suffice to say we have a lot of exciting stuff coming - all of which you can follow throughout the coming months on this blog. Our studio: Title pending The team behind it all. In the latter half of 2014, a group of nerds got together and asked themselves the question: why haven't visual novels grown as a medium since its 2000s heydays? Compared to other "niche" genres such as voxel games, rogue-likes and simulators, the genre hasn't seemed to have progressed as much, and still remains a budding industry in the West. While we salute the folks at Dischan Media, Freebird Games, and Sekai Project - examples of companies that have made great strides in furthering the genre - we remain deeply dissatisfied at the state of the medium, for we know that it's true potential has barely been touched. So we decided to do it ourselves, and that is how Project Ven came to be. Overtime, we have formulated the following Manifesto: Expand and evolve Visual Novels as a medium for a universal audience. Explore new ways in which Visual Novels can be used as a story-telling medium. Raise the quality bar for Visual Novels not only in the West, but worldwide. I hope it doesn't sound too presumptious - but we really want to (like Fuwas' tagline) "Make Visual Novels Popular in the West". We need a Writer! We have the technical know-how. We have the visuals down-pat. We have the programmer, the designer, the artist, the animator…but we're still missing one crucial element - the writer. This is why we have created this "tech demo": not only to show what we want to do, but to show what we can do - the capabilities of the team and the quality we are aiming for. So if you're a writer interested in creating a high-quality, "next-gen" visual novel, please apply! What we are looking for: Fast and loose writing: Due to the nature of our game, you will be expected to create a large number of text assets - however, you will also be given a large amount of creative freedom in what you write: as can be seen in our demo, we have anything from poems, jokes, anecdotes, screenplays, to recipes. Collaboration: As fellow creatives we understand the pain of having to compromise your vision. That being said, a few of us on the team are also quite keen on the world-building and character design aspects of the game, so be ready for some collaboration! That being said, for our project the story trumps all, so don't be afraid of having to compromise due to artistic or technical constraints - it will be our job to match the story. Volume: We must once again stress the importance of speed: specifically, we're looking at around 180 pages of work (100 pages for the main script, 80 for all the side stories/objects) in 4 months, leaving 2 months for polish/QA. Setting Though the plot and setting of the game has not yet been finalized, we are currently leaning towards magic realism as the genre. We are also steering away from romance; this is due to a variety of reasons, but mainly due to oversaturation from existing works. Scope We wish to start off by testing the grounds with a smaller project: our goal is to release a ~1 hour long novelette within 6 months. The system and pipeline has already been set up for easy integration with text assets - the bulk of the work will not be integration but creation and editing. By aiming for a smaller release we can also focus on quality of execution and polish. The fast release will also let us know on how to progress with the eventual "larger" game, depending on how the initial release goes. Finances We are working with a revenue share model. (Most of us are just students or recent graduates). That being said, we plan to apply for various funding bodies such as the Indiefund & Film Victoria - if any funding is successful, all members of the team will immediately get a share of the funding. For anyone interested in the position, please include an example of previous work you have done. As we are on an extremely tight schedule, please contact us by the 23rd of March. Look forward to the demo, which should be up by this Thursday Friday - apologies for the delay - we realised the submission deadline for the competition is Friday, so will use this opportunity to polish it up further. Feel free to contact us about if you have any questions, or simply ask us below! (I'll be sticking around) email: [email protected] twitter: @projectven blog: http://projectvn.blogspot.com.au/
