Deep Blue reacted to Ramaladni in The Lack of Choices in Swan Song and Why I Prefer VNs with Many Choices
I understand your preference for these type of works (VNs with plenty of choices), as this medium distinguises itself by how much agency is given to the player through forking paths and alternate endings, and it is surely one of the main draws of the medium. However, I believe that agency can be given in different ways other than choices. For example, Umineko is engaging because the many different elements come together to draw you into the atmosphere and it gives you a mystery to solve, while Swan Song forces you to think by yourself by presenting you with the idea of how people and society as a whole would change if they were thrust into catastrophe. How would your own life change if the rules and guidelines that keep society together had no one to uphold them?
In fact, I dislike VNs with too many choices. They can often be meaningless and obscure your path towards reaching your desired ending. I'm not talking about games like Canvas 2 where you're presented, with dozens, hundreds of choices, but perhaps games like Clannad and Kara no Shoujo that leave you wondering how a seemingly meaningless choice you made many hours ago happened to lead to a Bad End. Thus, perhaps I'd say I'd rather have no choices than bad choices if that's the alternative.
In conclusion, I think a balance is necessary, and choices should exist if they make sense in the story, not just for the sake of being there. Either way, hope you enjoy Swan Song, it's one of my favorites.

Perhaps it's possible to enjoy this if you listen to all the heroines with Horie Yui's voice. Too bad that she didn't get anything decent to voice, huh.
Also, amazing video. Everyone, please be sure to check it till the end...

One of those VNs that uses most (if not everything) of the writers creative energy right at the start.
The good points first: The protagonist is smee-Tier of selfconscious shit-talking derailment. Ever wondered what would happen if your generic idiot protagonist would be idiotic on purpose? Here you have it. And Nami is as good if not better than him.

But the eff-ing EFFFFF-ing forced drama... while the psycho stalker is just an overused clichee, the other two routes are just... stupid is too weak a word for the insults that are the climax of the route. And don't even get me started on the so called "True End". This one made the fanfic that was Re:LieFs True End look like something Kafka and Goethe wrote together by putting their every essence into it.
    I mean seriously,

I will give you a like just for your endurance and perseverance, if you are 20 hours in and you haven't finished the one room class part... well on the bright side you have countless hours ahead of you to keep practicing your Japanese so がんばれ! (it gets easier with time, you won't notice at first but it does)

You got everything ok until that part so keep it up! You have a long journey ahead of you so good luck.

Bethley and Yuzuki are the easiest routes to read probably (specially bethley's)
Hinata's route is probably the hardest but funniest (I will create a blog one of these days to talk about her route and momiji)
The choices to pick a girl are really easy to spot (only 2 of them matter, the rest are meaningless)

I've only read a tiny bit of it so far (because I read very slowly - I need to look up basically every kanji), so I'll probably be stuck reading this for a while.

My opinion? I didn't know much about this here because I'm still not play this yet (Duh). But at least I knew that for Tone's Work VNs here the CG was the one that had most variation here, for example I'd found more than 10 or more variation for one sex scene CG here (I checked Hoshiori on some CG viewer site though, not this one). For more information here, even SLIGHTLY change in expression count as one variation for CG here, while many VN here didn't care about that. Other than that, not care much although maybe because just recently Visual Arts expressed interest to Western market, maybe this game had chance for localization (Or it could be Hoshiori too).

They added only the omake which - and this is just my opinion of omake in general - is garbage   I liked it the original art style better, now a fully voiced version that would have been a nice add-on totally worth paying even on pc..
Didn't know this novel existed https://vndb.org/v2677 I will give it a try one of these days

It's meant to be used as 1 little capsule for 1 coffee, if you buy a pack of let's say 24 then you can make 24 coffee, the normal coffee "sizes" are lungo 140-110ml, expresso 40-60ml and ristreto 25-30ml, I don't of any brand of coffee that makes capsules where you can make an starbuck size coffee, you will need to use coffee grounds and another type of coffee machine for that.
There are some brands that say that you can fill it like 180ml but it will be watery as shit (you will need to use 2 capsules for that)
    These are however really big
"If you have the option to choose a brew size, choose “Small Cup” (5.25 oz.), “Small Mug” (7.25 oz.), or “Large Mug” (9.25 oz.) based on the size of your cup or mug." 9.25oz = 275ml O.o I never knew something like these existed.
    I use nesspresso and dolce-gusto

I'm just going to say one thing: long live the dots! xD

btw the Japanese language is really smart, you don't have to type the 3 dots separately (which takes a lot of time and it's really bothersome ), it comes in a bundle of 3 "…" , it saves time and you asure yourself of putting the right amount of dots every single time, now if you want 2 or some of its multiples then you can't use them
    ………

EDIT:I was wrong, they do have it  ‥
