  1. Well, yeah, you have a right to complain. That doesn't mean your words are justified. Has any of the insistent whining against SP ever changed anything /shrug There are more, just that none of them feel like wasting their time doing stuff like this anymore because it's a pointless endeavor. Well, sure I could criticize them for things, but 90% of the things people criticize them for are completely asinine things that would never generate any controversy had it happened from JAST or MG. At this point the people that hate them only specifically look for reasons to hate them more instead of trying to think things through rationally.
  2. Are you an expert on payment processors for pornographic material? No? Okay, then stop talking. It's fine to be discontent, but whining and complaining that they're all stupid and don't know how to run a company doesn't change anything.
  3. The reason I remain skeptical is because AGM did the translation for Harmonia, which turned out to be fairly mediocre. Shuffle probably wouldn't be ruined, but OreTsuba and Tsuriotsu contain things much more difficult to translate. OreTsuba has flowery passages (like below), and Harmonia's biggest problem was the narration. Tsuriotsu has puns, and jokes based on Japanese speech patterns, which average translators will always screw up on. I wouldn't really welcome a localization group that dishes out translation quality on the level of funimation. Also, the Shuffle essence+ version apparently contains all the added content in this release, plus more, and h-scenes. This whole thing seems kind of... pointless honestly (people whine about companies licensing titles that already have existing fan-tl patches, but here they literally licensed a title that's been released before in English... officially). I don't know what caused Navel and Mangagamer to split up, but it's like they're basically just going to rerelease all the stuff they've already released, which is... a very wonderful prospect, considering people have been wanting Navel's newer titles for years now.
  4. - No, I'd expect the script to be in "English". Liberal doesn't mean Americanized, but literal oftentimes means leaving phrases that sound unnatural in because it's in the "original". Not to mention any professional translator would laugh at you if you told them to purposefully make a literal translation in addition to a more liberal one. - If I'm interested in the game, also physicals go a long way in getting people to buy something. After all, you can't pirate a physical copy of a game. -No, not really. Though I guess I don't know if Chinese law would come into play with ability to localize certain types of games (loli, etc). -If it's something I've played, chances are I wouldn't buy it again, unless it had a physical release. Also Majikoi is far from a decent translation if you're counting the parts done by Yandere translations. I would have a fit if anyone localized that and didn't heavily change the sections done by them. -If it's big enough, sure? But of course, it would have to be a really big time event for me to even consider spending the large amounts of money it would take to fly off to China. -I don't care about a steam version. I only buy steam versions of all-ages only games since it's easy and convenient. -Sure. Not that I could just find most dakimakuras on action sites, but why not if it's a reasonable price. -Buying only really hinges on whether I want something or not, but regardless it's a generous thing to do, so if you can, sure go for it.
  5. Wouldn't be the first time. Debonosu games are basically nukige and they've tried putting their shit on steam for low-effort cash grabs. Also there was that one company that tried to put their game about a masturbation club on steam greenlight... if anyone remembers that shit show...
  6. Uh, no they haven't? There's a big difference between "saying nothing" and saying they have a solution which they think will satisfy everyone. The fact that they say this pretty much means all of the games h-scenes will be available through some manner to people that want them.
  7. Eh, kickstarter fatigue has at least kicked in to a degree that failure is a very real possibility unless you have a title everyone and their mom wants and loves. The flexible funding might still make indiegogo a viable option, but I don't think many publishers will want to be reliant on kickstarter to fund the brunt of localization costs. They're pretty much no worse than any other publisher. Still miles ahead of the average fan-translation.
  8. Just like you said, most of them are canonically older than their appearance tells you, which isn't the case with Kokoro. Also there's the fact that none of them have rape scenes.
  9. I didn't really have a problem with any of the CGs as much as I did the narration. The one scene that stood out in particular was the scene with Sister whatsherface in the water. There was like 30 some odd lines of Suoh just commenting on every single inch of her body. It felt a little awkward to say the least.

Of course, they themselves even admit they've made mistakes, and they do address a lot of things, just that a lot of times when they reach out to websites like here and reddit they're met with hostility and people just being plain rude, so they stop seeing as how their's not much point in it. Most of people's "complaints" about them nowadays are just vestiges from around their starting, and people looking for excuses to keep up that hatred. That's why you had people make up the whole thing with Shiny Days, why you had people misinterpret that tweet from a Giga rep to go around and complain that Baldr for sure isn't getting an uncensored version. Also funnily enough you mention that they somehow broke a promise that they'd give information about 18+ versions at Otakon, which they never said. All the said was at a later convention after there wasn't enough time at AX, and surprise, it looks like they're planning to give this information at AWA. The only real complaint I can see is that they don't pursue mosaics and their lack of communication. In the case of mosaics it's more than likely they don't see it as a wise enough investment to spend money on decensoring CGs (remember, it isn't as simple as just receiving the CGs from the JP dev and putting them in the game). As far as communication goes, most of the things they remain silent on are things the community starts to run wild speculating about regarding games that are still far off from release, so chances are they don't really care, because the concerns will be addressed closer to when the game is ready for release. Kickstarter rewards aren't released on time, because surprise, Kickstarters for anything almost never get released on time. So, no, I don't see a problem with that as long as they keep people reasonably informed. By backing a Kickstarter, you should know full well what you're getting yourself into, and the fact that the date in which you'll get what you payed for is basically anyone's guess. All in all, you can still have complaints against them without having to hate them. See, that's the difference between Sekai and other publishers. When JAST or MG slip up, you don't have people calling for their heads, spewing awful remarks, calling for boycotts of all of their products. Except in Shiny Day's case, though. People bitch and complain that Sekai is too slow translating their stuff, yet people somehow are able to wait patiently for MG or JAST titles that take even longer to get to release (Da Capo III, Sumaga, etc). Regarding the whole nutaku, 18+ thing, that's because dissenters have deluded themselves into thinking they're somehow anti-18+. I know I've been told personally that they pursue 18+ version for every title, and that the only instances in which they release a title without one is when it's a request from the developer. Almost every Japanese VN includes rape scenes with middle school girls? Wow, I must be missing something. Also, it really pisses me off when people use wording like they "took it" away. Nobody "took" anything from anyone. This had been discussed for well over a year before the announcement, and both parties were perfectly happy with how things turned out. If anything, I would want them to release my fan projects officially. The translation just for your information wasn't "finished" in April, it still has to be QCed (which is going on right now) and then another TLC pass on it.
  11. People misconstrued this without even checking anything. The staff for Shiny Days, not School Days, was made up of part of the same crew that did the original (whom started Sekai Project), but not entirely the same. For example, Peter explicitly mentions a translator, yet if you check the credits, you'll see the translator isn't the same as in the first, and is someone not even affiliated with Sekai at all. And even then, there's no reason to bash someone for taking it safe when having their name on the credits for a game that involves the main character raping a middle school girl might get them in legal trouble in their country of residence. It's not because someone was super "stingy" about ero content, or that Sekai Project's original staff have some vendetta against sex content, in fact the Days games are pretty sex-heavy games, so I can't see them starting a fan-project for something like that if they refused to touch sex scenes. Well, they have no reason to like or even care about the population of fans that scream down their throat at every little opportunity that presents itself. They obviously don't make a dent on sales, so there's no reason for them to actively seek out to explain perfectly legitimate decisions to people who aren't going to change their mind. It's just like the asshats that always complain when a fan-translation goes official (no this isn't actually limited to Sekai Project). I have no reason to explain to them why it's a good decision, because if they'd rather translators work for free so that they can get a game slightly faster, then I don't see any point in trying to change their mind. These people don't have any significant effect on localization sales.
  12. There happens to be this wonderful metric called the proper usage of the English language? And you say his line of thinking is toxic, but quite frankly the kind of blind worship people around these parts have for literally anyone who attempts a translation, entirely regardless of quality, is what is more toxic. The way communities evolve, and get better at their craft isn't by giving people a gold star and telling them they're great just for literally trying. Like, hell, imagine where sports would be if people never thought to get better, and just accepted their level of skill when they were say in middle school. Nobody is telling anyone they can't and never will be able to do something, just that people ought to realize their own limitations at the present and not do something that they quite frankly are not cut out to do. By putting out a god awful translation for a game you're essentially stepping all over it, which should bother you if you have any amount of respect for it at all. If you care about a game, should you not want people to get a decent, enjoyable experience out of playing it? Do you not see how it would greatly hamper an English readers experience if you spit out barely coherent sentences? I mean, if you want to translate, all power to you, but you should strive for a damn higher quality than the level of horse shit found in the Flyable Heart translation. And if you know you can't put out a decently respectable level of translation quality, you should wise up and stop.
  13. If someone who couldn't write grammatically correct English sentences wanted to write a book in English, would you say they should? If you don't know English well enough to write common sentences without making errors, you shouldn't be doing creative writing. Period. Chances are the person will just quit some point, after realizing that translating isn't as easy they think it is, like the majority of other fan-translations. The number of actual finished projects with terribly bad English quality are very, very few, and practically all of them get disregarded by the community (for good reason) so you're doing nobody a service. If somebody was okay with that level of quality they could literally just install VNR and read the game with the automatic translations on and replicate the same thing to a good enough extent.
  14. The money required to do both isn't something they'd be able to reach based on Eden and Ef sales alone, which is probably why.

It's not really that their games are as a whole better than any other developers, but they're kind of mindlessly fun, don't have any serious deep plot to them, so you can just enjoy the characters and the setting. They're really formulaic too, so fans always know what they're going to get out out of their games each year.

  19. Just for clarification, that person worked on 2236 AD. When they finished working on that they got put on Tenshin Ranman (probably because they want the game out faster).
  20. So you just want them to fire all the translators that don't work as fast as you want them to? Maybe you should manage the company then. I'm sure they'd be able to get work out at a much faster rate with 2-3 translators. The problem with some of the translations has to do with the fact that they started late. Wagahigh probably got off to a late start because, you know, the game didn't even release in Japan until this year. They probably waited until then or shortly before to begin translating it. Chrono Clock apparently they spent an assload of time sorting out engine problems (not that I would've waited on translation because of that, but it is what it is) and Tenshin Ranman had one of the planned translators quit abruptly (which is naturally going to set it off pace). Mangagamer and JAST have had plenty of translations run at a slow rate. Let's not forget that it took 3 years to translate all of Da Capo III, yet nobody's hounding them over their decision to not assign another translator to it. The WEE thing was an issue stemming from the fact that the existing translation for the first part wasn't done by them, and the translator that worked on for Mangagamer was fired by them for being mediocre. I have no idea what happened to it after that, except for the one translator they assigned to it but later replaced. To my knowledge that's the only time something like that's happened so there's no need to crucify them over it.
  21. Most of their translations are outsourced anyways. Not to mention translation is always done by individuals, not the organization as a whole. If a translation is going at a slow rate then that's because the people working on it don't translate as fast as others you're comparing them to.
  22. Everyone else assumed they would, that doesn't mean they themselves did. Besides, pointless speculation like this is stupid. Just because company A and B did X doesn't mean company C will too, or for that matter, that there's any chance at all of them doing that.
