Did I tell you to go create a Steam account or I'd cut your head off, you godless infidel? You don't want to use Steam, that's fine by me. No sweat off my back. An indie game developer doesn't want to use Steam? Same thing - doesn't bother me at all. What's bothersome is you don't seem to understand capitalism and branding.

I mean it can be literally anything biological related, including any field: medicine or naturalist.  I'm positive there are moe girls riding whales or yanderes holding syringes.
I'm at campus right now, so using an image aggregate isn't the greatest idea, but I had more hope that we could come up with some excellent things.

If it happens by chance/accident and you don't viciously stare then it's an accident and there's nothing you or her can do about it. If she's visually embarrassed or upset though after she noticed, apologizing might be a good idea even if it wasn't something you could control. If she's not then just let it go.
Reactions also heavily depend on who it is and what kind of relationship they have with you (read: don't look at stranger's underwear).
One of my friends had a bikini slip when we were at the pool and literally everyone there saw her chest. She quickly fixed it and we all went back to normality after the initial embarrassment faded. In most accident scenarios, this is what probably happens if you're all good friends with no ulterior motives.
If you're purposely looking at someone's underwear though, you should probably stop because that's, well, a crime. (See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_harassment)

Let me see if I can help you here:
    1. Steam, regardless of your pounding away at the keyboard, is the best-known online outlet for downloading video games along with extras specific to the site. Meaning online play with others, the weird rewards system, etc. It has the potential to deliver a bigger impact or chance of success than a typical indie developer can get on their own. Comparing Amazon to Steam is silly - you're comparing a convertible to an oak tree. Your list of other websites is nice, and there's nothing wrong with putting your game on them, either. Just don't expect to hear most people to know or care about that site as compared to knowing Steam. Know why there are people with the annoying habit of calling all mp3 players iPod or all soft drinks Coke? Brand name recognition. Heck, ever say "I need a Band-Aid" at all? Band-Aid is a brand name for what's really an adhesive medical strip. Power of brand name. Steam has the potential for your game to get out there better because it has that sort of brand power.
    2. Steam is part of a capitalistic society at large. Meaning being on Steam is no guarantee for success for anyone. It's a potential tool or resource, but nothing in capitalism is guaranteed. Will developers fail even using Steam? Of course. They can also fail having it listed on Amazon or their own home page. But it does have potential for greater success than just hosting it on a makeshift website.
    3. What you're basically trying to say is, because some developers did not do well on Steam, it must suck and everyone who likes Steam must be a brainwashed zombie. Problem is that there are so many other factors as to why a game fails anywhere - economics 101, really. Supply and demand, product quality, marketing, etc. Blaming Steam for a developers game not taking off is like blaming the President for high gas prices.

I think the best part about all of this is that while firecat is trolling us, we are trolling him for being a troll, which makes it that much more pleasant.

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

What I got from this thread is that Valve and Steam have psychic abilities and are brain washing people.
    >Do you believe gaves really do have x million players?
Yes. And even if all these millions of players stopped playing the game after some years, the company who made the game still made a butt load of money.
I don't know why you think it's so impossible for a game to sell millions of copies and have a really large user base.
    >We talked to a psychologist
Well I talked to a drunk guy on the street, it's his word against yours mate.
    >people tend to stay on steam for the game but thats because they brought the game
    Well no fucking shit.
How is this a bad thing?
Just because you need to own Steam to play games does not, in any way, shape or form mean Steam is a bad platform.
    >Steam is making better and newer games while still making players have unplayed brought games.
So fucking what? People choose to buy whatever they want, even if they don't play it.
The act of buying is what supports a product, not the act of playing it after you buy it.
I love the fact that you think Steam putting out new products while they already have tons of other products is somehow a bad thing. Seriously, do you even market?
    >certain people believe that everyone use steam (which no one can prove)
I won't say literally everybody uses Steam, but it's undeniable that Steam has a huge chunk of the online gaming market and gaming community.
Your denial of this by simply saying "no one can prove it" is absolutely retarded and ignorant.
    >i know people from other countries and they dont know what steam application is, they thought it was something to do with steam.
Well good thing Google exists where you can learn what Steam is.
Did you know I didn't know what Youtube was in middle school? Youtube is evil confirmededededed!!!11!!
    >Google is where the answer can be found, steam's keywords involved "steam, valve, greenlight, and (english game here)" but not native words
That's because it would be really retarded for "Steam" to pop up when you search for vapor on Google.
You need to understand the company name "Steam" is a PERSONAL NOUN, IT'S NOT MEANT TO BE TRANSLATED.
When you talk about Youtube to other people do you translate the word "You" and "Tube" into your native language? Unless you're retarded, you don't, because it's a company name just like Steam and Valve.
    >another thing, since 95% of steam games are english (indie games included) many international users feel like its not for them. thats right, steam is not friendly to many well known gaming markets.
I'd like to know about these "many international users", because English is a widely spoken language and even with the most basic of English skills a person can enjoy a regular game.
When I was a kid I played pokemon in English despite not knowing anything about English.
I don't know why anyone would feel like something is not for them just because "it's in English". Also Steam's front page exists in many different languages, making Steam very accessible to foreigners who don't know anything about English. Just because the games themselves are English does not mean the store isn't foreigner friendly.
TL;DR You seem to have an irrational grudge with Steam which I'd love to understand but all you seem to say about it is crazy conspiracy theories with absolutely no data to back it up.

In the context of all games on pc where we click anything.

    A good question.
Telltale games to my knowledge makes exclusive episodic point-and-click side stories to existing IPs. The games are mostly seeing a story play out in full audio and some freedom to roam around and use a combination of quick time events with number of options (to add pressure to your choice). They are the opposite of a novel. They are far more game oriented. VNs have a more measure side. Taking your time to read and enjoy whatever it is.

One key point is that I have never seen a telltale game for a brand new exclusive unique story. Thats not to say they can't, but that's uncharted water they are not willing to try because logic.
However, people who've played games like Ace Attorney are more likely to try out VNs just by the general knowledge of what makes a VN with the execution of Ace Attorney's VN qualities, and even just by the restrictions ACe Attorney had by the aspects that werent exactly VN.
    Allow me to explain:
Ace Attorney is 80% text based and you read everything. THe only thing you dont always read is the evidence. But because Ace Attorney is more of a graphic adventure, it doesnt have an over branching story. INstead it offers one legitimate way to proceed.
Ace Attorney however demanded critical thinking and but no shortcuts or harder ways to succeed or the legitimate option of failing. As a VN or at least closer to one, Ace Attorney would offer crazy ammount of replayability.

ANd im positive players saw VNs a little lighter by what Ace Attorney offered. Plus witty and surprising characters.

back to telltale games. I see VNs able to succeed in what telltales does. Although extremely popular, telltale games does get some flak. But it succeeds because it executes well on finding its market. Thry target popular IPs and tease their players with mystery behind the games.
I can see VNs working in the sense that just like theres a telltale game for every popular IP, there can be a VN for every different type of person, so long as that the person can tolerate some of the core aspects. IT works for telltale games.

Specific definitional arguments about pretty much anything are generally both fruitless (nobody can agree, because, for example, the Platonic ideal Visual Novel doesn't exist) and useless (they won't actually inform the situation).
Here's a more useful phrasing of the question to argue: is the experience of playing a Telltale Games release similar enough to the experience of playing a visual novel that people who enjoy the former will likely also enjoy the latter? If arguing for, ideally present a VN with a substantially similar experience (differences, if any, should be reasonably excusable as not central to the experience); if arguing against, present differences vs. all other VNs that make for a substantial enough change in the experience as to render it not enjoyable for the (rather large) western audience for Telltale Games. The former case is probably quite a bit easier than the latter, but, well, that's the nature of the argument here... I've actually never played a game by Telltale Games before, so I offer no argument either way.

In fact I am currently printing your last post out and plan to show my friends in the office tomorrow! Please do me a favor and send me a link to the article when you get the chance! The moments that we had during the last 3 pages is proof that a small group of people who are logically stating their opinions in an average vocal volume, can indeed overpower a single person who is ejecting large, illogical, masses of beliefs, using an above average vocal volume.
