Magicflier reacted to Keisuke in .txt.scn decryption
There doesn't appear to be a difference between .ks.scn and .txt.scn in terms of what you have to do to extract them.
Download offzip and use the following command to decompress the .txt.scn file and produce the PSB file:
offzip <inputfile> <outputfile> 8
Example: offzip somefile.txt.scn somefile.txt.scn.psb 8
Monobeno SCN to PSB Example (run offzip_to_psb.bat)
At this point, you will need some kind of PSB file parser to extract the text data.
Here's a text sample that was extracted and formatted using my own makeshift PSB file parser/text extractor:
Monobeno Sample Text Extraction
As far as finding reliable PSB parsing/repackaging tools, I'd recommend contacting someone like binaryfail, who knows this territory better than I.

Using this tool,
http://dnrv2.cyriaca.net/makuta/projects/hello/hate2.exe
How to use,
Open CMD on hate2 folder
Then type:
hate2 "input file" "output folder" (without quotes)
hate2 X:\img.dat X:\img (example)
And voila!
Nb: maybe you need turn off your antivirus, in some case, they treat as fake detection.
Good luck!

Magicflier reacted to Happiness+ in An Update on the Fan-TL of Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate
Thank you so much for your update. I wish more Fan-TL projects updated more frequently, it seems that they loose steam and vanish into the ether. Aka burnout from translating. The VN community needs more translators, they really are the unsung heroes who birthed the visual novel fandom into existence. Without JVNs being translated, forgot the EVN renaissance, we would all be anime, manga, or hell even light novel fans.
I can join you, but I am only an English only pleb that cannot read Japanese. if nobody hasn’t said this to you yet, I will.
You’re awesome!

Magicflier got a reaction from Happiness+ in An Update on the Fan-TL of Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate
Hey, anyone remember this fan-translation project? The one initially picked up, translated, and then dropped by VL Translation Team. Then later picked up by yours truly? As the project leader who picked up this partial translation, here are some updates(if you can call it that) regarding this stalled fan-TL project.
People have constantly signed up for this project as translators and editors for this project, but it only lasts after they work on a portion of a script or two. Either I lose contact with said members, they mysteriously disappear from existence, or that they forever excuse themselves from the project b/c of personal issues. From there for the next two years it was left to gather dust in the corners of an HDD.
I still have all required files on hand and editing isn't really a big issue, so translation is all that's left. The problem now is that every year the expectations of a translation quality has been growing, and considering that KoiTate was translated by a mishmash of different translators, I cannot assure the quality of translation. It also makes me reconsider if I should even see it's completion just to be criticized by players who can understand the Japanese language of how bad the translations are. Of course, the translations for KoiTate shouldn't be THAT bad, but people even expect a lot out of even a fan-translation in recent years. Even though now I have the ability to translate work, I have no plans whatsoever on re-translating KoiTate. If anyone wants to succeed this project and bring it to fruition, contact me. I will do my best to give you all details on what is leftover through discussions on discord. If not, this project will remain in my hands as I slowly edit in a line or two on my whims every now and then.
Thank you for reading!

Magicflier reacted to Clephas in An Update on the Fan-TL of Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate
The reason I suggest taking this approach is that many good tlcs are also burnouts (experienced but tired of translating), so they won't reliably commit for long projects, but many of them are good people, so they'll probably be willing to answer questions or make suggestions on problematic scenes/lines in a private chat.
Also, I'd suggest having a tlc solely go over the combat/battle of wits scenes to make sure they are actually consistent, since that is the place where most tls will trip up in Shugotate (miss the direction/vector of an action, miss who is actually doing what, etc).

Magicflier reacted to Clephas in An Update on the Fan-TL of Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate
Just ignore their BS. Translations get bashed. That is the default. The only real thing you need to keep in mind is internal consistency and readability. If something doesn't make sense to you based on the character reactions or previous lines (when editing), don't be afraid to ask advice from a translator who might not necessarily have time to do a full tlc of the game.

The story of an agent, Kisaragi Shuuji, working for a organization with a new mission to infiltrate an all-girls school under the guise of "Yamada Taeko". He goes on pretending to be a girl and has to interact with the rich ladies, while having to protect certain targets from unknown attackers at the same time.

Magicflier reacted to kyrt in Sekai Project Official Grisaia Translation?
Currently no new news about denpa soft selling the 18+ version beyond the fact that they've said they will be selling it. My guess is they are waiting til the actual kickstarter ends to make sure kickstarter doesn't pull it for starting to talk about an 18+ version. I am in the hopeful camp that they won't redact on these words either way Frontwing's President decided to thank the supporters (it also explains why it got delayed initially...the anime), here's what he said for any interested;
"First off, from the bottom of my heart I would like to thank all supporters for giving us this opportunity. Honestly, I was surprised that there would be so many supporters overseas. As you know, before this project began, Grisaia no Kajitsu was of course made into an anime. As a child I was a big fan of anime and it was a dream to be involved in animation.
That is why I always dreamed of having one of our works be turned into anime and be able to work with the people involved in the anime industry. I wanted to be excited to the point of my hands shaking with excitement as I waited for such a work to air. The animation of Grisaia no Kajitsu aired in Japan and overseas with English subtitles at the same time. We've reached an era where overseas fans could also enjoy works such as this at the same time as Japanese fans.
With everyone's support our games can also be spread further as well. The Grisaia trilogy is a long story and when making the animation many wonderful scenes were cut. I think it's wonderful that with the translation of this trilogy, many of you can enjoy each of these episodes. Please look forward to Sekai Project's efforts.
When the campaign started, I would refresh the page each time and I was pleased to see the number of supporters grow. Though there was trouble in the beginning, we've managed to get towards the end of this campaign. Although I am relieved, there is also a sense of melancholy. With less than a day left, I look forward to seeing how many users our games will reach.
The Grisaia trilogy is a representative title of our company but we have many other titles as well. Considering the support we received, we are looking into the possibility for overseas users to enjoy these other titles. Other publishers in Japan have also taken notice of what we're doing. As I sit before my computer screen, I hope that the large number of users who are supporting us will serve to be a good example to other companies.
Once more, I give a wholehearted thanks to all users who have supported us in this campaign.
Ryuichiro Yamakawa
President, Frontwing

Magicflier reacted to Down in Mangagamer and Sekai Project best sellers in 2014
Mangagamer just released their 2014 look back.
Included is their top 10 best sellers for the year:
A whopping eight nukige in the top 10, three of which are from last year, and not a single non-nukige in the top 5.
Releases this year which didn't make it to the top10 include Knights of Anal Tyranny, Lapis Gunner, Space Pirate Sara, Royal Guard Melissa and Married Nurse, five nukige, and d2B vs. Deardrops and Cartagra.
With 10 nukige vs. 4 non-nukige released this year it's not completely surprising to see this kind of results, but it's still kinda disheartening to see the efforts MG makes at releasing quality, non-nukige titles do so poorly in the end. Let us just hope that it won't discourage them from trying to push a better quality for their releases, even though it doesn't seem to affect the sales at all.
That's pretty already.
Sekai Project also gave their top5 selling games on Steam this year:
Planetarian, which was supposed to be a big thing, ended up doing less than Sakura Spirit and Nekopara. Welp.
Overall thoughts on these results:
(One positive note still: Kara no Shoujo LE topping the hard copy sales for Mangagamer. /me waiting for the unavoidable KnS/Cartagra/KnS 2 hardcopy bundle some time in 2016. Even though I already got the japanese versions.)

#TLDrama
This is in the end, another fan translation. Why do people keep forgetting that? Why do people complain about stuff non-professional people do for a hobby?
Every single time I swear. But I'm not even going to bother now.
Keep at it Akerou, you're doing a great job just translating every week and not dropping your projects like most mediocre translators out there do. Doing this when you're not even a native speaker is a huge accomplishment on its own already, so godspeed.

Magicflier reacted to Tadayoshi in Period
Period
Summary
“Dear God, I now make this, the single request of my life…”
The near future, Nagasaki.
Into this city, with its long and checkered past
was born a rarity: a child with wings.
I don’t know when it started, but
the school overlooking the town
came to be known as hallowed ground
and that is where we met.
Though summer comes closer, there is nothing new, and a boring day just rolls on. But his boring life suddenly ends. He is forced to look for a key of the observatory. He reluctantly accepts it, but gets a little bit excited. An exciting feeling.... A hunch that something will happen. Just before the summer holiday, he meets her...
Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order
Period is based on a point system that awards points to each character depending on the choice you chose. For simplicity's sake I compiled all of the point choices into basic choices for each character. With the exception of one choice no points are taken for different choices but the choices will affect what summer you have and what heroine you get at the end. The choices below are only the ones that give points, anything I left out will have no impact on your route. Also note that some choices below may not appear depending on some choices beforehand. ★ means the choice doesn't matter in that specific route.
There is no route order required to understand the story, but to get all the routes you have to play two characters at a specific point. Asahi will need at least two other girls AND Miyu's route completed for her route to appear. Koto's route will only appear after you complete ALL of the other routes. if you do wish for an order I suggest:
Miyu/Yukina/Rin/Aoi/Kohane/Tsuzumi/Asahi/Koto
Route Guideline
Yazuki Miyu
Good End
Kawasaki Yukina
Good End
Kagamiya Rin
Good End
Sawatari Aoi
Good End
Koishikawa Kohane
Good End
Mizuhara Tsuzumi
Good End
"True" Route
*Note that this requires at least two routes AND Miyu's to be completed*
Onodera Asahi
Good End
Bonus Route
*Note that this requires ALL routes to be completed*
Sawatari Koto
Good End

"After emptying the tea that has cooled down to a lukewarm temperature in one gulp..."
>The very act of tea turning lukewarm already implies that it has cooled down. It's superfluous to include all that info.
>Passive voice is annoying to read, especially when you're connecting it with another sentence, because suddenly 2-3 subjects are being put in the very same sentence, like this.
>"emptying... in one gulp" - you empty the cup, not the tea.
Apparently, you ought to find better editors and QCs. Look beyond the fact that they are native speakers, and make sure they are competent writers.

Magicflier got a reaction from KoiitoKinenbi in Visual Novel/Anime OP Translations
I asked around for the lyrics for (Dekinai watashi ga,kurikaesu)(I cannot do that again) Opening and finally received a reply from a knowledgeable volunteer to translate this opening:
過去の想い 記憶の彼方
幼き日 残した悔い
胸の奥 刻む心音
心だけ置き忘れたまま
kako no omoi kioku no kanata
osanaki hi nokoshita kui
mune no oku kizamu shin on
kokoro dake oki wasureta mama
Thoughts of the past,distant memories
The regrets that I had on the days of my youth,
Are engraved in the depths of my chest with the sound of my heart beat
As,i only forgot my heart
掌に伝わる風が
明日ヘと息を運ぶ
君に出逢う 永久に逢うんだ
本当の自分隠して
何もかもを諦めてるから
瞳から涙
頬を伝う前に悲しみのない時
探す
tenohira ni tsutawaru kaze ga
ashita e to iki o hakobu
kimi ni deau towa ni aunda
honto no jibun kakushite
nanimo kamo o akirameteru kara
hitomi kara namida
hoo o tsutau mae ni kanashimi no nai toki
sagasu
The wind reaches the palm of my hand
To tomorrow carrying my breath
Meeting with you,is like meeting immortality
Hide your true self
Because,i give up everything
Before the tears from the eyes flow down your cheeks,
Even when there is no sorrow
Look for (it)
何度だってくり返した
抱いた想い 消し去れずに
歩き続けてた
望む明日はいつかきっと
それは (まるで) 歌の (ような)
綺麗事だから
遠い過去を見つめ続け
笑顔の裏 君の愛をしらず時を重ねて
繋ぐ手の先にある
(小さな)
冷たい指先を握り締めた
nando datte kuri kaeshita
daita omoi keshi sarezu ni

egao no ura kimi no ai o shirazu toki o kasanete
tsunagu te no saki ni aru

tsumetai yubisaki o nigiri shimeta
How many times have we repeated this already?
Without being able to erase the thought that I held,i kept walking
Wishing for tomorrow,surely(it will come)someday
It is like singing a song
Because it is a beautiful thing
I keep staring at the distant past
Behind your smile, your love(for me) without knowing is constantly piling up
We are to the point before connecting hands
(Just a little)
I grasped a cold fingertip
