A person's worth is measured by the promises they keep, because the importance of a promise is measurable only by the person it is made to."

Yours truly. If you actually want to use it and need a source, PM me.

Isn't this quote also from Hoshizora no Memoria?

  2. We are back to operational status (but currently working through the queue) and willing to perform the text insertion + patch creation. PM us with the details to get in the queue.

I doubt we'll be finished anytime soon, so I'll pm you in the future. We don't need to be in the queue so soon yet. Thank you for the update though, I will remember to come back to you for help!

I would not mind becoming an editor.

Are you able to help us with the proofreading the revisions first?

  3. I guess you said that the translation side is ok, but if you need it, I'd be happy to do translation checking ^.^

Where did I say that? XD I don't think I've mentioned that a translator has volunteered yet. There was one 1-2 volunteers so far and they can only either take an editor or proofreader position (I'm going to include myself as the sole editor so far). I still need a translator, but for now what's more important is revising the current translation. It would be a great help if you can do the translation check for me.:3

For now an update - I've received some scripts and other tools from a member of the VL Translation Team... but the scripts are an older version compared to the latest patch that's released by a pretty large margin (1400kb to 1800kb difference). So I'm going to extract the scripts myself with the tool Nanashi3 recommended using ExtractData 1.2. While not knowing how to reinsert the scripts. Probably will depend on REtransInternational when it comes to that.

  4. If you are serious about the project, I would recommend asking Aaeru for the post.

You can always start the translation of the scripts without a mean for insertion as that can be solved later (when REtrans are back and operational and caught up with the current projects, they should be willing to help).

And Aaeru's post can also both bring translators and reach the original group so I would recommend that.

Hrm... I'll put that into consideration. For now I'll continue and see if I can get a reply after some more time pass friom the original TL group then.

  5. Try to contact REtransInternational, they are specialist group in hack and create patch.

Well... Thanks for the suggestion anyway. XD

Hi, if I understand it right, you are reviving a project that already has hacking done for it? (since there already is partial patch).

If that is the case, the best idea in this would be to contact the original group, ask them for the current scripts and continue from there, while also asking them for the insertion tools or at least to provide help with hacking.

I am pretty sure they will be willing to help you with that, as they probably wanted the project to finish in the first place but got scared of the C&D, so I believe that if you offer them to finish their project while taking the legal risks (which if played smart are non existent, they can just keep sending C&D to void) , they will be glad.

That plan was already a failure. I have heard no replies as of yet; was getting pretty ahead of myself on that part.

I hope that I don't end up having to pretend this project never existed, all because I can't continue.

May have to join some other project for some friends'n connections, then get back to this in the future. :|

  7. AFAIK, the script.arc may be opened and extracted with ExtractData 1.20. No idea for reinsertion.

Scripts come in the form of an interpreted script language, using the Shift-Jis file encoding.

(and incidentally, the PSP version uses the same scripting language, wrapped in CPK archives this time)

I can take the script out for now, but there would be no point if I can't put it back together or know how to create a patch file. Well, I guess I'll solve that later, since I'l still taking some time to build up a team to start.

  8. Only quotes from visual novels? not anime too?

"It's hard to continue believing you're right when everyone around you disagrees. It's far easier to change your mind, and decide that you were the only one in the wrong. Sometimes... it's easier to accept then it is to fight it. It hurts a lot less to accept people's misunderstandings than it does to try and fight it."

    — Kotarou Tennouji (Rewrite)

"People can't change, they merely learned how to live smart. People can become stronger or smarter. It's form may alter depending on the environment or situation. But you can never change your true nature."

    — Yuuichi Yusa (Wanko to Kurasou)

"Nobody had appreciated me before because I wanted them to like the real me. Problem was, the real me wasn't any good. So I might as well just pretend. All I had to do was act out the most convenient role. Force out the most convenient emotions. Become someone who put a smile on people's faces. Even if that meant the real me to disappear entirely, I didn't care."

    — Michiru Matsushima (Grisaia no Kajitsu)

"When you're a brat, running fast is enough to make you popular. When you're a middle-schooler, the guys who can fight will be popular, and after that it's the guys with brains who get the girls."

    — Yuuji Kazami (Grisaia no Kajitsu)

  9. Do you have any news for this project?

I don't know what kind of news your anticipating for, but I'm actually still looking for a hacker that can help me extract the files. Though there probably isn't any problems with the translator side. I'm already having some problems right at the start. XD

  10. this is offtopic but since you brought it up, that's not the main argument against DC3 translation. even Rewrite or Mahoyo was being translated soon after Japan release (9 months for rewrite, 2-3~ months for mahoyo).

the main argument was that i was trying to bring DC3 to english faster than MG could do it, because i know they will take too long, that's why I picked it (and bcuz they think those 14 year limited time printing monopoly privileges is now "property"). Circus' original plan was to think about western release for DC3 after Circus had done re-iterating the franchise, and if you know Da Capo history, you know they dont stop reiterating, period. which means it could be 2015.

    ok im done

sorry back to topic. i can do a blog post if you like

Not really off-topic, so thank you for the information. :3

I'll leave the posting up to your discretion.

The story of an agent, Kisaragi Shuuji, working for a organization with a new mission to infiltrate an all-girls school under the guise of "Yamada Taeko". He goes on pretending to be a girl and has to interact with the rich ladies, while having to protect certain targets from unknown attackers at the same time.

I looked into why this project was discontinued, but what I found were some unreasonable demands. They have the right to stop a fan's modification of their products that crosses the line of copyright, but telling the VL Translation Team to cease simple translation because they don't want their products to be used outside of Japan in some other language contradicts with what they are selling to buyers on Play-Asia. The chinese translation of KoiTate was complete during this process? I haven't confirmed it but they completed it on the same year the english translation was discontinued. Honestly speaking, comparing it to Da Capo III discontinuation, where the visual novel was only released barely a year after, and new releases still being released during the time (like how the anime adaption only barely finished airing); KoiTate(2007) was already over 4 years old from the day it was discontinuation(2011). I can understand how it can affect the sales since it's still on the new side of the table, but have my doubts that anyone will continue a translation for KoiTate after 5-10 more years.
Now that I've gotten my rants and complaints our of my system, let's get down to business...

I want to ask anyone who can (a hacker) extract the text (+other required things too?) for me from this visual novel, and fill me in on the details related to it. I'll also start searching for a translator who wants to translate the rest of the routes (likely the rest of the whole game), and a translation checker to help me revise the original translations. I'm planning to be the only editor so far and I want to get this all sorted out first, since this is the first time I'm starting a TL project.
It would be great if you have SKYPE for contact, rather no, you must have a skype since it's the easiest way to contact each other for now. If you don't have one, make one just for this!! Skype is getting mainstream so you'll probably end up using more of it in the future anyway. wink.gif

The latest patch released contains the translation of:
    -the prologue (100%)
-the common route leading to Yukino's and Ren's routes
    -Yukino's route (100%)
    -Ren's route (100%)
-and a few more scenes of other heroines during the common route.

The common route as a whole is probably about 70-80% done.
The routes left untranslated are Yuuri's route, Marina's route, and Setsuko's route.

I wanted to re-check translation because apparently after reading through the common route; there were at least over 6000+ lines that had horrid editing, typos flying about, and grammer appearing in every corner. On top of that, at least more of those lines had lines that made no sense whatsoever because of horrid fundamental sentence-bulding. It requires re-editing as a whole. Well, please reply to this thread, or pm me here on fuwanovel if you want to help out somehow. It would be great to know who wants to help or not. I will need betatesters after all this is over. So spam here and keep in contact. It would be great to hear about your opinions as well.

  12. hrm, these are all untranslated but they are all a must checkout:

Root Double -Before Crime * After Days- (survival)

    Supipara (magic)

Hello,good-bye (spies and stuff, dark'n serious)

Para-sol (you'll be more intrigued if you read the synopsis yourself)

DRACU-RIOT! (just play it, art is attractive and heroines are very likable... to me at least)

Irotoridori no Sekai (same creators as Hoshizora no Memoria, get what I'm saying here?!)

Shoujo Shin'iki ~ Shoujo Tengoku -The Garden of Fifth Zoa- (mystery)

Fureraba ~Friend to Lover~ (just because it sparked my interest, so you might like it too)

    Translated:

    Ever17 (survival)

Rewrite (since you've already played Little Busters and Clannad, why not?)

    ...

I'm sorry if I missed one of the aliases that I didn't recognize and mentioning the title twice, since I'm not familiar with all the aliases... haha

  13. I use to apply to translate Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate but they shoot me down on spot because of my engrish. :(/>/>

It's too bad that they drop them.

Right now I'm translating Koiken Otome, same writer as Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate. ;)/>/>

Ohhhh, so that's why I feel abnormally interested in Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate after reading about it.

I never would've thought that both vns were written by the same person. XD

Such a waste to drop it, after all the work on translating the common route + 2 1/2 routes just to leave it hanging.

People need to understand that translators are near irreplaceable even if they have bad english... tumblr_m4i9dzfa4F1qdlkyg_zps6c91ba29.gif

List of ones that really are worth playing (incidentally, Yuuji in Grisaia isn't a bodyguard, really):

    Akatsuki no Goei series

Noel (if you don't mind a really gory yuri game with really dark tones)

Para-Sol (like most of the games from this company, it's a very weird game, but it is also good)

Unival (lots of hilarity, but no better than decent story-wise)

If you just want games with action that aren't complete fantasy or excuses for rapefests (there are more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head):

    Sinclient (pretty good espionage/Illuminati)

Izuna Zanshinken (protagonist is a vigilante killer working for a yakuza family)

My personal pet peeve in action VNs is for games where the main character is basically a helpless idiot, so I can assure you that none of these games are that type.

Probably the only one that caught my eye is Parasol, thanks for the recommendations though sir. :3

  14. I can imagine that a lot of VNs centered around dating idols have bodyguard protagonists. So if you want a VN with one, I suggest looking at the idol-centric VNs first.

I'd prefer if they were in a school life setting, where the protagonist is protecting the heroine because of certain circumstances or issues of the heroine in question.

there is a lot of VN in this type too

    VNDB

    Checking out!

Sad how the TL groups for Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate & Akatsuki no Goei dropped them... hrm...

I was aware if this, so the situation is still the same with the complete translations not happening

  15. Any fans of this genre here? as well as other recommendations? :3

I know that Grisaia no Kajitsu and Sharin no Kuni fits well into this category, as well as these two:

Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate

    http://vndb.org/v370

    Akatsuki no Goei

    http://vndb.org/v629

...but those two aren't translated, and it doesn't seem to be any plans of it happening anytime soon.

I don't think there are many visual novels out there that spends a chunk of their story put into bodyguard action, hrm.
