  1. Ah, so it's more like the FSN build - self enclosed stories. Still, I'd rather wait on the remaining content - it may address some of the issues that you mentioned - could be some characters that needed more screen time, or things left unresolved, are given a spotlight in the other installments. That, and I prefer a long read over several short reads - I have too much time on my hands, so the busier I can be kept, the better (and less frustrating).
  2. Looks like it'll at least be a interesting read - I can't stand reading episodic stuff, so I'll simply wait for the rest to come out before digging in. Hopefully with some constructive feedback, they will polish the future installments. I've touched on it in the past - but I question if half the problem these obscure releases suffer in quality, is because they don't even start writing until funding is successful? Not only does it put the writer(s) on a strict timetable, they likely put in the amount of effort relative to the campaign success - rather than writing to the best of their abilities regardless. If I was a writer, I would have everything finished, from start to end - long before I pitched it to any publisher or developer. Any changes needed to be made after can be worked in. I guess it's a difference of "writing a story that the author would WANT to read" versus "fulfilling an obligation". But that's an an issue in movies and games as well - passion projects vs. "the rest". But perhaps that's overly harsh in this instance, it could have simply been a issue of time, or inexperience.
  3. With a little luck, perhaps they've learned their lesson from the response IMHHW recieved. Time will tell - it's not like IMHHW was a bad VN in itself - i actually really liked it - but the TL was atrocious.
  4. Trying to go through Xanadu Next, but just not really feeling it~
  5. Ah, that one's out then. :/ I glanced at a few but seemed ok - but I didn't look very hard. Guess I'll just mess around with AA2 or something
  6. Been thinking of trying it out, but I'm curious on the level of cut content or censorship. Based on the Cgs one can find out there on the net, I'm assuming the loli stuff has been removed/morphed into oppai-lolis, but has anything else been altered? Just kinda looking for a h-game that isn't rapey.
  7. Actually it's the opposite - ignore what others say and decide for yourself. That first H-scene is the most bizarre - the others feel a lot better, contextually. HF's being the most fitting.
  8. She just prefers Saber That aside, I didn't mind it - I first played F/SN w/o knowing anything about it - so i actually went in expecting nothing but a porn game (this was back before I realized VNs can actually possess interesting stories). I completely forgot it was a eroge until the the first scene came along, lol. I'm one of the outcasts that felt it was all fine. People can say it's stupid or jarring - but ultimately, that's what suspension of disbelief is for. If you can believe in summons and magic, sexual energy really isn't that much of a stretch - esp. because there is such thing a genuine sexual energy (though it's not "magic" its just charged hormones+emotions - one could put together a weak defense that spirits thrive on strong emotions).
  9. Welcome! I'm going to be 38 in a few days, so don't worry about feeling like odd man out. There's no harm in enjoying what you enjoy - as far as anyone knows, we only get one life - might as well have fun in it.
  10. Finally got around to finishing Monmusu. Not normally something I have much interest in (excessive fanservice, weak/non-existent plot), but I really liked the characters, and was curious to see where it might lead. Overall enjoyed it for what it was, got some good laughs out of it. Miia top girl- snek, Suu's a close 2nd place~
  11. I wont lie, I'm looking forward to it - I've liked all the mini stories they've been bleeding out of us - so I'm alright with seeing how they do with a new take/cast. But....it'd be nice to actually have the original trilogy finish up before hand, you know? Still haven't read the second one, as I'm waiting on the +18 release (even though I've had it sitting in my steam library for months now)
  12. tfw someone is being cringy af, but you just don't have the heart to say anything

  13. Pretty much of the same opinion as Okarin. I feel it's a valid expression esp. for objective matters - a good example would be some circumstances I'm dealing with - many like to think they know what I'm going through, and how easy/hard it is - based on assumptions alone, etc. But unless you are going through it first-hand, all your doing is talking out of your ass - even if it's with good intentions (bless my parents, they mean well - but they're the sort i'm most tempted to say "you just don't get it". and not in a polite way, heh) Basically, it's a line of thought where it's a clear difference between experience and ignorance. You can never know what it's like to give birth, unless you've actually done so, etc. (odd example, but apt.) As for matters of taste, well - you can try to explain why you like "X" to someone that doesn't like "X" - and sometimes a middleground can be reached, but it's dependent on why both parties like/dislike "X". Example - I really cannot stomach rape or torture in VNs (so things like Maggotbaits, Euphoria, etc) - primarily because I'm close to someone that suffered a dark and grisly hell earlier in their life. So, I just cannot fathom taking any kind of pleasure from reading portrayals of that kind of suffering - even though it's obviously "not real". But, that being said - it's purely based on my bond with the one involved. Someone that doesn't know the person - and cannot associate with such a dark subject in terms of "real life" will more easily just take it for the story it is. (take my enjoyment of standing off against the cops in the GTA series - the carnage is cathartic - but if I had been a victim/or knew a victim of some massive shooting in recent history, I suspect I'd be harder pressed to find enjoyment in it. Ultimately taste is a subjective matter. Anyway, that's my thoughts on "You just don't get it". Note: I volunteered those examples, but I would be grateful if no one derails the thread by focusing on the exact content in the examples themselves. Instead, stay on the topic of objectivity vs subjectivity. Thanks
  14. I really liked the Saber Alter fight, but beyond that I can't watch anything past the first season - just way too skeevy for me. (And that's coming from a huge Fate fan and slight loli affectiendo) Be curious to read your thoughts when you get around to the rest - I've refused to even look in it's direction, but maybe a sound mind can convince me otherwise.
  15. Yeeesh, no one would have walked away a winner in that situation.
  16. I'm not talking about who you seem to think I am talking about. You didn't see me add a name, did you? So, not pointing any fingers it's up to the readers imagination. They know who they are.
  17. Lol, that clickbait title~ Both sides on the extreme are fairly suspect - on one side, the typical SP hater I see is ignorant and usually misunderstands, and completely makes up/assumes things. The sort that will twist everything into something negative, somehow - even in the rare case it's not justifiable. It's like how people harped on SP for Grisaia (which I backed with heavy bag of $, so it's not like I have nothing to do with it), there's been so much utter ignorance and stupid on the net when it comes to why/how things are with those releases. Try to explain to these people that FW is jerking every company they work with around (like MG) and the person wlll be "nope, SP is just bad" with their hands over their ears~ And on the other side, you have the major defenders, that clearly have their lips wrapped around the proverbial c***, that will defend without any kind of middle-ground or consideration, for any criticism levied against SP. "SP can do no wrong" they mutter to themselves, while twitching slightly) The sort that wear their bias on their sleeves and say "yup, I'm a shill". Kind of hard to take your opinion seriously when it's clear as day you have ulterior motives. (looking at you, shill - many may not see it - but I know what you are - wonder when that "that thing" will be announced? sure won't be a surprise to me.
  18. Ignoring the posts and drama in the thread - my personal stance is that any success that has been garnered, is fooling newer members/consumers of the genre. if low-budget indie-dev-working-from-their-house type short-stories are your thing, then I guess it's a success sure. EDIT: i should clarify: "where" the dev works their magic doesn't matter so much, but it's about how professionally they are approaching the matter, and how high they are willing to reach. Until something really wows me, and shows the true potential of the "new" scene, I'll stay a member of the old guard.
  19. This made me laugh way harder then it really should have >_>
