It's a shame something like this had to happen, I hope you're able to recover fully and stay healthy. All that coffee's getting to you~

On a more serious note, krill you're one of the main reasons I joined Fuwanovel and I've enjoyed the conversations we've shared on skype, get well soon! I wish your son and wife well too, work hard for their sake ^^

I agree with what Aaeru said in the second thread you linked to, particularly this part:

First of all, I think Aaeru completely succeeded in doing this; and I wish she could see the community now. Regarding Fan translation quality, only elitists really care. Obviously if a translation is noticeably bad, then even regular people will complain. But most fan translators who manage to finish a project; generally had their skills tested enough. If they can complete the project, the translation is probably good enough for most people (especially for those who don't know Japanese).

These days the only time I notice people complain about translation quality. They usually either know Japanese, or they are Rooke. And in the case of the former; I feel like those people fall into the category Aaeru was criticizing as being elitist. They seem to be flaunting their ability to read Japanese, and are looking down on the people who have to read a fan translation. Or at least that's the impression I usually get from them.

sirjabberwock reacted to LiquidShu in Re-introduction and One Year Fuwa Goer.
Well it's been one year since I joined Fuwa today. I was hoping I would get to 1000 posts but I will soon enough

I feel like I have been mostly a lurker and haven't attempted to really engage with the majority of people in this community. As such I would like to reintroduce my self and hopefully participate more in the future

To start off my first name is Thomas, but I prefer to go by Shu online. Ever since I was little I enjoyed watching various cartoons and (later to be known to me as anime) with my Dad and friends. I watched Naruto, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-gi-oh with out knowing where they came from. As I got older my Dad brought me back things from over seas when he went on business trips and I began to love the pop-culture and later historical culture of Japan.

Probably around two and a half - three years ago I started watching anime, reading manga/light novels, and listening to foreign music a great deal more. To be honest I felt quite inferior at first since my knowledge of the industry was and still is limited. Over the past year at Fuwa however I stared to actually want to learn more about the more eccentric things that happen behind the scenes. Of coarse I haven't gotten very far in that regard yet but, oh well.

Like, the many other people here, I assume Katawa Shoujo, was their gateway to visual novels and then Fuwanovel. Well that stands true for me but I wouldn't have bothered to with out watching Oreimo first. Kirino, the best girl in Oreimo, loves her eroge and after watching I decided I would look some up to play. I stumbled upon Katawa Shoujo and then Fuwanovel after that. I do believe that I have been making decent progress on my played visual novel list, but I still remain far behind many members that frequent the Fuwanovel community.

Moving on to my favorites. When it comes to favorites, I am unfortunately very passive and indecisive, just like that MC we tend to dislike. If forced to choose however White Album 2, Oreimo, and Guilty Crown would be at the very top of the list (which is in no order  ) when it comes to anime. Now for visual novels since I have only read something along the lines of 15-17ish it is a bit easier to play favorites. My answer for visual novels is...

Yep yep a big shocker right?

Last but not least comes my favorites for manga. This is easier than anime and visual novels since I just loved it so much. My favorite manga would be Nozoki Ana. Oh gosh did I love this manga. It made me writhe, cry, shout in happiness, and yell in anger. These apply to White Album 2 as well.

Finally (I lied about the last part) is my love of music. Again it is a shame I do not know any of the technical aspects of music but as a meager consumer I will live with it. Music, music, music, oh how I love thee. It can do just about anything if put into the right hands. Music can create almost any emotion you can imagine and even ones you can't. Music can express wonderful stories and vivid fantasies. Music can bring you up or bring you down. A lot of people seem to dis on a lot of music these days. I can see where they are coming from but I do not agree. Has the lyrical value of music gone down? In some cases, yes. However, that does not mean you can overlook the amazing artists out there that aren't as well known. Even the ones who are and create "shitty" music you do not like have their purpose. The purpose of many new songs is to have fun and get you hyped, nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

*Ahem* sorry to ramble on like that... Anyways this is pretty much an extended version of what is on my profile page. I would like to thank everyone in the community for keeping it alive and kicking. Special shout out to Ken-kun (Monmon) who has played a large role in my life despite what he may think this past year. I hope to get closer to other members of the community as well and if you have any questions ask!

P.S I tend to use commas/parenthesis a little to much. At least I believe I do, hope it doesn't bother anyone ~~

Panhygrous. Disgusting word ... and yes, I know some weird words.

Lots of generalising here. As you get older you see people attracted to all types, depends on the person and depends on what they want and like. Each person is different. When I was much younger I witnessed one of the prettier girls at school ask out one of the nerdier and less attractive students, and then saw her get rejected, so there's not really many rules or such. 'Men', 'Women', eh whatever they're just people, go and talk to them and get to know them. Just remember humour is important, basic hygiene too, don't forget to wear pants, and you're all set.

I honestly couldn't find anything close to good enough for a split frontal, mostly due to Alucard having almost no renders. I haven't watched Hellsing so I can't tell the difference between the classic and the Ultimate one, but I believe it's the clothes? Anyway, I found nothing with the Ultimate one as well. I tried making a diagonal split but I have mixed feelings about the results. You don't have to take any of them, I can try to look a bit more or even maybe try to make a good render if you want me to.

Guess I'll try using blur more and see if I find it comfortable to work with, though darken seems to suit my style better just by looking. And yeah, your backgrounds are always screaming rofl. I'll work more with the selective color then, if it helps with bgs, I'll take anything, though like I said, I lack all the bgs I had so it's even harder now for me. T_T

Yeah, practice is important but from reading you can cut through a lot of the trial and error process, which accelerates the rate of your growth as a designer. It's good to share feedback like this, I got a new trick or two already just from this short spam of time that the thread has been up.

    You're welcome. =D

I'm aware of the user you're talking about, though I think both images were from the same artist, probably it was intended to be like that from the beginning, not sure though. I quite liked the outcome I got using the second picture you suggested, tell me what you think about it. And the Alucard's image is not working, if you fix it I could try to work with it.

I also tried adding a border, yay or nay?

I couldn't use the render that you use on your current avatar because it's chopped top and bottom, it wouldn't fit well no matter what I did so I tried a different one, I liked the outcome but Alucard's render and this one don't mix too well on their styles, but I think it was good regardless. From all of those, my personal favorite was v3.

Hello RinXD, it has been quite a while
I gave up FPS games a long time ago, but I understand your point. My counter argument is this: balancing is a huge part of online gaming and having a guaranteed one-shot kill in a sniper rifle (no matter how realistic) isn't very balanced. They're usually put into games to be used in a scout-like role away from the pack where getting one shot kills isn't always fair to the other players (you also have to remember that most of the more popular FPS games are heavily focused on seizure-inducing pace unfortunately)
