  1. Welcome to Fuwanovel!

Awh, that avatar is adorable. 10/10, would cuddle

No. You are now my arch-nemesis. I shall hunt you to the ends of the earth.

    Hey, that's cool too.

Do we now have to regulary fight on stormy rooftops? I have dates and meetings and stuff.

welcome to fuwanovel, hope you enjoy it here.

    You as well, fellow newcomer!

    Welcome to the forums...

    Thank you...

  2. I disagree completely, in VNs they intentionally make the character witouth much features (Like no face, VA or no parents) so players can immerse themselves and adding a naming option it increases the chances of that happening. Thats why game like Persona are so popular, because MANY people see the characters as YOUR friends and not the character friends because the MC is there to represents the player and not some author character wich increases immersion.

I think no adding naming function is why VNs dont fare well compared to date sims (That and the gameplay).

Well, think about someone like Phoenix Wright.

I highly doubt the Ace Attorney series would've been as successful, if Mr. Wright had a normal haircut and his grade school backstory didn't exist. I also highly doubt Trials and Tribulations would've hit home that well without his college past.

Phoenix Wright feels like a real person to the audience and his human character connects you to the plot and it's protagonist. That is enough for millions of fans to immerse themselves into his character, even though he is not the same person as you. Immersion can be achieved through different means and in no way is your view on it wrong. It's just different.

  3. An easy (lazy?) way to get around that, is to give your character a set last name (like Bioware does in most of their videogames). But that doesn't really work in most VNs, as the appropriate form of adressing others is really important in japanese culture.

Another thing is the identity of the protagonist though. In general, our protagonists have their own backstories and arcs developing over the course of the plot. Sometimes naming them after yourself might hurt the immersion more than it would help.

Moogy: btw one of the gimmicks in the -cation series is that they had the seiyuu record hundreds/thousands of clips of themselves saying various common japanese male names so that the player can enter his own name and hear it

  4. Mah nigga. You know your stuff.

I guess they're just not for you.

I personally think the ones from AkaBEiSoft2 are good.

    Anyway, hey there.

    Welcome to the forums~!

May you enjoy your time here with us (me). <3

    I guess I do.

That was what I was trying to get across. I understand that all the reviews can't come from nowhere, but it's really not my jam.

I have too much time anyway, so I might as well enjoy it.  :>

Everyone should know what Gabelstaplerfahrer Klaus is, seriously. Not knowing is a crime against humanity and good taste. I think we had it posted in some other thread, or maybe somewhere on Reddit, or the TS.

Always nice to see more Germans around, bring your friends and tell them about the glorious ass community. German Fuwanovel takeover meetup incoming!

I couldn't sleep for days after seeing that. Probably because I was too busy laughing or covering in fear. Probably both.

Most if my friends aren't into "asian" stuff and if they are, it's just anime. (The kids these days are too lazy to read, I tell ya...). I'm fine with the Übername.. eh meetup plan, as long as no one is wearing a certain hat from the 80s.

  5. Wow, what an amazing thing to wake up to. I thank everyone of you so much for the welcoming words.

Ich kann mich nur anschließen, eine wahrlich herrliche Vorstellung! Willkommen bei Fuwa!

I can totally relate with the second half of your post (except maybe finding KS while searching for porn). AA and BB are awesome VN hybrid series. And "kneesocks & love"...? Genius!

Well, I thought you would but a link to Gabelstaplerfahrer Klaus in that spoiler, I'm glad you didn't.

Welcome to the forums. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

    Thank you. I do too.

I don't think I have enough German in my blood to properly pronounce that word

Now the real question... What does that word mean?

Usually, that's the part where I tell people that it used to be a fancy title for noblemen in feudal europe. But that would be cruel here.

    Gabelstaplerfahrer means:

    Forklift driver

  7. Whatever you prefer, it's fine by me.

I'm Texas Dice. I'm nineteen years old and probably not very useful.

My little self is living in nowhereville in the south of germany. My hometown-district fits right between city and nature, so I can live both worlds. It's nice and green here, the air is alright and the stars clearly visible at night.

Friends say, that I'm a nice and fun guy to hang out with, so I'll take their word for it. Mix that with (un?)healthy cynicism and you get the real person.

Actual abilities of mine are quite limited. I have good memory, like to cook and I'm good with animals. Count me out of math problems though, because numbers are my weakness. I could probably translate german, just in case anyone needs that service. Or if you simply want to hear a cool/weird sounding word, that is also okay (happens a lot, actually).

What got me into visual novels? I've always liked the Ace Attorney series, ever since I got my first DS and I also kept the BlazBlue story mode as a pleasant experience in my mind.

About a year ago, I got sick of todays movies and video games. I feel like nobody puts any effort into writing a good story or believable characters these days (I know a fair bit about writing and analyzing).

Then, someday when I was bored and looking for porn, I found Katawa Shoujo. I did not find porn that day, but I found what I've been looking for: A Story and characters I can relate to and actually care about. So, after that I've read other visual novels and discovered my passion for them (and romance stories).

My answer to the "tits or butt?" question is "legs" and my go to fetishes are kneesocks and love. That is basically everything, so let's get along, okay?
