  1. Ruriko's story is already told, there wasn't enough substance left to write a route out of. Her fandisk content will be typical after-story stuff, excluding the romantic get-together. Rise and Chiho are basically the same character, making them kind of boring, but they are more plot-integral than Ruriko is. How is Ritsuko a "random" route? From a marketing standpoint, she is the only Kouhai-type heroine for visual appeal (Kotomi is too young) and on the writing side, she is the "rival"-heroine. You can usually expect an option to date the "rival-whos-actually-kind-of-your-friend"-girl.
  2. Dal Segno is not the worst thing ever and you do get a lot of content for your 30 bucks, including the art, which is a strong point in my opinion and a lot better than the partially questionable anatomy of Da Capo 1, 2 and even 3. The character route I've read also picked up the pace considerably compared to this really dull common route. If I had to break my disgruntled feelings down, D.S falls down the other end of the pitfall that many moeroge fall into. Usually, we complain about too much melodrama stretching out the reading time, but Dal Segno goes the other way and there just isn't anything happening at all. The writing just lacks "oomph", if you know what I mean. Rarely ever does a scene stand out and burns itself into my mind, either positively or negatively. Each scene just happens and then there's another scene and that goes on until it's over. So far I have only read chuuni girl and she did have some cool... is set-pieces the right term for VNs? Fuck it, there were some cool set pieces in the end and there was a little more going on than the "nothing" of the common route. Even though both of the big "twist" came out of nowhere and had no build up. On a personal entertainment level, I would say, I enjoy Dal Segno more than Da Capo 1 (because save for Kotori, D.C 1 is a dumpster fire) and less than Da Capo 2 (because D.C 2 has some great locations and stories. Except for Koko, fuck Koko). Which is exactly what I think about Da Capo 3. As far as recently translated VNs go, I say Dal Capo 4: Revengeance is not unreadable, but it's a lot worse than Hatsukoi 1/1.
  3. How it went so far, without spoiling anything big: Protag arrives at setting and faffs around. Nothing happens for 4 hours and we meet all the characters in drawn out scenes. 5-6 hours in, the OP finally plays and the protagonist has to nominate a girl for a plot event. This is finally when it starts to get going, but for some reason it takes another 5 hours to resolve this and therefore the common route. After that, the common route is over and hopefully, the actual character routes bring their own substance into play (this is where I am currently reading) --- On an unrelated note, listen developers. I don't mind late H-scene content, only a single ero-scene per character or actually no ecchis at all. But,
  4. Prepare to get floored, because so far Da Capo 4 is taking forever to tell us a tale about absolutely nothing. It took a solid 4 or 5 hours until something similar to a plot emerged from all this nothing.
  5. A fair assessment of the heroine cast thus far.
  6. "Stormwall" Some kind of Attack on Titan plot, but the titans are replaced with tornadoes, typhoons and other kinds of stormy weather conditions.
  7. Actual footage of any editor going past the first page
  8. Okay, this was a lot fun. A little bit too draggy and fillery at times (are those real words?), but the scenario design also got a lot of things right. Hatsukoi has a lot of the classic (or as others call them, overdone) elements; donkan protagonist, childhood friends, highschool setting, and the list continues. But I was pleasantly surprised by how well these elements were used. For example, in a majority of the routes, the reason drama occurred was because the protagonist is a dumb idiot and too dense to notice any subtleties. Usually, the lack of sharpness in the eroge protagonist brain is used as an endearing trait to keep everyone's relationship as non-committal as possible during the common route. In Hatsukoi, Yuuma's personality actually comes into play many a time and has consequences. Another surprise, was how many times my predictions got subverted, which is something people interested in storytelling always like. I did not expect the protagonist to get together with the wrong girl during another girl's route, I did not expect to get dumped in over half of the routes and I certainly didn't expect having to dig up my domino's pizza meme folder. I would give this one a recommendation, Hatsukoi is a lot less bland and generic than it initially comes across. Final words? The guy who thought choosing a white font for the very bright background of the backlog deserves to get beaten up.
  9. I was actually super wrong on this point; Yukino doesn't share any scene with Runa during the route-selection period. Meaning the bad stuff in Runa's route felt bad because it was actually bad, not because of possible railroading.
  10. Okay, got it. Question for the webdesigner, was it hard to render the images? EDIT: I'm asking because it looks kind of barren. Currently. Better aesthetics would please the children.
  11. Maybe that prejudice is why you can't tell them apart or otherwise you would notice the differences in shading, outlining, proportions, lighting and most bafflingly of all, the animation difference (both artistic and in terms of quality). ¯\__/¯
  12. I can't believe someone was willing to rent webspace for this.
  13. Nevermind, I was FULL of shit. I mistakenly thought I was halfway through at the time of making my post, but that wasn't true at all. Nekopara vol 3 is stacked with content this around and getting this much for the same price as ever is basically stealing. H-scene spoilers: Btw, I have returned home to camp Cinnamon, (<--- add this already) though Maple is super bae in dere mode. What else can I say about Nekopara Vol 3? I was initially down on volume 3, but nevermind, now I'm sold. If you hated nekopara before you will still hate it and the reverse is true for fans. In terms of art quality and technical stuff, it's Sayori. We're all only here for her and she is still getting better. This time, we got a few more sprites, some more perspectives/angles on the previous ones and more of those manga-emoticon-visuals (hearts, anger symbol, sweat drops, etc). For a sprite example, Azuki is no longer locked between the "hands-on-hips-sideways"-pose and the "boo-I'm-a-ghost!"-pose. Sprite variety is always good. If I had to pick one thing on the visual side to be nitpick about, it would be the backgrounds maybe? They're not bad by any stretch, but I remember the ones from neko-nin ExHeart looking better, which I think is a fair comparison, considering the release date of both titles. EDIT: btw, Wankopara confirmed
  14. Okay, I'm not 100% through it yet (I need a moment to recharge, anyone have some orange juice for me? ), but so far my predicted worries seem to be true: Not enough focus on Cinnamon and Maple, because the "story" has to take the entire harem into consideration as far as scenes go. That is especially true for the H-content. We really didn't need another Chocola+Vanilla scene.
  15. meme Serious answer: I don't feel like 5 scenes are too much, because even without them, all the routes feel like they're 10 hours longer than they really need to be. At times, I was struggling to keep paying attention to the dragged out writing, so getting plenty of "service" helped.
  16. Okay, I feel confident in prematurely calling Maya best girl. She's hilarious, adorable and I actually have never seen any VN character cry as much as she did. What a needy princess. (this is the first time I was 100% on board with being bullied by a girl, did something awaken in me? w) For the route, I thought it was the most solid one so far. Enjoyed it a lot, complaints would be the pace once again (which is something different at least, because for once I felt like the romance filler was dragging for too long, not the melodrama) and I don't feel like some loose-r ends (like Maya's mom) could've had a more satisfying conclusion. As far as praise goes; I love Maya for multiple reasons - development, personality, role, performance (especially that one) - take your pick. I also liked the subject matter of the story and my favorite part about it, was that for once there was a complete absence of "main-character-and-girl-dont-interact-with-each-other-for-hours-because-doing-so-would-defuse-the-tension-and-we-need-more-melodrama"-scenes. She and our hero stay together and solve all issues together from start to end and protagonist is surprisingly capable in this route. Oh and I totally want to watch that movie. Bad movies are my specialty.
  17. Pizza Moon's route (or lesser known as Kyou's) felt like it was a bit too long, but it still fun and I don't have a lot to talk about here. I would've liked Kyou's dad to have a sprite and him being a bit more involved more with the ending. Kyou is pretty cute and I really adored the silent underwear change (the game didn't call it out, so it was service for the people who paid attention ) Runa's route is interesting and I have a bit more to say about it (good and bad). On the bad, the first half feels like it's 20 years and I got Harukoi Otome levels of dragged-out melodrama PTSD. There are also some issues with the scenes that I assume are shared with Yukino's route, since they sometimes felt inconsistent with what happens in the Runa specific scenes. For the good, I thought the second half was really strong and really like the plot being somewhat unconventional (usually, stories involving dense block-head protagonists tend to dissolve all tension and anxiety by having everything conveniently fall into the right place, while here the donkan protagonist is actually responsible for making this a pretty miserable tale). Also, Runa is pretty curvy and plumb compared to the average token-loli character, no regrets. tl;dr: Runa's route: Good plot, not so good execution thereof. I'm glad I didn't quit after becoming frustrated initially, because I really liked the second half.
  18. Picking the other choices literally changes 10 lines of text, so suck it up and click the choice box. You will surely survive that ordeal.
